About Maharani

Set in the heart of the West End, Maharani – which means ‘Queen’ in Hindi – is certainly a jewel in the crown of the Soho dining scene. Inside, wooden floors, shades of burnt orange, and crisp white linen make for a stylish but unpretentious atmosphere. The menu will satisfy even the most demanding of diners, with an extensive selection of traditional Indian dishes, vegetarian options, regional specialties and tandoori dishes cooked in their authentic clay oven. We love their haleem – a dish of lamb, mixed lentils, barley and whole spices cooked overnight to create a unique taste and texture. Friendly service and a good range of wine and beers make Maharani a great choice for meals with friends and colleagues alike.

Used to go here over 10 years ago. The food was always good but the decor a bit shabby. The owner has transformed the restaurant, maintained the quality of food and introduced a whole range of interesting dishes. Not just the usual boring curry house menu. Service was excellent, the waiter even telling us when we over ordered. Food was good and well presented without being over fussy. In my opinion curry and poncy just don't go together. Well worth a visit. Wines were good as well.

Maharani on Berwick in London. Never fails to impress our taste buds. Brought another visitor to town and had a fantastic meal.

Maharani 77 Berwick st, London W1 We were a group of 12 ,mainly French people for a post-theatre dinner. The table was still waiting, even though we arrived late, warm, friendly welcome. The food was delicious, huge amounts, we were given excellent advice on choice of dishes. The chicken curries fantastic and the black lentil dhals to die for! Goan fish curry flavours lovely, though fish a little dry. Excellent value for money! Will definitely come back and recommend this to friends.

Great Food, Great Staff. They happily put back our booking by half an hour. Everyone really enjoyed the food - one of the best in Soho!

We went to Maharani on a saturday night before a show. Located on a sidestreet in Soho, this little Gem offers unusual dishes and excellent service. We were very impressed by the menu here. While offering the usual recognisable indian curries, there was also a selection of house specialties that I had never previously heard of. Overall, I would say the food is less oily that your average curry house, with far more interesting food. We would happily recommend this one!

Had another great meal at Maharani on Berwick Street. A great combination of typical Indian restaurant hospitality and non-typical Indian restaurant dishes. It's a really interesting menu.

13 of us went here last night for a work dinner. The food was brilliant, huge portions! The food took a while to come because we were such a big group but it was definitely worth the wait. Great value.

Maharani in Soho is a reliable Indian restaurant, more interesting flavours than the average without being either particularly striking for its menu or particularly gourmet. By Soho standards the prices are reasonable, though relatively high for Indian. Good attentive service and quick.

My partner & I were really looking forward to our meal at Maharani, but it was very disappointing. My parter had a lamb shank dish, it was huge, but the meat wasn't tender. I had the goan fish curry and the fish was really dry. Overpriced and won't be returning. Good service.

Another trip to the best value lunch in London at Maharani. Always great food, atmosphere and service. The fixed menu cannot be bettered and the price is very reasonable. Try it!

Highly recommended - although it's pricier than your average curry house the quality more than matches the price.

Went to Maharani in Soho on Friday. Food was delicious. Thought the food was a little bit overpriced for an indian.

Maharani, London: We received a warm welcome, despite arriving late after a theatre performance. We received precious advice as to what to order. The staff were charming and all the food was superb. Thank you.

I am very demanding with my Indian food, and this restaurant was absolutely wonderful! A great find!

Maharani in Soho. Food was fantastic as always, including dessert!

Really nice dining experience. Quality Indiana cuisine. The courses do take a bit long to arrive, but the service is quite good. We would return/recommend.

Maharani is one of my favourite restaurants and cannot be beaten for a great low fixed price set lunch. The food is first class and although it is not fine dining (and does not set out to be so), it is undoubtedly one of the best places for a curry!

Maharani is authentic beautiful Indian food with a great atmosphere and excellent service.

The Maharani Soho London was a truly pleasant experience after months of the same boring Vegetarian choices in other similar restaurants. The vegetarian choices were plenty and inventive. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food excellent. We would definitely return again. Good value too for restaurants in this category.

Maharani in Soho is such a great find. Really unassuming from the outside but the food is seriously to die for. I can't recommend enough the part of the menu where you choose your type of meat/sauce/side and rice - it is beatifully presented when it arrives and is amazing value. GO!
