The south London local reopens following a full makeover, complete with a modern British menus.
Located a short distance from the station, the Young’s pub has been reinvented across its two floors, packed with quirky artwork, a new outdoor terrace and upstairs cocktail bar.
A British pub at its heart, the Clapham North has been carefully kept its traditional period features with exposed brickwork and a cosy original fireplace blended with pops of colours throughout with neon lighting and an eclectic mix of contemporary portraiture.
With leather sofas and mismatched furnishings downstairs, there are hidden TV screens for catching all the sporting action, as well as a new outdoor terrace.
Upstairs is the World’s End Saloon cocktail bar with mosaic tiling and a mural remembering the late Dame Vivienne Westwood. The bar, made from reclaimed Belgian oak railway sleepers, serves a selection of cocktails from a Negroni snow cone to a Guinness Bloody Mary, along with a concise list of wines from across the world and, of course, Young’s on tap.
There’s a seasonal menu of pub classics using British produce i. Open from lunch to dinner, the menus focus on pub grub with a twist, from bar snacks of Chicken Kiev scotch egg and Marmite and Pitchfork sausage roll, to sharing small and big plates with Slow-cooked beef brisket sliders and Lamb shoulder tacos. Other dishes include Forerib burger with ale onions and gravy, Cornish lamb pastry pie and a Charred bavette on flatbread.
On Sundays the signature roast takes centre stage with a choice of Dingley Dell pork belly, Roasted half chicken, 35-day aged West Country rump of beef or Smoky tofu and beetroot wellington, all served with crispy garlic roasted potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and seasonal vegetables.
