About Masala Zone

Fans of Indian food rave about Masala Zone and on entering this Covent Garden branch of the well loved mini-chain it’s easy to see why. With a completely unique look and feel, Masala Zone combines Indian tradition with contemporary, quirky design. The large, comfortable restaurant’s focal point is the several hundred colourful handmade puppets, imported directly from Rajasthan, suspended from the ceilings. This is just the first indication that Masala Zone isn’t the usual Indian restaurant. Casually attired, the attentive and friendly front of house staff add to the restaurant’s lively, fun atmosphere, chatting animatedly about the extensive menus which tour the many culinary regions of the vast country of India. Employing chefs specialising in each regional specialties, Masala Zone have carefully ensured that every last dish is authentic, made with appropriate high quality ingredients and using traditional methods. The result is one of the most authentic Indian meals in London.

Went for a pre-theatre meal. There was a bit of a language barrier with some of the staff so ordering was a bit confusing and service was quite slow after our main course as a big party came in, meaning we didn't have time for desert or a coffee. Nice vegetarian options and good beer. Would go again for the food but would hope the service was a a bit better as, if it was a on-going issue, it might put me off a 3rd visit. Good value for the area and not too full of tourists.

Masala Zone in Covent Garden has wonderful food, but the service is terrible!! It's like it was everyones first day on the job, and they were so clueless. The waitress screwed up the order, the food runners came out w/ blank stares on their face w/ the wrong food not knowing how to fix, and we would have to ask several times for drink refills.

Excellent food and service. Very pleasant setting though the music was a little too loud. Would definitely recommend for good Indian food.

Thali's are a great way to try a little bit of everything all on one big plate - yummy!

Excellent service. Despite having a late arrival we were not pushed to order quickly. When the final member of our party did arrive after we had finished our main course their food arrived at the table very quickly. Food very enjoyable, although the dal could be nicer. Would happily recommend Masala Zone in Floral Street Covent Garden to anyone wanting good food served by helpful, friendly staff.

Visited Masala Zone Covent Garden for a pretheatre meal on a Saturday and glad we booked as there was a long queue to get in. Overall I was disappointed with the meal after the good reviews on TT. I had dahi puri to start and was presented with a couple of small puri with one chick pea in each! The chicken thali that followed was OK but the service was so slow that we had waited over an hour for the 2 courses to arrive and left without having dessert.

Masala Zone Covent Garden - Good value, very tasty and fresh Indian food. An absolute treat!

Masala Zone, Covent Garden - what a fab meal and a great venue. The decor was very entertaining. The staff were attentive and helpful. We had a mixed sharer starter and then veggie Thali for main. Everything was yummy. We would definately go back.

I and my partner had a grand thali, which was good, with good portions but the vegetable dishes that came with it were disapoointing with not a very authentic flavour, spinach and sweet corn and mushroom and potato in a tomato sauce. I had a lovely vegetarian starter . The atmosphere was great and beautiful decoration of hanging puppets and wonderful service, friendly and thoughtful.

Interesting decoration. Good service, we were late due to traffic but they were accommodating despite they queue outside. Food was average though.

Food was decent, the place was buzzing with colours.

Eating at Masala Zone in Covent Garden with nine friends was a mixed bag. The food was all tasty and well presented but the service was pretty dire. I waited 30 mins for a fruit juice for example and the starters arrived after some people had the mains. Very amateurish. Still, tasty original food would probably make me go back.

The waiter was enthusiastic, helpful and informative. The menu is varied and good value. The air conditioning was too high in the middle of the room but otherwise the venue was pleasant. The presentation of the food was excellent but the big disappointment was that the food was not well cooked or hot enough in temperature. The chapati was cold and not correctly cooked and dishes were cool/cold, even the main curry dish. Hugely disappointing.

Masala Zone in Covent Garden offers great authentic food and nice setting. Wife and I thoroughly enjoued it.

As always, Masala Zone delivered. The Coventry Garden branch is one of my favourites for the decoration (hundreds of Indian puppets suspended from the ceiling) and because I've been so many times now, I've got the menu choices just about nailed. There were three of us dining, all eating vegetarian, so we opted for a selection of hot and cold starters and small dishes: dahi puri, some other kind of puri (which I think was actually a chaat - nice and crunchy and smothered in yoghurt and tamarind sauce) aloo chaat (crispy potato cake) veggie samosas, dahl, naan and an aubergine and pea curry. All fabulous. MZ has got the service just right too - attentive, friendly but not overwhelming. We didn't drink that much, but all the same at £48 for the three including service charge, it was extremely good value for a great meal.

Good tasty home cooking and good value for money.

Great night out, food good, service very good.

Food and service at Masala Zone in Floral Street, Covent Garden was the usual high standard.

masala zone, holborn great service, good wheelchair access and friendly staff

Dinner on a Saturday at Marsala Zone near Covent Garden in London is a rather busy period. The food was good and reasonable value. The nan bread we ordered arrived rather late and only after a reminder. Front of house staff was friendly and helpful, did not rush us once we had finished our meal as some other restaurants do. The Thalis were tasty and reasonable value for money. Good location good food. Will probably come again.
