chung ying garden,Birmingham.we went on a friday night,it wasnt too busy. The menu has a great choice and very reasonable price.staff were pleasent and service good.Main courses are good portion size.Enjoyed very much.

very busy due to 1st night of chinese new year, good value, staff very friendly, recommend

Arrived 15mins earlier and restaurant manager was very accommodating.

Very efficient service. Ordered dim sum which we didn't have to wait too long for.

All bamboo streamer dishes cooked well and tasted nice. Fried noodles with duck wasn't as good, very fatty pork char siu and duck.

A party of us went to Ching Ying Gardens in Birmingham for dinner. We were very impressed with the food, it was delicious and there was lots of it! Thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Much friendlier staff and better service now. Haven't been for a while, the interior is still drab hotel style though.

service attentive though food disappointing. was seated near the corner of the restaurant and smelt like urine.

very accommodating

Excellent food, huge choice, but the service was terrible! An hour after we had arrived on time for our booking we still had not been asked what drinks we would like or ordered our food! The restaurant was VERY busy

Chung Ying Garden, Birmingham. I ordered king prawn with straw mushrooms, & asked for no onions (as I can't digest if not cooked well), but the dish came with only prawns and mushrooms and no other vegetables. Maybe this is how it was meant to be & I should have ordered a side dish. Saying that, it was very tasty, and the egg fried rice was perfect. Also had jasmine tea included in the price. Service fast but not especially friendly. Saw Chinese at the next table with a different menu??

Having tried the sister restaurant on several occasions (Chung Ying Cantonese Restaurant), we decided to give Chung Ying Garden a go. The selected starter for the table....shredded aromatic duck with pancakes.....was a tad better at the other place. Main courses, however, (especially the beef with pepper sauce.....very lean and tasty meat!) was lovely. Service could have been quicker. We were heading to the ballet (6 pm sitting with the performance starting at 7:30) ...and needing to rush.

Chung Ying Garden, Birmingham offers the largest number of choices of any restaurant we have ever visited. We were pressed for time and ordered some old favourites: wun tun soup, beef with ginger and spring onion, pork with bamboo shoots and chinese mushrooms, yung chow rice and soft fried noodles with beansprouts. All were very good indeed, the portions generous and the service friendly, hospitable and reasonably quick. Not cheap but we'll certainly be back.

My husband and I visited Chung Ying Garden, in Birmingham, for our valentines/my birthday meal. The atmosphere was very romantic but more importantly the food was great! It was a set menu however being non-beef eaters we were able to substitute all the beef dishes for a different dish. Although we chose the most expensive menu, there was a set menu to suit every buget. The service was quick with no fuss and no waiting around. We had a lovely time and will be visiting this restaurant again.

Visited on a Saturday night. The place was packed but the service was fast and the food excellent. Not the cheapest of restaurants but the extra is probably worth it. Been a few tiomes before and definitely will again.

I visited Chung Ying Garden in Birmingham last Friday night and I loved loved loved my food, my partner was not so keen. I had for my main sizzling aubergine with tofu in black bean sauce with noodles and beansprouts and it was heavenly! Highly recommend it ... Restaurent not so swish but the food made up for that.

Despite arriving in middle of early evening rush, service and food was as good as usual

Love the food at this place. You can go to is sister restaurant across the road, Chung Ying for a bit more of a crazy atmosphere but nice ambience and buzz in this restaurant and the service is good. Amazing selection of food

Great dim sum as always. Could come here every week. Great for vegetarians and food comes out pretty quick. Salt and pepper bean curd with cashew nuts is a must.

Very authentic. Packed with Chinese diners - always a good sign! Dimsum excellent. Good (if not slightly surly) service. Buzzy atmosphere. Will definately return!

We had an enjoyable evening at Chung Ying Gardens in Birmingham. The food was fresh and enjoyable, the service very attentive, polite and efficient and the cost was reasonable.

We went to the Chung Ying Garden in Birmingham as part of my son's 18th birthday celebrations. Very enjoyable meal, including the steamed sea bass which was excellent

The dim sum at this restaurant is excellent. Amazing choice for vegetarians and even better for you meat eaters. A family favourite and good value too. You can get filled on dim sum at £2.50 - 3.50 per dish and you don't even need main courses.

Well worth a visit

excellent food - good service. Best place in B'ham to have a chinese meal in the evening. Tofu dishes of particular note. Also superb value - table of 5 around £60. Only slight quibble - sitting underneath the ac unit - bit chilly!

Friendly service, good wine list and fantastic food. We really struggled to narrow down our selection from the huge (over 400 dishes!) menu. Some unusual options too, we went for sizzling ostrich fillet in black pepper sauce, scrumptious. It's also reasonably priced too. Definitely recommend this to friends, and will go again.

Chung Ying Garden, Birmingham.

another excellent meal.

