Lovely service at City Cafe and such a shame it wasn't busier. Fish soup starter needs a bit of work but goats cheese crumpet was delicious. Both of us had the beef pie and mash which was FANTASTIC! Overall brilliant value for £10.95 for two courses but just lacking in atmosphere! Worth a visit for a tasty lunch!

My husband and myself went to the City Cafe for dinner last night. The food was above average but the menu wasn't particularly exciting. Service however was immaculate. Overall, we had a lovely evening.
friendly, polite and very efficient service.
opted for the market menu. mushroom soup was superb, great flavour and texture. chicken main was beautifully cooked and tasted delicious.
fish and chips tasted nice.
place was pretty much empty but great ambience.
afternoon tea at the skylounge in leeds. we had pre booked aft tea so felt confused when they brought us menus. i asked for a tea on the menu but they didnt have it - just regular and earl grey. so why put it on the menu then?
Aft tea -was ok - on plates and not cake stand. sandwiches ok - cakes and scones good. tea ok. overall ok but nothing to get excited about - mainly went there for the location in the sun.
City Inn; Leeds What a fabulous setting, the restaurant on the ground floor giving first class fine dining with sublime food and quality wines. The top floor has the stylish cocktail bar with views over Leeds. We had the 3 courses and bottle of wine for £30 for us both. I would have easily paid that each! The chef's concoctions for main courses were heavenly. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
City Cafe (main restaurant) Leeds.
What a wonderful find. We had a early dinner and was the only couple in there for a while, the waiters were very attentive without being pushy and left it up to us for when we wanted our dessert, which was great. We opted for the £30 offer, the food was very nice and portions was enough without feeling stuffed just nicely sated. Overall a really nice vibe in the restaurant and will certainly be going back again soon.
Sunday Lunch at City Cafe Leeds.
Excellent value for money, the food was delicious, even the bottle of wine included in the deal was of a reasonable quality. At £30.00 for 3 courses incl. wine you cant go wrong.
Had a great lunch today at City Cafe, the portions size and quality of the food was great, and very attentive and polite service throughout the whole meal. The restaurant was fairly empty, but it has a nice feel amd we didn't feel uncomfortable at all. The bottle of red was very nice too, and for £30 + service, it was fantastic value - we will be back very soon!
I booked a table at the City cafe in leeds for 7.30pm on a saturday evening. Although very quite in the restaurant we were given a great table overlooking the canal & barges moored. Althought the menu was limited we were all able to pick something that appealed. The food was great..(although my meal was a little salty)..the wine was great,,the staff were really attentive & knowledgeable..overall a great dining experience at a great price, i will definately be going again! thanks
Service not so hot but food delicious, small portions so 3 courses just enought.
Super evening again. Food was lush & the deal was a total winner. Christophe our waiter was an absolute star. The hotel is fortunate to have staff like him. Thanks TT
City Inn Leeds, fantastic offer - even managed to have 3 of us and make the deal worth while. Small selection but v nice food, portion size ok for females, males may want to order a side dish. but £30 per couple excellent value in lovely surroundings.
This was excellent value for money and the restaurant had a nice ambiance with excellent service.
Great choice of starters and deserts from the buffet, main course was also superb, just let down slightly by the service which should have been better and more attentive considering we were the only customers in the restaurant however this would not put me off dining again as the food is always superb.
The offer for 3 courses and a bottle of wine for £30 was fabulous and we would highly recommend. One waiter who was particular helpful regarding wines was the friendliest person and provided fantastic service. Great meal out and will be going again soonest!!!
We went to the City Café on a Friday night, surprised to find it very quiet. We were told that it does get a lot busier but January was always slow. We booked the 3 courses and a bottle of wine deal which was superb value. Dishes were simple but delicious, with fresh ingredients used. Staff were friendly as well.
City Inn restaurant within MINT hotel was gorgeous - interesting menu choices, fabulous food and excellent service. Would highly recommend. Only disappointment was that my choice of wine from the list wasn't available.
City Cafe @ Mint Hotel, Leeds.
Great value for excellent food, service was fantastic too, nothing too much trouble and no rush to get you out of the restaurant. Would definately visit again!
Great value for the 2 for £30. Will be returning. Could have done with ordering side dish but for that price ......
We really enjoyed this mean - the restaurant is beautifully located on the banks of the canal and had a vibrant atmosphere. The food was excellent and the service efficient and friendly. Excellent deal with no hidden costs and I'd deinitely return.
An amazing experience. The food was brilliant
Booked for a group of 8 on a Saturday night. 3 courses and bottle of wine offer a great one. Broth to start, chicken for main and then pineapple tart for dessert. All reasonable portion sizes given the price being paid. Bread & butter also provided which was good. No complaints!!
City Cafe, Leeds, party of 4 Took advantage of 3 course meal for two, including bottle of house wine and coffee for £30. Couldn't fault quality of the food, apart from perhaps main courses a little small for some of our party. House wine excellent, service flawless as always. We always visit here with friends and family for a "safe bet".
sat outside by the canal on a lovely warm evening. service was good. market value menu was limited - the food wasn't amazing but they had at least attempted some interesting ideas. The location of the cafe is lovely - especially out on the terrace when it is warm. the food was ok, service good. i havent tried the a la carte menu so not able to comment its best dishes.
