About Namaste Kathmandu

Namaste on Edinburgh's Forest Road has reopened as Namaste Kathmandu with the same well-respected chef but a new look and menu. A cosy entrance lounge bar leads to a smart, peaceful dining area decorated with fine Nepalese art. For Namaste Kathmandu specialises in North Indian and Nepalese food. Most people come here for the latter, regularly ordering the kathmandu king pawns in papaya, murgh tikka masala, and banepa ko lamb mysore. At the end of the menu is a small but noteable choice of Nepalese dishes such as momo or dumplings (popular in Nepal itself), and chicken dish bhuteko kukhura, A good choice of restaurant for a quick wholesome meal or a leisurely three-course exotic feast. Downstairs there's second smaller and quieter space.

Delicious food and a warm welcome. Portions are a nice size - it's good to leave pleasantly full and able to finish everything. If you're very hungry you'd probably want a starter. Pleasant surroundings and friendly service.

We had dinnner at Namaste Kathmandu in Edinburgh. The food was flavourful and tasted like it had been freshly cooked for us, not cooked earlier and left to sit in the kitchen keeping warm, particularly the popadoms & the nan.

Although it was extremely busy, we six enjoyed an amazing meal. Service was prompt and friendly. We didn't feel rushed in any way. Everyone at the table exclaimed that they were impressed with the quality of the food, the portion size and especially the taste and would return when again in Edinburgh... 4 were from Canada, and they do plan to return! Thank you to all.

Enjoyed a very pleasant meal at Namaste Kathmandu, Edinburgh. This restaurant is handily placed for those attending Fringe festival events at George Square. The menu has a small range of Nepalese courses - we enjoyed the crab curry - and some more easily recognised Indian favourites. The service was friendly and attentive.

Took the team for a meal there. Excellent food and service. Despite being a large group food was prompt and excellent.

Good value for drinks and food.

We went with a group of 12 to celebrate the engagement of a Nepalese friend and the service and food were fantastic - they even played our choice of songs as background music during our meal. Highly recommended.

I have been here twice recently and my opinion is unchanged. Again, I was eating quite early in the evening and I can't complain about anything, the food just wasn't great. Chicken on the bone this time, I had Lamb the last time. Service was good if a little hurried this time.

I came here with very high expectations based on some feedback from other who had eaten here. Was it too high? It was early on a Sunday evening and I wonder if that was the problem. There was nothing you could complain about but the food was only OK. No one in our party of 4 was oohing or ahhing. The flip side to this was the service which was truly excellent and attentive in an unobtrusive way. Last time I ate in this site was 30 years ago I shouldn't wait so long, again.

Namaste Kathmandu have introduced a new menu with more Nepalese dishes. Gave some of teh new dishes a try and we were not disappointed. It is a nice touch being able to select how hot you wanted each dish. Absolutely no complaints. Fantastic food, great service and now more choice!!

The quality and portion size is excellent for the cost. the staff are realy pleasant and welcoming and nothing is a bother to them. And their mango chutney is fantastic!!! Fully recommended.

Nameste Katmandu Edinburgh. Had a lovely meal, good service.

Unfortunately we could not make the restaurant and cancelled at the last minute. The staff were very understanding and pleasent about it. Hope I can go soon.

Went to Namaste Kathmandu with a group of friends visiting Edinburgh Festival. The restaurant is perfectly sited, close to the main Fringe venues. It was very busy and although we had booked in advance as we were on a tight schedule the table wasn't ready. We were also disappointed to discover that there was no Gurkha beer available, despite being prominently advertised on the menu. The food was good and plentiful and the service attentive.

When we arrived at Namaste Kathmandu Toptable had not informed them of our booking. Eventhough they were extremely busy they managed to fit us in with very little waiting. The staff were fantastic and the food outstanding. Extremely good value for money. We will definitely be returning.

Namaste, Edinburgh. We booked this place having tried a superb Nepalase in Dublin before - chasing the dream perhaps?

Thankfully, we weren't disappointed. My partner and I had a special fish starter for 2 which was delicious. real sense of different spices, without overpowering the fish (which was very fresh). My partner then had chicken and I had the Lamb Special (makhani i believe) and again both were very very good. A cut about your standard high street curry house. Recommended!

We were taken our table immediately at the Namaste Kathmandu, Edinburgh however service was rather slow as the restaurant was fully booked. The food thankfully was fabulous. Good size portions with quality ingredients.

Always a treat, the staff here were most obliging and careful with their guests this evening. Always recommended.

Had a fantastic meal in Namaster Kathmandu. The restaurant was full which is always a good sign of good food. The service was a little slow but that is probably because there were three large parties in. The staff are extremely polite. Always a pleasure eating here.

Pleasant Restauraunt in the center of the old town. Excellent food, and very friendly and polite service. We had a few problems in our party during our dinner there and the way the managers and staff dealt with it was nothing short of amazing.

Namaste Kathmandu Edinburgh The staff were friendly and helpful. Rather a long wait for the main courses. More choice of side dishes on the menu would be nice, we asked for dhal as a side dish but it came as a main. Nice cosy restaurant for a relaxed evening out. I chose veg options but the combination of navratan korma, spinach and dhal was far too bland I have had the korma before but this time it seemed a bit pasty in texture and taste. The wine was good at £11.95 and the kulcha was nice.
