About Julie's Restaurant & Bar

A magnet for over 40 years from the hippie generation and now to the ultra-cool London set. Julie's has been referred to as the rock chick of the restaurant world. Opened in 1969, the decadent originality of this iconic restaurant remains. A maze of glamorous rooms and eclectic furnishings with murals, church pews and pulpits, a honeycomb of small eating areas and alcoves each in a different style including a medieval private banqueting room, you can sink into golden velvet sofa's flanked by rich Indian carvings and stained glass window. The great names from rock and roll, high society and Hollywood have passed through the doors. Originally a builders yard, Julie’s is named after interior designer Julie Hodgess, who conceived both Julie’s Restaurant and Bar in 1969. Owners Tim and Cathy Herring have continued to consult her ever since. Johnny Ekperigin joined the Herrings in the 1970's and has gone on to become Managing Partner of Julie’s and The Portobello Hotel.

Julies Restaurant is set in one of the most exclusive parts of London. It has a great vibe and the welcoming is very pleasant. the service is good, portions are ample ,slightly pricey but worth it for that special date

Great location and lovely building. However we found the food was over-priced, so not sure if we would go again...

The perfect restaurant to catch up with friends, round table upstairs, superb service from the minute we all walked into the restaurant! We stayed there till closing and could have stayed there for the night! Excellent food and no waiting time!!! Looking forward to going back again soon!

wonderful atmospheric venue although pricey

Julie's Holland Park, always nice, however service was very slow. maybe it's because it was Mothers Day? however as they knew were totally full they might have hired some additional staff that day. That said the staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome.. we sat upstairs and whilst I like the eclectic tired look of the room it was cold due to the gaps int the windows/doors and I presume the heating was not on? Pate was plain, roast chicken great.. Roast Beef not so good.

A lovely place with a cosy and happy vibe, serving good food.

Julie's with friends. We wanted a nostalgic evening in this restaurant that has been there for 40 years. It was fun but too noisy for comfortable conversation. The deserts let them down.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff

Amazing food, cant wait to return to Londona and visit again

Julies is a quirky and romantic place to dine. The service is decent and the food is unspectacularly adequate. The real issue is the simple fact that it all of this doesn't justify the prices. One tip - a side order of chips is huge - just like the cost!

Great atmosphere, great building insider very deceptive as it was quite large, lots of little rooms. Food was very enjoyable would definitely recommend

Julie's in Holland Park is always a pleasure. A quirky, upmarket restaurant and bar with great food and good service. It's not cheap but it is very nice for a special, romantic evening.

Julie's Portland Road, Holland Park Lovely restaurant, good service and delicious food. Pricey, but worth it for an occasional special treat.

Celebrating a wedding anniversary - wedding held at Julies 7 years ago. Nice atmosphere but found food was not to same standard and pricey compared to last few visits. Julie's is always busy - but wouldn't rush back

Whilst the ambience and service were above average, the food quality was very average and overpriced. However the wine list was impressive but again overpriced.

I would recommend for its ambience and reasonably good service.

Julies Restaurant in Holland Park didn't quite live up to my expectations. Deceptively larger than 1st expected with some quirky and intimate touches, but just didn't turn out to be the culinary delight I had been promised. My main meal wasn't what I had ordered, but was replaced including an accompanying side on the house. Nice venue, average food, quite expensive.

Lovely food...good wine menu..highly recommend

A restaurant for the locals very small tables and a bit pricey.

One of the best romantic restaurant
