I booked the special early doors meal as I was just in Edinburgh for the day visiting my son. We arrived at 5.30 and the restaurant was empty We were led to a downstairs room and the food and service were fine but we were the only people in the room so it had no atmosphere. I presumed no one else was in but when we left there were plenty of people in the upstairs dining room (although there were still spaces) I felt we had been ostracised and felt rather upset that we had been forced to dine alone. The only explanation I can think of was that we had opted for the early doors reduced price menu as the restaurant was certainly not fully booked.I will not be returning.

This was our first time at Angels with Bagpipes and we had a fantastic lunchtime treat. We ate off the lunchtime menu and everything was almost without fault, beautiful food great service and great value for money. My only small gripe would be that I don't add salt to my food and chips that came with my fish had already been salted but we will definitely be back for dinner soon for dinner.

Delicious meal at Angels with Bagpipes in Edinburgh. All three of us had the fish and chips and special mention should be made of the peas, we agreed that an extra side order would have been gobbled up. Lovely surroundings and attentive service. Can't wait to go back

We visited AwB for our wedding anniversary - having read reviews on various websites and not having been before I thought it would be a nice treat for us. The food was good - although slightly a case of style over substance - but we were both rather offended by the maitre d' commenting on our arrival that we were 'only 6 minutes late'. We were then crammed into a corner next to the coat cupboard & it took a long time for our order to be taken. We probably won't be visiting again.

Angels with Bagpipes in Edinburgh was a highly enjoyable experience. The food was excellent as was the service and selection of drinks on offer.

I wouls highly reccomend this restaraunt to anyone and will certainly visit again.

This was a good place to have a late lunch after an afternoon wandering the Royal Mile. The fish and chips were excellent and the 2 course meal deal excellent value for money.

Really lovely setting and food!

Love this place! Have dined here a few times and food is always flawless.

The one downside is the tables are a pushed a bit too close together and on a busy Saturday night that can make you feel as if you're at a table with everyone else in the restaurant. But the service was great despite the rush.

Angels with Bagpipes in Edinburgh has a prime location on the Royal Mile but, far from being a tourist trap, it sets a higher standard. We tried their lunch at 15 quid for two courses. The duck egg and white bean soup with truffel oil were good, but the fish and chips as the main course were a bit dull and bland.

Angels with Bagpipes, Edinburgh We ate of the £11.95 for 2 courses menu. Excellent starter of Mackeral Pattie. Main course of Fish and Chips, Fish lacked any real taste but the the Pork Belly, Cheek and Black Pudding was superb. Overall experience was good, service excellent. Our second time here and still not sure if it is trying to be a Restaurant, Bistro or Cafe'. For the price it was very good

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal, food was great and the service was excellent. Great value on the 2 courses for £11.95 deal, however the a la carte menu is very expensive.

This is the second time I have been to Angels with Bagpipes and for the second time I was not disapointed. I took 6 friends and they to loved it. Well done to all the staff for making our evening a pleasure.

Angels with Bagpipes in Edinburgh is a really lovely venue. The decor is lovely and all very clean. Sadly, the day we went they had an incident with the extractor fan and were struggling to cook. They could not have apologised more. We were given a complimentary drink and decided to have a starter to keep us going. They did offer a limited menu but we wanted a bit more. Both starters were delicious. Full of flavour and well presented. Cannot wait to go back and have a full meal.

Angels with Bagpipes, Edinburgh

An excellent lunch once again - good food and friendly, helpful service. Only negative - high noise levels making converstaion difficult. No one's fault just a large party enjoying themselves. Will ceratinly use a again when conversation less important.

Angels with Bagpipes

343 High Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1PW

Superb food, friendly staff. Ideal location on Royal Mile. Restauarant dining areas and toilets spotlessly clean.

Looking forward to returning in the future.

Good food and good value. Very stylish decor. The service is great. Definitely be back on next trip to Edinburgh.

Angels with Bagpipes in Edinburgh was delightful. We went for lunch with some friends and took advantage of the 2 course lunch offer. The quality of food was very good albeit the portions were modest. The staff were very helpful, even providing a fish in breadcrumbs for one of our party whom preferred that to the excellent batter. Lovely - will be back

I brought two friends who were visiting from Ireland and we were all hugely impressed with the quality of the food. I would highly recommend the mackerel pate. The restaurant is in a beautiful location and the decor is very stylish. Unfortunately the service was very slow but luckily we were not in a rush so it wasn't an issue on this occasion.

Had 2courses for £11.95. Excellent fine dining food. However portions very small, therefore had to order sides and have a third course. It would be perfect for lunch but for dinner expect to pay more.

Fish was slightly translucent, maybe ok but not to my liking. We each had 2 courses but they charged for one 3 course meal and one single course, which cost me 2 pounds more. Not significant, but slightly annoying.

Having heard lots of good things about Angels with Bagpipes from friends, we ventured there last Sunday for the two course lunch special. It was fabulous! My husband had the Duck egg starter with chicken, sausages and lentils and pork done 3 ways main, amazing shiny jus and crackling - both reportedly fantastic. I had the mackerel pate on little toasts with a wonderful horseradish cream and goats cheese tart with fennel, apple. Clean and very tasty. Service was absolutely superb! Great value, go

We recently ate at Angels with Bagpipes on 343 High Street, Edinburgh. Well the taster menu is fantastic, the location great, the staff lovely...well I may not be so full of praise when mentioning the floor manager who I think was quite rude, she seemed to resent being asked to do any thing for us. It is surely well below her status. Apart from this slight attitude problem I would recommend the experience.

