About Chettinad Restaurant

Named after a prosperous banking and business district in Southern Tamil Nadu, Chettinad Restaurant in London’s West End specialises in Southern Indian food cooked traditionally and authentically. Attractively sleek and neutral, Chettinad is a warm, comfortable restaurant with a contemporary look and feel and invitingly friendly service from experienced and efficient staff. The menu here at Chettinad is based around the famed culinary region of the aforementioned Tamil Nadu, a land bordered by the Arabian sea and the mountainous Western Ghats, resulting in a wide array of produce and flavours particular to the area. Chettinad draws on many specialties of Tamil Nadu, using fresh, flavoursome ingredients to recreate the grain and vegetable heavy dishes as well as the famed masala dosa, doubtless the signature dish of the region.

Excellent restaurant with authentic south indian food! The chilli paneer was very tasty too and unlike many indian restaurants in the city, was actually very hot! Generous portions and the various chutney dips complemented the food quite well! Only letdown was that they didn't have any ras malai left for desserts which is a favourite amongst the crowd!

Chettinad restaurant in London serves authentic Chettinad flavours. Had their express menu with a bottle of cobra beer. First arrived the poppadums with chutneys; swiftly followed by the express menu 'thaali' consisting of lamb curry, Chick peas were fantastic Very spicy. So, beware.

Had another great meal at Chettinad's on sat with friends who had not been there before. The food was excellent. Especially good as you aren't rushed out of the door.

Chettinad is a perfectly decent south Indian restaurant, including fish and meat as well as vegetarian. Having been to many Chettinad restaurants around the world my main criticisms would be first the price (like its neighbour Saggar these are a step up from other south Indian restaurants around the UK), and second the slightly bland tastes. For a cuisine that at its best bursts with flavours this was disappointing - presumably aiming at Western tastes,

We went to Chettinad on a Friday evening. The place was busy but the waiters were very attentive. The food was excellent, especially for a Friday evening Indian restaurant! the choice are limited but you will not find here the greasy, horrible food served in many Indian restaurants. The Madras dish was the star of our picks - highly recommended and not too spicy. Great meal, great atmosphere... will definitely come back for more.

Great food at Chettinad on Percy Street. really good chutneys and Doze. staff very pleasent

Chettinad on Percy Street was excellent, an interesting menu of their own dishes. Service was very good considering how busy it was. Will definitely go again.

Very nice to have a different Indian Meal rather than your normal korma/vindaloo options at Chettinad in Percy Street. Was quiet when we arrived but soon filled up. Starters were lovely - especially the squid, but the 23 spice lamb was much milder than I was expecting. Would go back.

Very nice restaurant in a great location with some nice pubs and bars close to it. Be prepared to eat some rather spicy Indian food.

Good food, service quite rushed so not as good as it could have been. Staff were lovely, but we had to remind them for some of the courses we had ordered which then came with our main meal - which was a bit dis-jointed. Food tasted more interesting and subtle than your average Indian.

Chettinad served us what is definitely the best Indian cuisine we have ever enjoyed, and one of the best meals of any cuisine we have ever sampled. We are relative novices with this cuisine and the staff were helpful and patient and friendly in guiding us through their impressive menu. The lamb madras was perfectly cooked and the seasoning and spices were sublime. The chicken soup was warming and spicy on a cold London evening and soothed my sore throat. Highly and unreservedly recommended.

Great, will definitely re-visit

Went to Chettinad in London for the first time and was blown away. The most helpful staff, who chose our food for us, and an absolutely delicious meal. I will certainly be returning soon.

Had a lovely dinner at Chettinad Restaurant, just off tottenham court road last night and would recommend it to everyone who loves spicy indian food. Great flavours and for those who can't quite cope, there are the milder korma curries on offer too. Friendly staff who encouraged you to take your time over your meal!

A welcome change to the usual Indian fare. An interesting menu, fresh and tasty ingredients and a comfortable, and clean decor...Would definitely go again...

Had a very nice time

I visited Chettinad on Percy Street for a lunchtime client meeting. Brilliant service and the food was absolutely excellent. I will definitely be re-visiting!

Chettinad was a very nice change for us from the 'usual' Indian restaurants. Its blend of South Indian cuisine and excellent service was very agreeable! Main challenge was that the starters were (unexpectedly!) very spicy, meaning several of the group were unable to finish theirs. Main courses were fine, with real flavour but not excessive heat. I think we'd go again, but more on a 'special occasion' basis than as regulars

At Chettinad Restaurant on Percy Street we had delicious food and really friendly service. Went out of their way to make sure we all enjoyed our meal. I eat curry a lot and this place really knows what they are doing. The flavour and heat from the south indian spices was really intense and made the meal much more enjoyable than a lot of currys I have tried. Will definitely be back.
