About Golden Oven

Situated on Bateman Street in the heart of the West End, the Golden Oven is ideal for long lunches and pre-theatre dinners – especially if you’re a fan of authentic Indian food. The emphasis is on fresh spices and traditional recipes so you can be sure the dishes taste just as they would in India. The restaurant itself is relaxed and unpretentious, with friendly staff to guide diners through the extensive menu. Classics like lamb karahi and chicken madras are done very well here, but we recommend trying one of the chef’s signature dishes. Try the garlic chilli chicken if you like your food hot and spicy, or go for a thali if you want to try a little bit of everything.

The Golden Oven are now accepting Christmas and New Year's reservations.

Golden Oven, W1D 3AL.

Usually indian restuarants in Soho are over priced and rubbish. Not the Golden Oven. Great food and atmosphere. There were 5 of us and our food arrived without any delay and we all had a great meal. Quite a small resturant so book in advance if you can. Staff were really friendly with hellos and thank yous and all polite and attentative.

Will definitely try and go again when in Soho.

The service and food was amazing! We were running late and trying to make the theater. The staff helped us select options from the menu and was very fast with the order. The food was outstanding, the best Indian food we've had in the US. We'll definitely go back if in London again. Highly recommend this small and personable restaurant!

Excellent service and a wide array of lovely food. Even great coffee! Would recommend to anyone who likes Indian food.

My Chicken Dansak was tasty, though not as hot as I prefer. Service attentive.

We booked through Top Table for this delightful intimate little restaurant after finding it on the Time Out website. We had a great time, as the service was excellent , the manager was helpful and friendly , the food was very good- I recommend the sizzling dish which kept my tandoori lamb nice and hot and we were there for two hours enjoying the good vibes (its small so it filled up nicely) .We will definitely go there again as it is right in the hub of things with very reasonable prices indeed

Another great night at the Golden Oven - Thanks Ali and we enjoyed the free beers!

Good value for money but that is all.

Food was lovely and the service was amazing. Please DO try the mango lassi, it's really really refreshing. And be sure to ask how hot some of the curries are as some of them can get pretty spicy. All in all a great experience, would definitely recommend it/go again.

Lovely and cozy Indian restaurant with very friendly and service-oriented staff. They were so on top of things, we could've been in and out very very quickly (which I guess is why it's been recommended as a pre-theatre dinner place), but also didn't feel like they were rushing us out. Even phoned to re-confirm out booking on the evening, as I had only booked that morning. good flavours, lots of variety and naan not too greasy. Will definitely recommend/go back!

Nice people careing stuff working in the place ! Nan bred was very nice !

An interesting, small and slightly quirky place. If you're looking for luxury, it's not here. But bundles of character and all 6 of us enjoyed the meal and the experience.

Wonderful Indian food that is not at all expensive, and is very good value for the neighborhood. Went with my girlfriend, and was very happy with their service. They tailored our food to our tolerance of spices/hotness, while keeping the food authentic. Highly recommended, would definitely go back.

Golden Oven (London): we had a nice meal in a very friendy atmosphere. The food was tasty and filling so by the time we started to eat the main dish we were already full. Our only remark is that the dishes could be a bit more varied (the taste of all was quite similar - which could be our fault, though we did follow the recommendations).

Golden Oven, London. Small, cramped restaurant, but attentive personell. Food was excellent. But they should do something with the interior. The place seems popular, and around 8pm there is actually a line outside. The waiter is at that time eager to get us out, in order to serve a new table and make more money.

Golden Oven, Soho. Tandoori chicken starter was freshly cooked & delicious. Food very good, but ambience lacking. Music could have been a bit louder & lights less bright. Service very good and unintrusive.

They say best things come in small packages and it is certainly true with this restaurant. The restaurant is tiny, the food is fantastic, and the service is legendary. We will be back for sure!

The golden oven in Soho is a lovely little indian restaurant with good food and friendly service

Good value Indian food. Service was very attentive. Lots of choice on the menu and food was authentic. However, quite a small restaurant, tables are quite close together. Overall, good place for a quick bite before going to the theatre.

The Golden Oven in Soho is a great little curry house. Really good chef's specials and very friendly service, plus it's great value for the location and food. It is quite small overrall and there's not a massive amount of elbow room as others have suggested but that doesn't really detract from the experience and actually makes it quite cosy. Give it a go.

Very poor food. Tasteless and extremely disappointing.
