About Itihaas

Itihaas restaurant in Birmingham is one stunning eaterie. This beautiful restaurant —the name means ‘history’ -- is the £2 million brainchild of businessman Raj Rana and it’s been raking in awards since it opened its doors. The décor is contemporary meets traditional with two dining rooms honouring colonial and maharaja eras – there are slate finished walls, original paintings, carved stone elephants, Jali marble window frames like those found in Mogul palaces and elegant black sari-clad hostesses. Chef Amardeep Saka offers intriguing dishes influenced by North India, Mumbai, Chinese fusion and Kenya. The cuisine and service are royal, yet the ambience is relaxed and informal – a history-making combination in anyone’s book.

It's always a treat to eat at Itihaas in Birmingham city centre. The initial welcome , the ambience and the service is all excellent. The chilli paneer starter was large and wonderful. My main - the tofu fusion dish was good but I don't really think it works as the tofu just had so little flavour - full marks for trying though. A little expensive but well worth it as a treat. Our friend up from London said it was the best Indian meal he had ever had. Next stop Lasan's then!

Party were looked after very well. Would go back again...

Itihaas Birmingham Despite booking through top table they rang and asked for a £50 deposit for Saturday night. Food was very good but service poor. They rushed us to order our food but then did not bring the rice at the same time as the rest of the food and we had eaten main courses with breads by the time rice came . They did not take the deposit off the bill and needed to be reminded although did deduct rice Would not go again as similar restaurants in brum with better service

Excellent venue, food and service

We dined at Itihaas in Birmingham last Saturday evening and enjoyed the whole experience. We live in the South, but as we were up for an exhibition at the NEC, and the Christmas markets, it gave us the opportunity to visit this award winning restaurant, and we weren't disappointed. The food was delicious and served in a clean, attractive environment. The staff were friendly and advised us on the menu, so we chose dishes and wine we really enjoyed. We will certainly go again next year

have been to this restaurant been before and it was amazing, unfortunatley could not say the same about my last visit, had the mixed platter starter which was awfull, overcooked and overspiced. main course although was ok was very expensive overall.

As always, excellent food and service.

Good food and service but quite expensive for what it is.

Really elegant restaurant with generous portions.

Itihaas (Birmingham) - been a few times now - food always excellent.

A touch on the expensive side - but worth it.

Loved it here. The atmosphere was nice and service friendly. Some of the dishes were very unusual and everything was tasty - especially the breads!

it wasn't a great experience, every member of staff was old and looked tired as if restaurant is manager is making them work without their willingness. restaurant spacing is too tight. no body bothers about asking if meal is OK.

Itihaas in Birmingham. The ambience, food and service were all excellent. This restaurant serves traditional indian food at a very high standard and the very busy restuarant (on a Tuesday night) is testament to that.

Excellent Taste and a wonderful experience. Seriously authentic!!!

Itihaas In birmingham is a great ambient restaurant.

Excellent! Food, service and surroundings. Will book again.

Nice

Itihaas, Birmingham

Excellent! Having waited for ages to try this restaurant we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, the service was prompt and efficient and the surroundings very comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised when we got the bill - not "curry house" prices but very reasonable for a city centre restaurant, already looking forward to our next visit.

Itihaas Birmingham Following rave reviews we thought we would give Itihaas a try. I really wanted to like this but I was dissapointed. Its a shame the cooking wasn't up to the restaurant itself which was light and bright. A mixed kebab starter was plentiful but it was bland and tasteless. There was no depth of flavour in any of the offerings and it was as though the portions had been marinated in nothing. My wifes king prawn dish was equally as bland.

Itihaas Birmingham. Disappointing really. The staff were courteous but I was surprised to be phoned before the time of our booking to be asked what time we would arrive. The atmosphere was great but the food average. They seemed to want to hurry us out after only 90 minutes and even switched off the music before we had finished. We won't return.
