The Cucina at the Hotel Missoni enjoys a very central location in Edinburgh. The dishes, especially the 2-course menu, are reasonably priced though the quality is rather average. The biggest letdown is the ambience. In spite of (or possibly because of) its affiliation with the Missoni brand, we were surprised to see that the only other customers were quiet groups of older ladies. All in all, good value for money but could definitely use a bit of funk.

As a family of 6, celebrating my father's 70th birthday, we had a very pleasant experience. All the staff were superb, from the moment we we greeted at the steps of the hotel by a charming young man in a Missoni kilt(!), to the Maitre d, the waiter and manageress. We had the Top Table lunch offer of £14.95/head which was very good value for such quality food. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their choices, we will definitely return. Thank you for making my Dad's birthday.
Nice meal, accommodating when we were a bit late (Cucina)
Booked for 7pm and arrived at 3 minutes past, told initially it was too late for the Early Dinner menu, though this decision was reversed. Very nice meal and service. No petit fours despite this being on the booking and us asking.
The lunch at Cucina inside the Missoni hotel was excellent. Every little item, from tablecloth to napkins, are signed by Missoni and bear their trademark striped pattern (even the guy at the entrance wears a striped Missoni-style kilt). Service was friendly and easy-going, not at all arrorant or uptight. Whereas a carrot soup was rather ordinary, the fennel salad was an outstanding match of fresh ingredients. The mains - chicken breast and grilled salmon - were perfectly executed.
Absolutely delicious. Fabulous venue.
Brilliant food and service. Recommended
La Cucina, Hotel Missoni, Edinburgh offers an excellent value two course lunch. There is good variety and the food is always presented well. Service is very attentive and although drinks increase the final bill considerably, it is still a very worthwhile experience.
another great meal at Cucina.
A very nice place to dine. Staff were so attentive it was a pleasure.
2nd visit of the beautiful restaurant, this time with a guest who has been in many Michelin star restaurants all over the world. He loved it! For us it was again an absolut perfect experience, food, wine...but the best really is the brilliant team making you feel wonderful. Thanks you! Dr. Martin J Hopf
My first visit to Cucina was certainly no disappointment! Our request for table location was catered for with the food selection well explained by knowledgeable waiting staff. The food was excellent as was the venue, but would advise you have to be ready to enjoy the artistic decor and lively atmosphere that the restaurant creates. It all added to our experince though as did the advice from the sommilier. All in all a very special and what felt like individual meal! Would certainly recommend.
Friendly staff, good food, selection could have been bigger but everything was excellent
We had a really good meal at Cucina, Hotel Missoni, Edinburgh. Great vaue for money and lovely food.
Cucina, located in Hotel Missoni is only a stone's throw from the Royal Mile, but despite hoards of tourists 200 metres away, the place was virtually empty. Dissapointing carrot soup to start followed by a reasonable but undemanding Italian sausage amd mash combo. Attentive service lifted the experience.
Visited on Mother's day and was disappointed. Think the staff couldn't handle the volume of covers. That said, food was well presented, catered with kids menu BUT main courses were cold. We also waited for ages between courses and were in almost two hours for a three course lunch. We complained and could not have got a more personalised and apologetic reaction, Excellent recovery but dissapointed overall as the food looked and probably was delicious - warm. Excellent decor.
We had an excellent meal at Cucina. Delicious food, perfect service and very good value on the pre-theatre menu. There were 5 of us in our party and we will all dine there again at earliest opportunity.
fantastic surroundings and staff very attentive. Great value offer and the food was delicious. Excellent
Cucina Hotel Missoni Edinburgh Only problem is they gave us the wrong menu to start with! I was almost decided before they came with the menu for the top table offer therefore disapointed.
Took advantage of the 'early evening' offer at the Hotel Missoni in Edinburgh's George IV Bridge, and not disappointed. Food and service was top drawer. Staff knowledgeable, approachable and could not do enough for you but still managed to avoid being overbearing.
We visited Cucina based in the Missoni Hotel in Edinburgh. The whole experience from the moment we arrived was excellent. The waiters were most attentive and gave us an excellent overview of the menu. Food was really nice and there was a good choice.
Would really recommend a visit.
I had heard good things about Cucina in Edinburgh and our meal did not disappoint. Situated in the sophisticated surrounds of trendy Hotel Missoni the restaurant is stylishly designed and comfortably lit. The food was exquisite and the service impeccable, professional, attentive and friendly. We chose from the pre-theatre menu which, whilst smaller than the a la carte menu still had diverse choice through a range of dishes. I definitely Cucina for the food, the service and the style.
It was nice environment, very few people when we went. The food was pretty good and reasonable for its value.
As always Cucina never fails. The food was delicious, staff attentive and well informed and the complimentary bread is always a treat. Decor still fabulous.
Excellent ambience and attentive staff without being too intrusive. Waiter was very informative and helpful. Presentation of food was of a very high standard and excellent quality. Would highly recommend to others.
Great lunch at the Missoni. I requested a round table near the window and that's exactly what I got.! Great service and we were left to enjoy our wine at the end without being forced out. The best Italian food I have had in Edinburgh.
Ate at Cucina at the Hotel Missoni last night. Good food and well presented, what you would expect for approx £26 for mains dish and £5 for veg/potatoes. Staff were professional and friendly with good attention to detail. Table was excellent - round one with plenty of space (suggest you specify round table if booking).