Angels with Bagpipes has a brilliant location in Edinburgh, being located a short 5 min walk from the castle. Restaurant is on two levels and is light and airy. Food brilliant, both in taste and presentation. Good service too.

Excellent value fixed price lunchtime and afternoon menu.

Angels and Bagpipes on The Royal Mile is a very smart place to eat with very good service and decent food, but watch out as lunch size portions are very much lunch size, plus this restaurant is on the bandwagon with "sides". More and more places to eat are offering in their "lunch deal" mains that do not contain veg, chips, etc. A £12 lunch suddenly becomes £15 unless the fish and chips is chosen. This fish and chips by the way has the fish with the lightest batter I have ever come across. 8/10

Angels with Bagpipes - Edinburgh was an excellent choice for a late lunch, very cosy atmosphere, with excellent food. We were really impressed by the chefs combinations, and attentive staff. A must visit for dinner or lunch when in the city centre.

Angels with Bagpipes, Edinburgh Good service and an enjoyable meal great company!!

Angels with Bagpipes, Edinburgh very good food.We arrived with an extra diner, a 10 year old.The staff were very helpful, despite it being a Saturday and quite busy

Angels with Bagpipes has a nice atmosphere. The staff were very friendly but I found the portions to be very small.

Edinburgh's Angels with Bagpipes is a lovely little restaurant a stones throw from the castle. Excellent food, even better service and highly recommended.

Excellent as always :-)

had a super lunch at angels with bagpipes it was very good great and staff very good location on the royal mile edinburgh would recommend a visit

good food, set menu was excellent value, staff were very accomodating

I took my Mum for a belated mother's day special treat and she absolutely loved it. The location on the High Street could not have been better - we stepped out afterwards to find Scots mist swirling around the spires of St Giles Cathedral. The food was adventurous and delicious and the ambience was relaxing and comfortable. Even my nervous Mum was made to feel at ease by the friendy staff. I can only think of good things to say.

Fabulous restaurant with great service and excellent vegetarian option on the lunch menu a pleasant change from risotto.

Another great find for us through Top Table. Portion size on special menu perfect for me, however, maybe a bit small for men or growing lads.A small point as we will definitely add it to our return favourites on our visits to Edinburgh.

We had a very good time for lunch! Food is really good and service is nice too! Recommend!

Angels with Bagpipes was enjoyable. The menu was interesting and everything we went for tasted lovely. My only criticism would be timings. We ordered a cocktail as an apperitive. We then went to order our food, the starters arrived before the cocktails were ready. If the cocktails are going to take some time, then delay the food. I don't understand how you can serve a dish with no drinks on the table. A good restaurant should be able to time things better. Real shame

angels with bagpipes in edinburgh sounded and looked lovely on the website. i expected a romantic ambient setting. unfortunately i must have been seated outside of the main restauran,t shown on the website,. as nothing was the same. it was bog standard and not at all what i was expecting. the restaurant looked lovely from outside though. the service was friendly and prompt, the food was nice but nothing special

Angels with Bagpipes Edinburgh Tasty good value food in a stylish contemporary setting. Refreshing modern restaurant on the traditional Royal Mile.

We went to Angels with Bagpipes on Mothers Day, it was a good choice as we really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and every mum got a complimentary glass of prosecco. Would happily go again.

We booked Angels with Bagpipes in Edinburgh after reading some great reviews, unfortunatly it did not quiet match up to the expectation. The starters were good but the Cullen Skink had pieces of undercooked potato however the Beef tartar was fantastic. The main course was disappointing as the food was barely warm, in fact some of it was cold, the dessert was good although with the salted caramel ice cream I was unable to taste the salt but was still pleasant.

Angels with Bagpipes

Lovely food - a deal for 11.95 for two courses. Drinks are expensive, however, with a basic bottle of rose at 18.00 being the cheapest. Waitress misheard our order for 2 Baileys, and brought us 2 Bellinis - £13 each! However, fault was rectified, even although we drank them.

Angels with Bagpipes in Edinburgh was a beautiful venue with a nice relaxed atmosphere. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. My only slight niggles were that it was quite cold as our table was right by the door (but can this really be helped) and the fact that we weren't given menus for 20 minutes after arrival but the atmosphere more than made up for it. I love the names of the ladies and gents toilets

I was really looking forward to a second visit. The food was nice though portions quite small. However, the real down side was the ambience. I had taken my in laws for lunch and was deeply embarressed, was like sitting in a pub ! There was a really rowdy table of 10 -12 in the area we were seated and the music being piped was too loud, not conducive to conversation or a relaxed lunch. The manager should know to place tables like those I mention downstairs to keep other diners happy.

Really enjoyable lunch, the food was great. Intend to go again

We took advantage of the Angels&Bagpipes set menu to find a lovely restaurant in good location and with a nice ambience. Very good price especially considering location, service and quality. Food lovely but I would recommend to add sides for some of the main choices. Fish&chips and Pork, both very good, followed by cheese or chocolate rice pudding again very good. We would like to go back for an evening dinner to do the restaurant justice and would recommend the same to other diners.

Very good. Alas a little square of tablet with coffee would have made it perfect!

Angels with Bagpipes, Edinburgh. Ate here on 10th March. We both ended up choosing the same main and starter from the special offer menu. My only quibble was that the menu was very limited. We had fish and chips, absolutely delicious and chocolate rice pudding, also devine!! service was very good. could do with some air conditioning in the restaurant as it was very warm!

Celebrated our 2nd anniversary at Angels with Bagpipes in Edinburgh. We were greeted with a complimentary glass of fizz! The meal was exquisite, all 3 courses. Staff were very attentive but not overbearing in any way. The restaurant was busy but it still felt very intimate. I can't wait to return again.
