Highly recommend - excellent food, lovely atmosphere and great service and all for decent value for money

What a fabulous restaurant! We altered this booking several times & eventually there were 10 of us who dined!! Some people had the mackerel to start & it looked delicious. Afterwards most of us had the steak & it was superb! I could have eaten it all over again straight after!! However I had a chocolate & toffee affair that again was just as yummy. I highly recommend this off the beaten track restaurant, as would all of my fellow diners...from the food to the hosts it was all a pleasure.

Fantastic! Would return!! xx

We had a wonderful evening at Annexe - food, wine, service, atmosphere all excellent, we will definitely be back.

My wife and I visited Annexe on busy saturday night. The restaurant had a great atmosphere, very buzzy and lively. The restaurant is a lovely romantic place, potted plants and candle light, though some tables are a little close. The food was excellent. My vegetarian starter and main course were very good and well presented and of good value. My wife enjoyed her fish main course and starter also, but I found my torte desert disapointing. Service was excellent. Annexe is a recomended place to eat.

Fantastic service from the little French chap at the front of house of Annexe in Birmingham. He was very friendly & helped make the night a pleasurable experience. We both had some plump scallops to start and a shared a delicious rib of beef for our main course. Annexe is tucked away at the top of Corporation Street & is a bit of a walk from the main track however it is certainly worth visiting. Two courses each, a bottle of white & half a dozen drinks all for under £90. Good food & good value.

We were pleasantly surprised given the quiet location to find that Annexe in Birmingham was a lovely, intimate yet buzzing venue. The food, particularly the scallop special, was lovely. Unfortunately the service let it down. The staff were overly attentive when we didn't want it and when the restaurant was at its busiest - almost hovering over the table and bringing the courses far too quickly - and inattentive when we didn't - we had to chase the wine and taxi we ordered a couple of times!

Annexe, Birmingham. Very good food, great service and lovely ambience. I'd like to try it on a busier night to see what it was like then but on a quiet Thursday it was really good. Not the best value though, just a little bit pricey.

Easter Saturday dinner at Annexe Birmingham. Restaurant was suprisingly quiet. We had seafood sharing platter to start, this was the highlight of the meal, absolutely lovely, would recommend this. For mains I had duck, my partner had tortellini, both very good, as was the bottle of house red which was also only £13! Had the berry assiette dessert to share which was ok but the weakest course. Flavours a little bland and the tart and cheesecake were both over refridgerated/almost frozen.

A lovely suprise when we walked in...the restaurant felt initimate and really enjoyed the old movies being played and the music in the background. We received excellent service and attention to detail and the food was of a very high standard (I recommend the hand cut chips and bread and butter pudding!). I will be making a return visit shortly :-)

Great venue, fast service, great food.

I went there for the set lunch menu, which changes often so it's always something new and fresh. The service is great, the food is delicious and it's a nice atmosphere.

Excellent attention to detail and ambience. Delicious meal.

Annexe in Birmingham - lovely bistro atmosphere - food and service good

Annexe restaurant was simply superb! The food was amazing, possibly the finest 3 courses we have had. The service was exeptional, with the staff being very friendly! The restaurant owner met us as we walked in and made is feel very welcome throughout the whole of the evening. Would most definately recommend this restaurant, and we will most certainly be visiting it again soon!

Friendly and attentive service, with a lot of personal touches. Lovely atmosphere and great food. We will definitely be returning.

Just fantastic. Frontage and location underwhelming. Dining room, atmosphere, service and food all outstanding. Very enjoyable

A great place, superb food and service. We will be back

The Annexe in Birmingham was fab. The food and atmosphere was amazing anf i would definately go there again.

so pleased with my evening and i can't wait to rebook and go back.

thank you

I had a very good experience at Annexe. The food and service were excellent, all of us enjoyed our meals and would definitely go back again.

Annexe,(220 Corporation Str., Birmingham): Interesting, American style ambiance and music. Nice, well presented food, helpful and courteous staff. Good choice of wines and beers, recommended!

Visited annexe on a Thursday night. Our meal was very good, plenty of choice on the menu and in a restaurant that has a good atmosphere and is comfortable. The service was generally good and friendly. All in all a postive experience and good value meal.

An excellent find that you might not know is even there - excellent service, food and ambience.

I booked this meal with a friend and it was a most enjoyable experience. The food was excellent with good sized portions and the ambiance was friendly and relaxing. The staff struck the right balance between friendliness and efficiency and at no time did we feel rushed. I would have liked just a little more light, but I will definitely be visiting the Annex in Birmingham again in future.

On arrival to leaving we had a great experience. We were met with a warm welcome from staff and the owner which was a good start to the evening. The restaraunt wasn't full but the atmosphere was still good, with good music and the Some Like It Hot film playing on the wall above the kitchen. Can't wait to go back to try more of the menu.

Lovely decor. Bit slow to bring menus. Great starters and main steak was good. Last porion left of the fish of day was Mullet and not a good piece at all but they immediately said they would take half the cost off the dish. It came with a lovely risotto though. If I was a local, I'd certainly go again

My first visit was a business meal on a very quiet Monday night, and I was so impressed by the food and ambience that I took my wife there for Valentine's Day - not bad, given that we live almost 150 miles away! The food was well up to expectations, the service attentive but not intrusive, but we were particularly impressed with how well they managed a fully-booked restaurant: it didn't feel cramped, the food came as quickly as you'd want it, and I'm sure everyone enjoyed a special evening.