I absolutely love this place.. lovely food, and friendly service

Great meal as usual, servive good. Always go to this chinese when in Birmingham

Lovely dim sum which was very good value followed by a great main. Place was very busy for a tuesday evening and the number of chinese clientele probably speaks for itself. Service was by no means rude, but wasn't what I'd call 'friendly'.

We had a full banquet meal. The dim sum was very greasy. The rest of the meal was nice but not anything special. Lacked ambience. Really amazing wine, though expensive (£38 bottle).

Gorgeous food and fantastic service - what more could you want?

Traditional Chinese Restaurant, rather dark decor so couldn't really appreciate the beautiful sunny day from inside. Huge choice, had Peking Duck + Chef Speciality, Squid stuffed with minced prawns. Both very good, above average we thought. We also choose a Canton Beef dish which I probably would not order again but all down to personal taste. Our waiter was good, very pleasant, speedy service . Excellent choice for pre-theatre meal as Birmingham Hippodrome minutes walk away.

It's some time since I've been to Chung Ying Garden, but the variety and quality of food has not diminished. The fact that it's still used by the local Chinese community bears witness to its continuing popularity. I look forward to my next visit.

This was my worst ever chinese dinner in birmingham china town. Food was tasteless. Service was surly whenever it existed.

I booked a table at the Chung Ying Garden; Birmingham based upon the feedback on the Tabletop Website. Our first impression was the friendly greeting by the efficient staff and the traditional decor. The food was excellent, I would recommend the Sweet and Sour Pork, defiantly good value for money and we shall visit again!

Amazing food in a nice ambience. I have been there twice so far and can recommend the high quality food. Saw many people of Chinese origin on both occasions which I believe is a sign of its authenticity. Has an extensive veggie menu. Certainly don't expect 'service with a smile' - the waiters in general have an air of arrogance bordering on cockiness and certainly no politeness; could just be a cultural thing. I can strongly recommend this restaurant to all.

Went for a meal on Saturday night at Chung Ying Garden in Thorp Street Birmingham (17 Jan) with the family - food was excellent as usual, service quick but not too quick, and although it was a bit early (7.30pm), the place was buzzing - loads of different people, from couples to families.

I thoroughly recommend the place, whether its for a night out with the family or for a dinner for 2, the food is fab!!!

We enjoyed a wonderful delicious lunch and the service was excellent.

I booked a table for 16 people and although the service was a little slow to start with, I couldn't fault it for the rest of the evening. We didn't have duck on our set menu but after a quick chat with one of the waiters they sorted some out for us. A great evening was had by all, topped off with Karaoke afterwards! And thanks for the "lovely" Hawaiian shirt which I won...=)

I treated my 2 daughters to a meal at the Chung Ying Garden Birmingham before a trip to the theatre. We booked a table for 6.00 with the show starting at 7.30 so we were on a tight schedule. The service was really good and our food arrived really quickly giving us plenty of time to enjoy our meal. The food was excellent but I have had cheaper Chinese meals that were as good. I would however go again just not very often!!!

I booked a table for my boss and his senior management team who are notoriously fussy customers, but this is the 2nd time they've visited and again they were very happy with the service. In fact I've had to book again for their next meeting in December so I can't give any better endorsement than that!

4 people - chose the set menu for 5 people - £80. The food was excellent. and service attentive, and 2 bottles of sancerre later - we were virtually the only people left in the restaurant... The crispy duck was perfect - no fat or gristle, the dim sum was varied and tasty including a large portion of deep fried squid - which i don't like - or at least didnt like before this meal at this restuarant. . The 5 mains were delicious - but I didn't like the fish dish, next time would ask for a change

Great place for big groups as they give you massive round tables, we ordered one of the set meals and even when one of our party was late they were happy to bring him his portion of his starter when he arrived. We polished off the main courses pretty quick and they were hapy to give us extra portions of the dishes we liked best at no extra charge. Highly recommended!!

Chung Ying Garden Birmingham is an excellent restaurant for a pre-theatre meal. Service is always very quick at 6.00 p.m. and the food is good. Lacks a bit of atmosphere but would go again for a quick meal but not to spend a whole evening.

We are regulars at Chung Ying Gardens and yet again it did not disappoint. Food and service great. No doubt we will be back when in Birmingham again!

We went for dimsum and lets just say Chung Ying has the best dimsum in birmingham. The Siew Yuk was very nice as with all the other dimusm dishes we had. I would highly recommend anyone who wants to enjoy Dimsum in the Birmingham area to go to Chung Ying.

This is probably the best Chinese Restaurant that I have been in - the selection of Dim Sums is like an encyclopedia - if you get Simon as your waiter you'll have an entertaining night - you will have a challenge just choosing your meal - I wouldn't bother with the Chicken's Feet though!
