About The Thames Indian

The Thames Indian has been a fixture on the London dining scene since 1985, delighting city dwellers and tourists alike with its Bangladeshi and Indian food and keenly professional service. Cosy and welcoming, the clean, modern dining room with its almost hotel-restaurant look is situated only a few moments from the best of the South Bank, a hop, skip and jump from Waterloo Station while its very close proximity to the IMAX cinema makes it a popular choice for pre- or post-movie dining. Packed with well-known curry house favourites, The Thames Indian’s menu is familiar in its choices while also providing a few surprises in those less often sampled specialties of the house fresh from the homely kitchens of Bangladesh. Regular offers, including an excellent set lunch, ensure that The Thames Indian offers competitive prices, while its stalwart status is a guarantee of quality both in food and in service.

Thames Indian is a small restaurant in Waterloo, we chose this place as it was near the station. 8 of us came here for dinner; the service was good, the atmosphere great as the restaurant was packed and overall we enjoyed the food. I like hot dishes, and for once, a dish rated 3 chillies was indeed hot and spicey so that was a plus!

Pretty good, nice food, friendly service

Never eaten here before and did not know it existed - must have walked by many times.

We only booked it as a pre-theatre 50% off offer and it was certainly well worth it.

The food was very tasty and the offer made the price very reasonable. We would return.

A great meal at Thames Indian and great value with 50% off food. Drinks were reasonable too. Good location very close to Waterloo station.

Food was very tasty. With the 50% off offer, the meal was also an absolute bargain!

Good food but service wasn't all that fast. Couldn't complain though. Good standard curry

Good value and food

Excellent food and service.

The food was very good and the restaurant in itself OK, unfortunately the service was only average as the servers were too worried about their turnover that the service in itself.

the food was great, the only thing that mard the evening was having to get the waiter to add the special offer of the 25% as this was not added. I always think this is bad as most of the time the offer is displayed for them to see when the booking is made to have to ask is slightly embarrassing, especially if you're taking people out for a meal.

Good food, good service.

Excellent food. Extremely convenient location if catching a train from Waterloo. Will go back.

Handy location if you're going to the Old Vic or need a train from Waterloo. Tasty food. A Little campt.

Not terrible food, but left a stale taste in the mouth when the man in charge claimed we hadn't paid enough, as everyone had indeed paid their part of the bill, plus more for a tip. We all had to pay more to cover what must have stemmed from a lost receipt (or just plain ignorance). Unfortunately, though a couple of staff members were lovely, the head waiter/ manager was not, and as this was a birthday celebration it would have been nice if he could have made a an effort to not be miserable.

My first visit to The Thames Indian was an unqualified success. Bravo!

Had a meal at the Thames Indian restaurant, Waterloo, Friday 25th Nov. Staff were courteous and friendly. Food was good and did not have to wait long for meal. I think there was a little bit of a language barrier at times as I ordered Chicken Tikka pathia and was served Lamb pathia. I did not realise until I had started the meal but did not complain as it tasted very nice!

Went to The Thames Indian near Waterloo station on a Friday before going to the theatre. The food was hit and miss and a bit unrefined in places. The samosas were good and seemed homemade but the pao bhaji came with half a slightly burnt american burger bun that was not very good. The tandoori chicken was very good and came with nicely fried onions. Fresh spices were used as there were large lumps of ginger and garlic in other meals. Service was all right but I had to ask twice for tap water.

Great place. Very popular, they got us in close to our booking time even though it was very busy. Great food and service. Definately be back!

The Thames Indian has a range of interesting dishes beyond the standard Indian fare which is good to see. One of the dishes we ordered wasn't to our taste but overall the food was well prepared and innovative. Service was good although the upsell factor was a little annoying.

very good indian They had some very nice chefs specials
