About The Olive Branch Bistro

Set on a lively corner where Edinburgh’s New Town meets boho Broughton, The Olive Branch Bistro is painted olive green, just so you won't miss it. The ambience here is informal and relaxed, but also friendly and romantic. With exposed-brick walls, smart modern bistro seating and huge windows through which you can watch the world go by, The Olive Branch Bistro is a favourite restaurant not only for lunch and dinner, but also weekend brunch. The Olive Branch Bistro’s European menu includes starter of charred smoked salmon with Parmesan, rocket and balsamic vinegar; main course of Crombies sausages with sweet potato mash and red pepper sauce, although you can also opt for a great burger; and dessert of killer banoffee crêpes. Very reasonable wines are on offer along with a super list of whiskies. The Olive Branch Bistro is all about relaxed, informal dining in the neighbourhood.

The olive branch in broughton street was superb. The food was fresh and seasonal, we cleared our plates and also had dessert even though we were full. Would recommend this restaurant to all my friends

Excellent meal, quaint setting and handy for the broughton street pubs! Food was nice, affordable and portion sizes were good.

Dined at the Olive Branch on Broughton Street. The service was very friendly and the food was quick and satisfying. We had the burger and fish and chips, the portions were generous (which was what we wanted) and the atmosphere was great. Would definitely recommend.

Clients cancelled and rang restaurant to cancel at last minute I have deleted from bookings.

Haven't been to The Olive Branch Bistro, Edinburgh for some time and was so glad made the choice to visit there for dinner last night. The food was wonderful as was the service - will definately be going back in the near future - well worth a visit!

Food was good although a little too much balsamic on the salads. Excellent value too.

The ambiance was nice but the some of the portions where very little, they look like a starter more than a main course. At an average of 10 pounds per dish you can certainly find better options..

great deal for £12. Portions sizes are a little small, not sure i would pay full price for them. We chose the lamb skewers with yoghurt and salad to start and fillet of plaice with potatoes as a main which were both delicious. would recommend especially for students as its a bit more special; high quality food and good wine but not extortionately expensive,

The Olive Branch, in my mind, was associated with their spell in George 4th Bridge, following on from Herbs Bistro on the same premises to produce top quality food, at what where reasonably prices. The prices remain attractive but unfortunately, as I really wanted this to be just as good as it had been, I cannot really in all honest say the food was up there. Perhaps ok if stumbling in after a few drinks (more than possible in that neck of the woods!) but not pursuing for a culinary delight...

We choose the bistro based on TT reviews, price and location. At £12 for a glass of wine and 2 courses it seemed very reasonable and for pre-theatre it was ticking all the right boxes. We had a lovely dining experience, on arrival it was warm and cosy with relaxing background music. Special menu was not extensive but still had plenty of choice and both starters and mains were excellent. Service got stretched as it got busy but still very attentive. Highly recommended and we will return.

Dinner at the Olive Branch Bistro in Edinburgh was very good. Service was very friendly and speedy, but without being overly suffocating. The food was of a high standard, though it was a shame that they had run out of one of their specials early. The steaks were excellent and cooked how we liked. The chocolate coffee mousse is highly recommended for dessert. The cost of the restaurant is a little higher than other similar restaurants in Edinburgh, but still worth it. We will be back.

The Olive Branch Bistro, Edinburgh

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Service was good and waitresses very pleasant. Quality of food was first class and could not fault. Would go again.

Ate early evening meal at the Olive Branch Bistro, Broughton Street, Edinburgh with three friends. Lovely venue - huge windows, large tables, comfy chairs. We ordered from the special offer menu £11.95 for two courses with a glass of wine - best value for money we have had in a long time. Food was excellent and two courses were large enough for us not to need to think about dessert. Some places cut back portions on their cheap deals, but not the case here. Service with a smile too - great!

The olive branch was lovely, good food, friendly staff and a nice location. Will be returning. Went for the special menu, £11.95, a very limited choice but everything was lovely and even struggled to choose between the little offered.

Cosy relaxed atmosphere. Staff friendly and attentive. Service and food excellent.

Olive Branch, edinburgh

The Olive Branch in Edinburgh is a lovely little restaurant. The service was really good; the waitresses were very friendly and attentive and suggested some great wine choices. My friends lemon and chilli risotto starter was a triumph whilst my main of hake was lovely-the fish was perfectly cooked. Would happily return next time I'm in Edinburgh.

Olive Branch, Edinburgh. Lovely food as ever. Lovely staff and atmosphere.

We had dinner for two in the Olive Branch Bistro on Broughton St, Edinburgh last night. I had pan fried sea bass with spiced potatoes and spinach followed by Christmas pudding and my partner had pork and cider stew followed by maple and walnut cheesecake.

Lovely little venue, we booked last minute through Top Table but we were given a gorgeous window table tucked away in the corner. The food was standard fare for an upmarket Edinburgh bistro and the service was good.

We had the xmas lunch menu and weren't overly impressed with the food in the Olive Branch. There wasn't much ambience or xmas spirit in the restaurant and in fact it was rather cold.

This was my first visit to The Olive Branch Bistro in Edinburgh. We were going to the Playhouse to see We Will Rock You so our choice of eatery was based on the Bistro's proximity to the theatre. We had the pre-theatre menu, currently the Christmas menu. A good choice of dishes and everything we had was very nice. Good value menu, good service and pleasant staff. We will go back.
