The city cafe at the mint hotel in Westminster was friendly and food was good for most of us, however very limited for health conscious/ vegetarians. One of our party was left with just a potato when we were informed (late) that they had run out of ingredients...

At City Cafe Westminster, we were politely welcomed and asked if we had eaten there before, They explained the menus and offered help if we needed it. The day menu, which was cheaper, proved excellent value, although we had to give the order three times to a friendly waitress for whom English was clearly still a little difficult.
All the food was both well cooked and well presented, and the was a minimum of fuss.
All in all, a very positive experience.
City Cafe, London
Had a business lunch there yesterday, having been several times before. Excellent food and service, as well as quiet relaxing ambience in modern, well-decorated retaurant. But far more expensive for lunch than the last time I was there some months ago. It used to be the best value for money near Victoria, but no so sure now!

City Cafe (at the Mint Hotel), Westminster Nice ambience, very friendly and efficient staff. Had the rib-eye and it was in the top 10 of steaks I've had in my life. The bearnaise was perfect. It came with a protobello mushroom with a savory onion topping was also delicious. The handcut chips were undercooked and rather soggy. My dinner companion had the pork belly which was moist, crispy on the outside, and well seasoned, the veggie sides were also wonderful. Too full for desert!
City Cafe in the Mint Hotel Westminster is a relaxed venue for lunch or dinner - though food and service are certainly professional and serious. There are various good-value fixed price options and I have no hesitation in recommending. Shall certainly return.
Great value as ever, don't understand why its not packed out for Sunday lunch. A bit slow on refilling the starter buffet, main course better than last visit.
City cafe was a delight, good food, nice service and lovely ambience. Will def try again.
Comfortable food done competently and presented well. Nothing dramatic or particularly striking but perfect for an informal business lunch.
Manages to avoid the self-consciously fancy, and no stuffy atmosphere, which can be the case with Pimlico dining. The summer BBQ is tasty and something a bit different from the fare offered generally in the area.
Service could do with a bit more of a smile but varies between staff members.
All in all, good.
Rude front desk service. Amaterish and random. My risotto starter was good. My partner's starter a mess. My halibut overcooked - partner's rump steak mediocre and cold sauce. Nice wine though pricey. No one really cares here. Just one decent waiter apeared occasionally.
Great Mother's Day lunch, especially as the Prosecco promised turned out to be Champagne. Main course average but buffet starters and puddings great value by themselves
Once again, a good meal with excellent service.
Hi good service
Spacious, airy and chic decor; excellent food and service; the City Cafe restaurant is one of the best in Pimlico. Ideal for anybody frustrated at the lack of good retaurants close to Victoria station.
City Café London, excellent as ever.
The atmosphere was nice but the rib-eye steak was mediocre at best - small, thin, and not very flavorful. The service was nice and attentive, but it might have been because it was extremely slow (about 3 other tables). If the food was better this place would be fantastic, but sadly I cannot recommend.
City Café, London. Very pleasant food, relaxed service, good wine list.
We came back again for Sunday lunch and noted that they changed the format ( due to the change of hands in the ownership of the hotel, we wondered ). It is still a good value, albeit buffet choises have been decreased, and a decent, clean and civilised environment. There was a communication error among the staff such as delivering a wrong main meal and late arrival of drinks but other than that we don't know why it is not full, considering the value of the whole package.
Very very pleased with City Cafe, London. We ate on a Saturday Lunchtime and were the only guests! The atmosphere was therefore very peaceful. Beautifully decorated, excellent service, excellent value set lunch menu, excellent food. Would thoroughly recommend
Ambiance lovely for the last night of term for three tired teachers. Quite service. Very attentive, except when we wanted to pay. The set meal was excellent.
City Cafe, Westminster, London
Excellent lunch. Calm and elegant atmosphere. Gentle yet attentive service - and the food was superb. Took my partner there for his birthday on 23 December and the restaurant was thankfully tinsel free.
Dined at City Cafe, London - we had a concert to go to and not much time but they served us promptly and the waiters were extremely efficient. We had the beetroot and goats cheese as a starter which was delicious. The seabass with crusted crumb was good but the crumb wasn't crusted! Would definitely return.
Very impressed with this venue for our team Christmas lunch. The staff were attentive and helpful, the christmas menu was a very reasonable £26 for 3 course + coffee and the wine list was full of affordable wines. The meal was very good indeed and the restaurant ambience, whilst quiet, didn't have that clinical hotel feel which | was slightly concerned about when booking initially. Definitely recommended.