Mint Hotel - Leeds Exceptional value menu £30 for 2 with bottle wine -good service and food.
Excellent venue, service, food and value for money at the City Cafe in Leeds!! Would recommend to anyone.
Visited the City Inn, Leeds for a birthday dinner. Nice place, good food, reasonably priced wines but unreliable service.
City Cafe, Leeds. Food was really really good but overall it lacked ambience. Very quiet and needs a bit of the atmosphere that the bar has upstairs. Loved the food but would hesitate to go back for this reason.
Terribly dissapointing. A 40th Birthday treat with friends ruined by tardy service from the under-worked kitchen. Whilst the food itself was delicious, the service was so slow we were all desperate to leave by the time we forced the bill out of them. The problem is lack of custom leading to slackness by the chefs. A dreadful shame as its a lovely venue and the kitchen staff are clearly talented, but bored to death and as a result have become lazy.
Arrived at the Mint Hotel in Leeds at the reception and was warmly welcomed - was offered the grannary lounge and sky lounge to eat in. The quality and portions of food were really good, however it may have been a bit pricey if the champagne had not been included.
City Cafe in Leeds. Wonderful experience. Will definitely go back. Everything was perfect.
Skylounge restaurant, City Inn, Leeds
Wonderful views of the City on one of the warmest evenings. Lovely food, good service. A lovely eating experience.
I wanted to try somewhere different, and this certainly was. The food was lovely, as was the service, not the place to go if you looking for a big meal or feeling hungry, but it really is a lovely place. relaxing atmosphere and very classy. abit more of a selection might be good but it doesnt stop it being an enjoyable experience. tho bit pricey the set menu was a bargain. will definately go again.
We went for afternoon tea and couldn't book on site, however toptable sorting it out when I called them. When we arrived they were most unhelpful and said that they had sold out of afternoon tea, and didn't offer anything in recompense. It was a hen do so we were all disappointed, decided to go up to the bar and have a drink anyway. When we gathered our spirits we went and complained and they said there was tea and they'd bring it straight away! Tea was lovely - but awful service.
The new owners of what was the City Inn Leeds have made a big mistake by moving the restaurant, formerly on the top floor with commanding views, down to the ground floor. God knows what possessed them but it's not a move that's worked. The restaurant is stylish and both food and service impressive, though overpriced for pretty small portions, but it was dead as a doornail on a Friday, yet neighbouring establishments were heaving. Something's not going right. I won't be rushing back.
City Cafe, City Inn Leeds
Really nice atmosphere and the 13th floor does give a good view of the City. The aftenoon tea was very good and so was the champagne.
Lovely venue for a special treat.
Went for afternoon tea to celebrate our wedding anniversary and although I enjoyed what we were given, there was a significant lack of it. We booked the deal which included Champagne, but I was have been extermely dissapointed if we had paid the £15 for afternoon tea without the champagne. We werent offered a choice of tea, and also since returning I have seen the normal menu and we werent given 2 scones each or 3 cakes, just 1 scone and 2 cakes, unfortunately I did not check the menu at time
We went to City Cafe, Leeds and ate in the Sky Lounge on the top floor. They were happy to change the booking from the cafe to sky lounge when I rang we had afternoon tea as a large group and were asked to pay in adavnce. The service was good, food was excellent. Only issue was they didnt bring tea until we had finished eating. A great offer for £15 with champagne!
group of 16 went for afternoon tea as part of a hen do. good value for money, surroundings nice. all presented on a nice traditional cake stand.
City Inn Leeds is in a great location by the canal. Service, food and drink are all excellent.
Very good location with view of river. Had the Sunday lunch and it was definitely value for money. The salmon was very nicely done. The fresh orange juice was actual freshly squeezed. Excellent service.
This place has a really varied menu...something to please everyone. Lots of fresh and local produce, especially on the frequently updated market menu. Staff were courteous and service was prompt. Toilets are very clean and welcoming...in fact they had just been cleaned and the toilet roll folded over! Only downside was that the restuarant was very quiet for a Friday night. Also tables are a little close together.
Lovely lunch, would definitely return.
I visited City Cafe in Leeds last Friday. I was surprised that it wasn't busier, because the food was lovely and the service was good too.
City Cafe, Leeds - really quiet for a Friday evening so could not fully judge teh ambience - but wonderful food and extremely attentive staff. Requested a river view and was not disappointed!
Pleasant meal, fish and chips didn't seem quite as good as usual. Perhaps a different chef? Service flawless as always. Mid week visit so full of single travellers, a better ambience to be found at weekends.
City Cafe, Mint Hotel, Leeds Lovely setting on the canal. Very enjoyable and we will definitely be returning.
We went to City Cafe in Leeds the night before New Year's Eve. The food was fantastic and incredibly reasonable (twenty something pounds for 3 courses). Whilst the decor is very lovely, the environment was sadly very very quiet - we were the only people in the restaurant for most of the evening.
We had Christmas dinner at the City Cafe, which is in the Mint Hotel (renamed from the City Inn recently). We'd read the good reviews and weren't mislead, the chef is clearly very talented with a good menu with interesting but not wildly exotic flavour combinations, excellent portion control and fresh local ingredients. Really worth a visit and a table with a view on the canal is a plus. Excellent value for money.
Excellent value for money, good choice of food and able to accomodate a fussy vegetarian child. Lovely restaurant and good service.
