Hoping for full houses 6 independent restaurateurs have come up with an innovative way to attract customers to their establishments to create a local business partnership. In the New Year the venues (all within walking distance of each other) will be launching ‘Balham Bingo”, where diners present their special bingo cards to obtain discounts at the participating eateries

The restaurateurs have decided to pull their resources and work together to encourage local customers to ‘Keep it Local”- why travel out of the area, when there are so many great offerings on theirdoorstep?

The scheme is also in association with Balham Partnership and Wandsworth Council and aims to attract new visitors to Balham, the Gateway to The South. Balham is one of the few areas of London that is not dominated by the mid market chain restaurants and so in terms of independent residential restaurants offers something very unique.

Traditionally local businesses have always competed against each other to survive and fight for the same customers – but these forward thinking operators have decided to approach things from another angle!

All 6 restaurants are true independents, providing different offerings:

Harrison’s – All day Brasserie and bar-sister restaurant of Sam’s Brasserie in Chiswick and owned by Sam Harrison, Rick Stein and Rebecca Mascarenhas. Opened in Balham in October 2007.

Dish Dash – Persian restaurant owned by Robert Holland.

Tacuba – Mexican Cocktail Bar/ Restaurant owned by Arturo, Usiel and Daniel – 3 Mexicans bringing authentic Mexican street food to London. Opened in Balham in 2008

Lamberts – Modern British Restaurant owned by Joe Lambert. Opened in Balham November 2002