Excellent evening at City Cafe' in London. We were a bit in a hurrry and they managed to serve our meals quickly as we asked. Perfect food and lilvely atmosphere.
Excellent food & very attentive service.
Four of us had lunch at the City Café, City Inn Hotel, London. Nice food, lots of choice on the menus (you can mix and match). Nice friendly staff. The service was a little on the slow side despite the place only being about 1/3 full. Would definitely recommend it though.
City Cafe Millbank London. Highly recommended. Food excellent and the two set menus offer exceptional value. The dishes were clever (mini fish pie in a tall glass accompanied by a slice of pink trout) and not too large. Good choice of wines by the glass. Airy setting with good acoustics make it ideal for meetings. Friendly service. Will definitely return.
City Cafe's Sunday lunch is great value. Good surroundings, nice choices in the buffet appetisers and especially the puddings. Personally, I prefered it when the main course was the cavery but still good.
Good food, unfortunately not exactly by the Thames as advertised
The waitress got our order wrong twice and she was not very tactful with our guest. Food is good, pleasant ambience to sit and relax.
Good food with the 22 for 3 courses promo. Service was polite, dining room is quiet and intimate.
Ate in the city cafe westminster on the 12/8/2010 have to say one of the best resturants i've eaten in for a long time staff are friendly and very helpful food is amazing cant fault it on any point comfortable surroundings and really nice lighting.
A nice evening, sitting on the terrace. The food is quite modern and nouvelle in the sense that portions are relatively spartan. Having said that, it's not overpriced considering the area. For £50 per head we had 3 course, wine and an apertiif so quite satisfactory. Would go there again and am considering sunday buffet as looks like it might be kid friendly.
One thing to be aware, Sunday lunchtimes you have to have the buffet - the cost is £19.95 which is quite good value. However, I was expecting two courses for £9.95 so a fair bit more. Good value if you are the type of person who prefers quantity over quality. Food was good, service polite. Would go again.
As their Sunday lunch was such an excellent value for money and we were very impressed by the desserts and pastries, we came back to City Cafe for afternoon tea. A pity they seemed to be severely under-staffed but the quality of cakes are up to scratch and we liked they served tea with proper loose tea leaves. What a shame that they serve afternoon tea in a casual one-plate serving in a casual bar setting ...
We had lunch yesterday at the City Cafe, 30 John Islip St, London and were really pleased we chose this restaurant via toptable. I was looking for a restaurant to meet our friends from overseas and we had such a good time there I would recommend it highly We chose the lunch menu and there was a good choice andit was very good value for money.
We went to City Cafe for Sunday lunch. The main roasts were both over-cooked but this was compensated by the wonderful array of desserts followed by a selection of cheese included in the buffet! Wish the portions of desseerts were smaller so that we could go through them all! Get the roasts right and this could be a very pleasant way to spend Sunday afternoon.
Had a lovely 3 course meal for £23 at the City Cafe, London (Pre theatre )off the a la carte menu. Presentation was excellent and restaurant layed out well. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were served on time but did not feel rushed and left in time to make the theatre. Also aranged cab to take us there.
Very friendly and accommodating service, I would definitely come for another meal.
Hotel restaurant serving good food with clueless service.
Good place for lunch.
Great Dcor, Visited on Mothers Day, very busy.. great service, meat so raw nearly got up and ran off the plate....
Sunday evening meal pleasant food with occasional excellent tastes in City Cafe near Westminster. Inside City Hotel, minimal 70's modern decor. Put in a poorly lit spot (as requested by window) asked to be moved but gave us a tiny oil lamp instead! Not allowed to sit in empty hotel lounge next to cafe with coffee, had to make do with jumbled bar area, not very comfortable. Overcharged on bill, every item costed seperately instead of £22.95 for 3 courses. Enjoyed evening but could be improved
City Cafe in London is very good venue for a quiet business lunch. Light and airy, with unobtrusive service and an excellent menu. Very good value in an area with not a lot of competition. I highly recommend the steak and frites.
As usual, a relaxing and competent hotel restaurant with good food, pleasant service, an oasis in the Westminster desert.. Loo temporarily closed so a trek.
City Cafe - Westminster, London was a great experience from start to finish. Staff greeted us nicely, atmosphere was relaxed but most importantly the food was amazing. We had booked an early table and expected to be asked to vacate by a certain time for next seating but we arrived 5:30pm and didn't leave until 10:00pm! No question about it, we will definately go back.
