The Palmerston re-opened after a much needed refurbishment on the 27th of February 2004. In 2008 The Palmerston entered the top 60 in the UK Restaurant awards.

An unusual disappointment with steak

Always reliable for imaginative cooking of the best seasonal British produce. One to treasure in a street of many eateries!

Another lovely meal for two at The Palmerston. The food is always excellent, I haven't had a bad mouthful so we have already booked in again for later this month with the in-laws!

Excellent spring menu with English asparagus paired with a soft-boiled egg, Parma ham

The Palmerston on Lordship Lane was great. Lovely steak and the poached strawberries were divine.

The Palmerston, Lordship Lane. Excellent value gastro-pub, good service.

A warm Spring day, amazingly early English asparagus with impeccable sauce mousseline

I'm about 8 years behind the curve, but I'm glad I've finally got to The Palmerston in Dulwich. Fantastic Thai salad, the only one I've had in this country that has hit the mark, and the verjus with my head chef's husband's dish of calves liver had him seriously impressed. £85 for shared starter, main each, shared dessert, wine and coffee - incredibly reasonable.

Lordship Lane is awash with good places to eat, drink and get your own supplies for home consumption, but the Palmerston has to be in the vanguard as far as cooking is concerned. Service cheerful

The Palmerston does not disappoint and our lunch included a delicious bouillabaisse with cod, gurnard, saffron potatoes

My fiance and I went for a meal at The Palmerston in East Dulwich. As we weren't all that hungry we shared all three courses: scotch broth, oxtail risotto and fig pudding with brandy sauce. The starter was a bit bland but the main and dessert were fantastic. Service, wine and atmosphere were also good. It came to £50 so if we had ordered a separate starter, main and desert each it would have been close to £100 which was a bit alarming.

Palmerston, Lordship Lane SE22. Saturday night and busy. Good service and really extensive menu (including calves brain salad!). We had a very good evening.

We will definitely be visiting The Palmerston in East Dulwich again! Every dish from the modern English/French style menu was cooked to perfection. Our group sampled a couple of starters & desserts between us, all excellent. Staff are attentive & friendly, the atmosphere is nice with all of the tables occupied all evening & the wine list offered lots of options. Only shame was a two-hour turnaround on the table, luckily we were just about ready to leave-albeit reluctantly!

Always reliable, luscious ribeye steak with horseradish butter topping, crisp fries

An pleasant gastropub in Dulwich with basically good, hearty food. Lamb was very tender - main reservation is that everything seems to be very rich and portions are huge, so we left feeling a bit bloated. Still, it's a nice place with an extensive wine list.

Super lunch as ever with the new January menu coming up trumps. Calf's brains with brown butter

Late lunch on Xmas eve - perhaps that was the problem. Service ok but a bit off hand and inattentive. Food and wine too expensive for what is offered. Food was mixed; some of us very much enjoyed theirs (cod), some found it ok but not great (rabbit), and one person found theirs to be very poor such that they refused to pay for it (steak).

We received a warm welcome at the Palmerston in Dulwich. The lunch menu was very good and good value. The a la carte also looked interesting. Excellent and efficient service and the cask ale was great.

The Palmerston is a great gastropub. The food is interesting and delicious and the staff are really helpful and friendly. Would recommend.
