About Portobello Gold Restaurant

Portobello Gold restaurant has been shining gently in London’s hippest area – Notting Hill – for more than twenty years now. Once a Hell’s Angel hangout, It’s a unique establishment that’s a pub, bar, gallery space, restaurant, hotel, live music venue, cream teashop and wireless hotspot and it’s a superb location for a rooftop barbecue, too. Bill Clinton’s eaten here, and Daniel Craig was once a barman - celebs love the low-key welcome. Concentrate your mind on the restaurant for a sec: a tropical conservatory with tiled floor, thriving plants, wicker chairs, wooden tables. Start with chicken liver and pecan nut pate with red onion, then share an amazing seafood platter with your dining partner. The wine list is blinding, with nearly twenty by the glass and Portobello Gold’s children’s/grazing menu must be the best in London. Set menus change with the zodiac months. And if you love it so much you don’t want to go home? No problem. Funky, comfy rooms await you upstairs.

Portobello gold in London's Notting hill is a lovely place. The restaurant is an inside conservatory w trees and candlelight.

The steak was great, the chicken wings proper chicken and the burgers mega. Though frozen fries never impress me in a meal costing £17. Cheesecake q bland - crumble lacking crumble. There was a mistake w the bill too. But overall lovely service & a treat.

Love this place. Haven't been there for about fifteen years, but it's still as good as it ever was. Great decor, great service and great food. I won't be leaving it fifteen years before going back again.

One of those gastric pubs you walk in and where initially its like a lovely old style pub - then your welcomes in by the staff and lead through and transported onto a secret dining area- well it feels that way, out in the conservatory where your booth style table is surrounded by plants to make you feel enclosed. The menu offers a range of food, with the speciality of oysters. If you're lucky you will be served by the the tall guy with the beard and funky moustache, who not only was attentive, but highly amusing along with having an excellent knowledge of the food and wine on offer which allowed us to have an excellent dining experience with fabulous food, toasty wine and Devine desert wine. Our only regret was that our other friends weren't there to have shared the experience, so will have to return!!!

Really enjoyed the food here. I liked the outside/greenhouse seating, a different feel when you're in there! Good service and good value!

The venue and food was great. What let the place down was the waitress. Simple things like repeating the order, and making sure nothing is forgotten were not done and mistakes were made. I can only hope she is new and will get better. Other than that, i will be going back...

Late lunch at Portobello Gold. Food was good and fresh; service also good. Bustling atmosphere. Will return.

Portobello Gold is a brilliant little restaurant, from the outside it looks like a traditional pub, but walk through into a greenhouse area. The food for the price was excellent, and the wine list not too bad. The only complaint that I heard from the table was that it smelt a little bit. However I couldnt smell anything but red wine, and the garlic on my pasta. Which was Excellent.

Fantastic service from delightful staff to whom nothing is too much trouble. An optional 10% is added to the bill only which seemed too little. Food is nice, far classier than most pub menus, we had cajun prawns which were very fresh and then duck and salmon as our mains. The duck in peppercorn sauce with parsnip mash was delicious if every so slightly over cooked. The restaurant area is set in a glass conservatory surrounded by banana and yucca plants. A good find.

I booked the Portobello Gold as I was visiting the Electric Cinema, also in Portabello Road. The restaurant is at the rear of a traditional pub and serves a variety of Bistro type fare. The staff were very welcoming and accomodating but the atomospher was lacking something, Other tables seemed to be occupied by people drinking rather than eating, although they may have already eaten and decided to stay on. Nothing wrong with the food but I am not rushing back. Would pop in for a pint. though.

I took my brother to the Portobello Gold in Nottinghill for dinner last Friday to celebrate his birthday. He managed 2 of their famous oyster shooters and we had a very tasty dinner, served in their jungle like dining room with the roof opened up to the skies and to let in the good weather. All round a very good evening, and not too expensive either, will definately be going back. Thank you

Food was lovely, especially the seafood platter and sashimi! Excellent ambiance and had a great time.

The Portobello Gold - London. Great wee place, full of character. Service was a bit odd, it had clearly been a busy day but the setting was great and the food was good when it came. A good pub grub choice. Would recommend for an experience. Only one teeny toilet though!

Portobello Gold is a quirky little restaurant with some great corner tables, tucked up on balconies overlooking the rest of the diners. The atmosphere is warm, cosy and a bit shabby chic. The food is good - we had a lovely pheasant.

We had quite a nice meal at Portobello Gold in Notting Hill, service was attentive, and food was nice, quite simple.

Portobello Gold is a very "average" restaurant. The back restaurant could have a kind of charm, but unfortunately the smell of stale beer and drunkenness seeps back into the restaurant and kind of ruins the effect of the tropical plants. Food was nice - my seabass was very good, whereas my partner's fish & chips was pretty soggy and not so good. We would go back though to investigate the wine list a little further. Could be much better as a restaurant though, with a little refresh.

This is a place to go if you're into your music, the real Notting Hill vibe and laid back atmosphere. Food was good and service was quick. Good place to start your weekend.

Portobello Gold has much potential the cute booths set above the main dining floor and among the plan foliage were original and atmosheric, the service was excellently attentive without being over bearing. The food was ok - distinctly average especially for the price - actually a bit of a shame as this could be a real find. I will definiely go back as its proximity to the electric cinema makes it supra convenient but it would be so great to have been bowled over by the food...

Really great decor and ambience, but waitstaff were more than a little dazed and confused! Sunday roast was ok, nothing more. Starters were good though and the a la carte menu looked good. Very laid back vibe and the bar was packed later on for the Sunday Night live music. A reasonable choice in a great location.

It's a nice place to chill out. They server good seafood dishes and the service was good too. We will definitely visit them again
