Special occasions demand special locations and there are few places quite as special as Capercaillie, the two AA Rosette restaurant of the Craigsanquhar Hotel in the Kingdom of Fife. Nestled in rolling green countryside, lawned gardens on all sides, Craigsanquhar is the beautiful grey-stone former home of the Spens family, an old Scottish family with royal roots and connections to the great and good of Scotland past. History and heritage is in every nook and cranny of this glorious manor house, including the warmly inviting and well kept Capercaillie dining room, with its huge, draped windows, aged wooden floorboards and plasterwork features. The Capercaillie kitchen is the domain of Head Chef Billy Thomson, who leads a talented team in creating a fine menu of contemporary Scottish dishes, beautifully presented and a delicious representation of the local produce and culinary heritage of the local countryside. Additional to Capercaillie is the Wee Keep Bar, an informal space where excellent bar meals are served alongside beers and wines.
