Opus Restaurant in Birmingham
Food is great but would be nice to have slightly larger portions

Good food and service. Not bad value for money.
Yes I did dine there and the menu was very good and excellent value
Opus Birmingham went on a friday lunchtime, had the prix fixe menu choice of only 2 dishes for each course, but the ones I had were good started with the warm oysters, which were excellent black bream was good my choice of cheesecake was disappointing the house red which included in the price of £24, without service, was very nice
Another great visit.
Absolutely stunning food, great value for the market menu we thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal including the wine and coffee. Staff were extremely attentive!!! Only grumble would be it was quite empty at 6.30 when we arrived and it was a bit off putting having 3 servers and the maitre de all watching your every move standing opposite your table. It was better once more tables had arrived around 7.30ish.
Market menu at 24.50 plus service charge is great value. Great food and excellent service. Will definitelt do aagain soon.
Excellent - really enjoyed the meal, the service and the quiet, relaxed ambiance of the place. We all (three of us) had different things and we were delighted with our choices on all three courses, even the inclusive glass of wine was a good one.
Opus, Birmingham. 8 of us on a Saturday night. During the week Opus can be a bit quiet but it was nicely busy without any reduction in the usual high level of service. The mains were a little bit longer coming than expected but food and wine were marvellous.
We had a Saturday night dinner at Opus in Birmingham. I had read mixed reviews regarding service. Restaurant was fairly quiet on arrival at 7pm, but got busier. Service was fairly slow paced, but that suited us perfectly and the young waiting staff were kept well organised by a senior maitre de. I had ham terrine, hake and orchard crumble. All the food was lovely, decent size portions (we added a side) and the glass of house red was perfectly fine. A pot of coffee finished it off perfectly.
My wife and I visited Opus Restaurant on a friday evening for the Market menu three course deal. The restaurant we thought was quite quiet, but the food and the value of the meal were excellent. The service was superb throughout which made for a wonderfully relaxed eveing in a much improved restaurant which deserves credit for its ethos and menu's. Well worth a visit.
3 rd visit in 2012 and everything was as to be expected, the market menu was super value and as always interesting, will return soon.
We chose from the seasonal set menu which was very good value for money, especially when compared to the main menu. For the set menu you only get a choice of two options for each course. However all of the choices looked really good and I still struggled to pick! I particularly enjoyed the rabbit and chicken starter which looked like something from Master Chef. The staff were very attentive and polite. I would definitely recommend it.
Lovely food at this restaurant and with the deal it's great value! Even the house wine was delicious. The only things that I would improve would be the lighting, it's way to bright in there and our waitress didn't really understand the questions we were asking and so was unable to help us. However other than that it was a lovely evening and the maitre d'e was excellent. Very helpful and friendly.
The restaurant was pretty quiet for a Friday evening. The service was excellent and the waiters were attentive. The food was above average but nothing to brag about.
Opus, Birmingham - classy
Visited Opus, Birmingham and had the Market Menu offer. 3 courses, glass of wine & coffee. Excellent food and very good value. Offer meant we dined early (6.30pm) so quiet at first but filled up later on. Lighting is a bit bright but that's the only quibble. I think this is one of the top 5 restaurants in Birmingham.
Very good service. Food of a very high standard. Atmosphere is relxed yet professional. Would definitely visit again.
Opus, Birmingham - one of the best places dined at to date. superb menu choice with food simply mouth watering. attention to detail from the chef to the waiters with excellent and friendly service
The market menu at Opus restaurant is very good value for money. Although the choice is limited to two dishes per course, our party of three had no difficulty in finding something we liked. For an early evening meal in central Birmingham, Opus would be very hard to beat.
Delicious food, great service and extensive wine list. We will be coming again.
Another good night at Opus had the prix fixe menu
Good food and food service!
We had the 3 courses for £24.95 with wine and coffee, what fantastic value. Food was superb, the deserts were some of the best I've ever had. Would not hesitate to recommend.
Enjoyed a meal at Opus on a Saturday evening. 3 courses, with wine and coffee for £24.50 is good value - tasty food, however only 2 choices (changed daily) for each course, which might prevent some visitors from choosing this option.
Excellent food, service and wine. Very good value too if you choose the market menu. Would gladly go again.
Excellent meal - very good value for money if you have the market menu (£25 for 3 courses + a glass of wine and cofefe). Superb service and food. Still one of the best places to eat in Birmingham.