We hadn't been to the Annexe since the opening night & were pleased to see it has only improved. I opted for the scallops starter, hubby had the Lamb filo parcels, we both went for the rib-eye steak & we shared the Berry assiette for dessert. Everything was gorgeous...salads perfectly dressed, vegetables beautifully seasoned, proper blue rare steaks. Damien & his partners have done a wonderful job revamping the place & there is a lovely retro feel to the décor. We'll be back soon! Recommended!

- good food - great service, fast and attentive - been here twice, once for dinner another for lunch, food was great during both times.

Lovely meal - nice atmosphere, high quality food and reasonably priced. Very impressed!

The meal in Annexe, Birmingham was amazing. Third time I've been there and will continue to come back, I reccomend the the Cote de Boeuf

Annexe-Birmingham was jut lovely. We had not eaten here before were strongly recommended through trip advisor. The service was great-quick, polite and non intrusive. We booked for 7pm-it was a little quiet upon arrival (it was a friday night) but the restaurant filled up around 8pm. Atmosphere was chilled, relaxed, and a black and white movie was played via projector-no sound-just nice. The music was relaxing and the food great-chicken a bit overdone but otherwise fab. £55 for 2 courses for 2.

A lovely cosy restaurant away from the loudness of Birmingham!

Annexe. Birmingham. Lovely caring staff. Well constructed food at a very reasonable price. Deserves its No.1 rating in Birmingham. Would definitely go there again.

Went with a colleague midweek, the welcome was very warm, the menu excellent and the service very good. I would definitely go back.

I've never received such a warm welcome to a restaurant. Food was amazing, lovely ambience, friendly staff. Can't wait to go again.

Review for Annexe Restaurant, Birmingham:

I went for a meal with my girlfriend after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor and we both thought the food was excellent. Service was very good and friendly.

We went on a Saturday night in early Jan and it wasn't too busy - surprising given the quality of the food. My only criticism would be that the restauarant was pretty cold - a guy on the table next to us had his coat on for the duration of the meal...not great.

Anyway, highly recommended!

I really enjoyed my visit to Annexe. Whilst there may not be the biggest selection of food on the menu, the food there is was was incredible. I had pasta for main, that was beautifully cooked and The Earl Grey Creme Brulee (my highlight) was fabulous, whilst the chocolate torte was also divine. Due to driving I was unable to try the wine menu. The ambience was relaxing, the room dressing well thought out, and the host very welcoming. I hope to go back in the near future and would recommend.

Annexe in Birmingham is a cool venue at the far end of Corporation Street. Attentive but discreet service and fabulous food. What more can you ask? The onion tarte tatin is brilliant.

I was here for a 40th birthday celebration and thought the decor was very french and welcoming. The food was good but did come out slowly and even cool for some dishes. The service was average but there was some entertainment on which may have been the reason why there was a slow repsonse.

Generally the restaurant was nice and the food good but maybe if they concentrated on all of the customers a little more then they would have a better experience.

Visited Annexe in Birmingham on Saturday 12th November 2011. Don't be put off by the modest exterior; the staff were incredibly attentive, service was great and food very good and reasonably priced. Well worth a visit. I will definitely return.

Third visit now. Have not stepped outside the prix fixe lunch menu, which is good value for a working lunch at £11.50 2 course. Friendly service, and in an appealing environment

We had a brilliant evening. The food was good service excellent and the owner was very friendly. If you want a good night out this is the place.

Hugely enjoyable, excellent service, an interesting menu, and lovely atmosphere.

Outstanding surroundings and ambience, together with a friendly and efficient service made this a very pleasant evening. Some dishes were excellent value and others seemed a little expensive for what was served. All was well prepared and attractively presented.

New menu is self assured with good variety and presented with confidence and attentive service. a cut above others in the area.

Great food and welcoming service.

A good experience which we will repeat- again. We have had three prix fixe lunches between the two of us - in the space of a week. The environment and service are delightful. We have had really good game pate and soup, good smoked salmon and fish-cakes. (No desserts tried). Excellent coffee. One surprise disappointment. Boeuf burguignon was curiously bland and based on sliced (as in a roast) beef. As said though, we love it and will be back, despite the one disappointment.

Really nice place. Nice atmosphere and lovely food at a very good price.

Behind the deceptively ordinary cafe facade, the Annexe was a real restaurant...not part of a chain, not expense account luxe, but that rare find, a place to enjoy a warm ambiance and proper cooking. And the service was exceptional!

Like many other reviewers, we chose and enjoyed a cote de boeuf, but guilty of neglecting monk fish roasted in prosciutto, and scallops served on Thai crab cakes (I shall have to revisit very soon). The interesting selection of sides emphasised a good kitchen.

Booked for a party of 9 and found at 1945 we were the only ones there. Despite this it took a while for orders to be taken and drinks and food to arrive. Food was good but starter antipasti was quite small. Most enjoyed the food and the atmosphere improved as more diners joined.
