About Simurgh

Simurgh has all the ingredients for a fun night out with friends – good food, good wine and belly dancers. Who could ask for anything more? Located in Covent Garden on Garrick Street, Simurgh is a Persian/Iranian restaurant which is ideal for work parties and birthdays, and the dining room – with exposed brick walls, Mediterranean blue accents and Persian carpets – has a laid-back and friendly atmosphere. The chefs at Simurgh are inspired by centuries-old Persian recipes with a contemporary twist, and we love the duck and walnut stew cooked in a thick pomegranate and walnut sauce with cinnamon and saffron, and the lamb and lime curry cooked with yellow lentils and aubergine in a saffron and tomato sauce.

Good food and great service. The belly dancer was an added bonus. Fun night - recommended.

Simurgh in Garrick street. Location is great and the ambience very pleasant, with relaxing music and pleasant decor, which escapes the tacky and gaudy. Unfortunately the food, although plenty, is not as good as the atmosphere...bland and un-original. It's well cooked and there are some good parts of it, but generally not exciting. Price is at Covent Garden levels, therefore too high for the quality of food offered.Service is prompt and friendly, and on a wednesday evening it was pleasantly quiet

Bad food ... I don't recommend it at all

Lovely restaurant, good food and attentive staff

Simurgh in Covent Garden was a really great place to take a group for a birthday meal. There were 9 of us and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and explain the best parts of the menu. I also recommend booking for a time when you will get to see the Belly Dancer - it really added an extra element to the evening!

The Persian cuisine at Simurgh is delicious and enjoyed in beautiful l surrounding. Hadn't anticipated a dancer on the menu, but made the experience all the more memorable.

Simurgh, Covent Garden. The food was good although not traditional Persian - strange decision to serve 3 "exotic" rice dishes with each meal when in Iranian cuisine rice is so important it is usually matched exactly to the dish it is being served alongside. But very enjoyable nonetheless and good value for decent portions compared to many Covent Garden restaurants. Service was very friendly, the ambience was suitably ethnic with Iranian music and decor.

Simurgh, Garrick St, London WC2E. Have long been a customer of this restaurant, which hasn't changed a bit over the years. Excellent kebabs, imaginative stews, great ambience. Will keep coming back for more.

Nice atmosphere and good food. Will be going there again.

Simurgh, London: On the pricey side, but the creative menu, presentation and ambience make it a treat of sorts. The grills are absolutely fine but probably better value at less upscale establishments in Bayswater and North London. It is dishes llke duck granate and a wide range of vegetarian and pescatarian options that make this place stand out from the competition.

Food was lovely , service was great and the atmosphere was relaxed. Restaurant was busy all night considering it was a Wednesday. Would defiantly go again.

The restaurant had great ambience. It was really busy so the service wasn't that good. Food was very good.

Fantastic restaurant, friendly staff and lovely food, we will come back again and will tell friends about this venue.

Starter was more like a dip and the main of duck was very tough and tasteless. Not impressed and wouldn't recommend.

I booked for 23 people. When I arrived there was a table for 16 and a separate table for 4 set up. The manager smiled as he welcomed me and seemed genuinely bemused that I was not happy at being 3 seats short. We 'squeezed' two extra seats onto the long table, one at each end, and thankfully one of our group did not arrive otherwise he'd have had to sit on somebody's knee. Why did they accept the booking when they did not have the capacity? To be fair, the food was interesting.

Starter was more like a dip than an actual starter. Duck was very tough and favours just not that good. Also didn't realise that we had booked and had to wait for 10 mins to get our table.

Shame.

Lovely cosy restaurant, amazing food. Will go back again

The food is really nice and the portions are fairly generous. We tried lamb with lime stew and chicken with apricot stew. Both delicious and served with 3 different varieties of rice and a salad.

Excellent food and service as usual. My fourth trip and brought along a friend and he loved it! Bumped into another friend who dined in there on the same night. Will definitely come back for more!

it was our 2nd visit at Simurgh, the food is still great, the service this time was slow and not very attentive.
