About El Mexicano

El Mexicano sits in the heart of Brighton's theatre district and prides itself on being the only authentic Mexican restaurant in the area. Buzzy atmosphere is fueled by vibrant Latin vibes, music, cocktails and food. Authentic Mexican cuisine and Spanish tapas is the order of the day, including enchiladas, mole, sea-food paellas and fajitas. After your meal, visit Valentino, the art deco style bar upstairs, which is licensed until 2am.

The food was ok but very average. It was quick to come and the staff were attentive.

El Mexicano was great - hit the spot exactly on my need for mexican food. Service very friendly and efficient, despite the restaurant being quite busy. Menu was more wide-ranging than standard UK Mexican restaurants, including lots of choices for my vegetarian friend. I loved the chicken enchilada starter and has a beef dish baked in a sort of beany soup. Only thing that wasn't so good was side-dish - rice was stodgy and beans just bland - so I would avoid paying the £2.25 extra for this.

El mexicano brighton - One of my favourite restaurants in brighton and as normal it didnt disappoint. Great food, very flavoursome and good value. I took my good friend their for the second time as she is well and truly converted and raves about this place.

An excellent meal, and great staff

El Mexicano in Brighton is well placed for a pre-theatre dinner as it is right next door! 2 courses for £9.95 was a good deal as the portions were good. I had nachos to start followed by chilli con carne with refried beans and rice which was really tasty. My husband had steak and chips which was good, chips were excellent.

El mexicano, brighton. One of my favourite restaurants in brighton, always great service and a lovely atmosphere. The food was delicious, I picked one of my favourites, the enchiladas, washed down with a cocktail and a glass of wine. My vegetarian friend who I took was suitably impressed and now requests we go back there again! reasonable priced.

El Mexicano, Brighton was a great visit. Although it was quiet (expected on a Monday night), there was a god atmosphere and great service. We thought it was excellent value and certainly left feeling very full of good food.

el mexicano brighton. we went here for a lunch and had the chilli hamburger and the vegeterian tortillas. the meals were large portions and very hot fresh and tasty. I love chillis so I was very happy! we had two mexican devil cocktails which were generous and fruity. the whole meal and drinks came to 30 which was very reasonable.

el mexicano brighton. As always was delicious. They do in my opinion the best lunch deal in brighton, two tapas dishes and a (fairly large) glass of wine, for £5.95, which is very reasonable and very tasty. I had spicy meatballs and cured ham and cheese on bread. My other half had the meatballs and shredded chicken and chickpeas and he was very happy and he is quite a picky eater. have been to this restaurant many times and will keep coming back!

El Mexicano had a great feel to it. Very Cosy & Authentic. Found the music too loud though, had to shout to speak to my wife. The food was good and service was great.

Ok in general. Probably wouldnt go again.

El Mexicano, Brighton - a fantastic find! This feels like you have been transported to a village in Mexico. The service was amazing, a great welcome and friendly staff throughout, there were happy to laugh and joke with us, whilst leaving people who wanted a quiet meal well alone. The food was superb, the manager making some great recommendations on addistions / changes to what was on the menu.

We had a great evening

Great food at great price and a very nice cocktail bar upstairs. We shall return!

Very good atmoshpere at El Mexicanosin Brighton and friendly service. Would be good to see Beef Fajitas on the menu. We would go again.

Lovely authentic little Mexican eatery. We couldn't fault the food in flavour and presentation but the service, unfortunately, was a slight let down. Overall it was a great end to our London to Brighton cycle ride and I recommend a visit.

A very pleasant restaurant, we enjoyed our time there. I would recommend the desserts! Very friendly waiting staff, and a good choice for Mexican classics in Brighton. Could have had some cheese with the fajitas!

El Mexicano in the heart of Brighton next to the Theatre Royal provided a warm and relaxed environment in which to enjoy our tasty Nachos, tortillas and swordfish dishes! The bar directly above at La Valentino also provided a good selection of cocktails to enjoy. Would recommend especially if going to see a show at the theatre after your meal.

Excellent food and lovely service. And a great margarita!

El Mexicano in Brighton had a reasonably priced selection of food. Although it wasnt the most authentic mexican ive ever had was good value. The cocktails though were fabulous! Nice atmosphere and friendly staff make it well worth a visit.

We went to El Mexicano in Brighton for Valentines evening and had a great meal... the food was good - better than some Mexican restaurants we've been too, and although not completely authentic did provide a good variety. As my partner and I are both Vegetarians it was nice to be able to have a good choice of available food. Recommend getting the Montezuma revenge desert - delicious and not too hot!.