We visited the Opus restaurant last night. The food was well presented and very good. Overall the staff seemed a little inexperienced but were courteous and willing. I would return.
very good value for money and even better value as all wine was 50% off.
A fine night out, food and wine were both superb. Only slight crticism was that the service, although very friendly, felt slightly disjointed.
Opus as ever a great restaurant - good food and service - you can never go wrong at Opus.
"Special offer" was just their menu at normal price: if we'd realised would have booked elsewhere. Food was standard and during meal service pleasant. We were told if we bought a bottle of wine they'd cut the cost of the two free glasses that came with the menu from the bill, we assumed two small glasses of house wine = -£10, but they actually only cut £2! Managers "you were obviously misadvised by staff" *shrug* attitude left a bad taste. Retrospectively wish we'd not paid automatic service.
Lovely restaurant, and great food. Booked on the offer and it was brilliant value.
Saturday evening dinner reservation at Opus in Birmingham. Great food backed up by efficient, friendly service. Spacious, comfortable dining room. Only issue was the general light level which was too bright and detracted from achieving a more intimate atmosphere. But would definitely recommend for anyone looking for good modern cooking and/or a special evening out.
I love Opus. A few more people there would been ideal, but as ever the food, wine and service were all just wonderful. It's not cheap, although we didn't do the market menu which looks pretty decent, but it is a wonderful treat.
I recently dined at the Opus Restaurant in Birmingham and selected the special Christmas menu. The food was delicious, well presented and provided excellent value, I would certainly go again.
Well designed and nice atmosphere. All staff were polite and service was good. Food was exquisite.
A great city centre restaurant with an excellent menu choice and upmarket feel. Good service and knowledgable staff. Recommended.
Another excellent evening at Opus Restaurant. We had the xmas offer - the smoked salmon was really tasty and the xmas pudding was one of the nicest we had had. This was our second visit and there will be more. The only slightly negative thing was the "non-welcome" we received which could be off-putting if this was a first visit - a smile does wonders....
First time at Opus. Table was booked at the later end of the evening and unfortunately it showed. Drinks didnt turn up until half way through main course (and even then they had to be reminded) Side orders didnt turn up until after the main course (and they had to be reminded again) Dessert Chocolates (£5) had the remains of the foil wrapping around the underside.
However, Main Course was excellent, and the Wine selection was excellent
Opus Restaurant in Birmingham, UK, with its lunch menu, offers excellent value for money and service. The environment is corporate being in the financial quarter, which makes it more formal, but still very enjoyable. The wine list is wide ranging, but it adds an expensive element to the final bill.
We dined at Opus Birmingham on Saturday 26th November. The meal was excellent, as was the service from the friendly staff. Really enjoyed our evening.
Opus Restaurant, Birmingham - took client here for mid-week lunch; his recommendation, not my choice, but eminently suitable.
I loved the layout and feel of restaurant - classy. Would love to be brought here for special dinner/date.
Small menu that implies it changes every day (it's dated that day) but looked fundamentally the same as previous times I'd checked online. Nonetheless, great fillet steak.
Waitress was reasonably competent but not really warm/welcoming - aberration?
Food is excellent, portion size is small though.
Another visit to take advantage of the good value early evening set menu. The a la carte menu has much more choice and a fab range of fish but we settled for the simple well cooked choice of two dishes in each course. The whole area was affected by loss of electricity but the team delivered the menu nevertheless. The only impact on us was the white wine being rather less cool than we would have liked. At 24.50 for 3 courses, coffee and a large glass of wine, this is a chance to eat well in style.
6 ladies ate at opus in Birmingham yesterday evening. The food was fantastic except that for 2 of the starters the goats cheese was still partly wrapped in plastic. When we pointed this out to the waiter he apologised but didn't 't replace the dish. We saw him tell the manager who just walked straight past us. At the end of the meal we were charged for all of the starters. After complaining 2 of the goats cheese starters were removed from the bill. We only paid half of the service charge.
Nice fixed garden menu. Food very good. Service haphazard. An OK experience, but not up to its usual standard. Shame as there is so much choice in Birmingham. May think twice before returning.
A very enjoyable meal. Really excellent food, and a pleasant environment, there was quite a wait between courses but the staff were polite and friendly and appologised for tge delay. Would be happy to recommend opus to others.
I love this restaurant in Birmingham's business district which consistently delivers at a very high standard. It is owned and run by lovely people who always extend the warmest of welcomes. The bone in steak is a must have! Good value wine list.