Drinks are expensive as is the wine - £50+ for anything decent.
Would recommentd it with the caveat there are better value places around
Missoni edinburgh. I booked through Toptable a pre theatre meal with some really nice extra touches and price to match. Dissapointingly we were told that Missoni had stopped the offer (which we had definately booked) which made us feel embarrassed. I think its really inportant that Toptable and Restaurants know what the agreement is between them so that customers are not put in a difficult place. Missoni honoured what we booked which was appreciated but it left a taste behind!
Had a lovely night at Cucina, Edinburgh even though we had to remind servers at various points of our visit that we had booked, via Toptable, the pre theatre offer and had therefore been promised various perks! The deal was excellent value for money though.
Missoni, Edinburgh was a wonderful experience! We always loved the interior design of the bar, but the restaurant is even better! Food is superb, mouthwatering presented, tast was brilliant, lovely wine, the service is attentive, just this perfect balance that makes you enjoying your stay and feeling VIP without ever being disturbed. Could'nt be any better! Both sommeliers have given us a much appreciated inside of their knowledge. 3course+wine=£60! Great value for money. We'll do it again.
Hotel Missoni Edinburgh excellent meal very well presented staff knowledgable and helpful will definately go again
Stylish, good food, excellent service. Good value lunch deal.
Lovely chilled out place with perfectly delicious Italian food. Service was just right and portions were a good balance of taste and quantity.
We had a lovely lunch experience at Cucina at Hotel Missoni in Edinburgh on Saturday. The service was superb, the food excellent and very good value. Will definitely return.
We had the Afternoon tea at the bar. Quite small and crowded, and the first thing you see as you get into the hotel, so I'm not sure if I could relax completely but the Misonni decoration was fun. Afternoon Tea was yummy with the Italian style savoury nibbles and cakes. Could do with more tea selection rather than using the common brands. Waitresses was polite but service was generally a bit slow too and seemed disorganised - may be because it was beside the bar.
Great atmosphere Pleasant and attentive (at times overly so!) service Friendly and professional service Food was good Value on the special offer Great location Little to fault - just the slightly fussy service at times
What a greta place for a Sunday lunch! Quiet to start with, but the crowd made it eventually. Excellent service (don't bother having a drink in the bar downstairs; the service there is woeful) and the food was really good - fresh and interesting. I felt the wine list was too expensive and did not cater for a decent well priced bottle.
All in all, a good experience.
nice atomsphere - good main course. Good value for money, nice service
Great choice although the drinks can be quite pricey.
good service and ambience. Food could be better butr overall a good night out
We have had lunch and dinner at the Hotel Missoni, Edinburgh three times now and the food always been first class. Waiters are attentive and knowledgeable but never overbearing. Two or three course lunch is excellent value and the dishes have are prepared and served with attention to detail which you'd expect of this stylish venue.
As a group we ate at Cucina and found the food to be enjoyable. The food is plentyful and good value for money.
Cucina at the Hotel Missoni, Edinburgh is decorated in a modern style. The staff were all very pleasant and welcoming - full marks there. The young woman who advised us on the wines really knew her stuff and the wine we subsequently chose was excellent. Starters and mains were of a very high standard, however the desserts were rather uninspiring although adequate. Overall, though, we had a very nice evening and will return.
We've eaten here before and enjoyed the lunch. However, second time around the dinner was disappointing. Clearly the chef is not consistent. Oh, and don't order a "chocolate box" desert because you'll get 4 ice creams of which only one is actually chocolate. Although the staff as pretty friendly and helpful, they kept coming back to our table to ask if "everything was alright". Now, it is a good thing to do, but by one person at most 2 times. We were asked by 4 different people around 8 times!
we ate at Cucina Hotel Missoni, 1 George IV Bridge, Edinburgh, last night, suoerb food very high quality, and service was fantastic, no complaints and we will be back.
I was pleasantly surprised when I entered the restaurant. The decor was very cosmopolitan with lovely crockery and cutlery on display. The staff were very well mannered and efficient and made you feel right at home. The decided dish was lovely and again surprised with the flavours etc. wine was excellent and all in all, the pricing was very reasonable. I definitely would dine at Cucina again if I return to Edinburgh!! Highly recommended...
Cucina (in Edinburgh's Missoni Hotel) is an excellent choice for lunch. Authentic regional Italian dishes, very well presented, with a very well-chosen list of Italian wines. Service was pleasant, but a little distracted (items forgotten, etc.), even though the restaurant was not busy.
Although the restaurant was busy (including a wedding party for lunch), the service was good. The food is excellent value and really good quality. the wine list can be expensive but there are a few well proced bottles which again are great quality.
Cucina, Edinburgh was delightful. We had a large group of 30 for lunch and it was excellent value with £17.95 for 3 courses. The mussles as starters were exceptional. Would recommend for the (MISSONI) style, value for money and ambience.
Cucina at hotel missoni. We had the set Chirstmas menu which was not bad although portions on the meagre side.Standard of food was high though and loved the basket of fresh bread assortment. Wine is expensive so watch out for that. Service was slow to start but picked up as the evening went on. Atmosphere very good and have the lighting correct. Would return.
