Excellent meal last night at Saffrani in Edinburgh. Only diners there but had a good meal. Food tasty, nicely spiced and served by an attentive staff. Ambience is homely as the restaurant is fairly basic and very small. Meal enjoyed by all and would recommend this restaurant.

Saffrani Edinburgh. Lovely curry, service a little slow considering they were quiet but if you're not in a rush we would recommend it. Very reasonably priced.

I think its changed hands recently, there was a new menu and different staff. I used to love this restaurant because the staff were so friendly. They still are but its not quite the same as it used to be. Food is still good though.

Superb food, the restaurant isn't glamorous or that tempting when it comes to interior but the food is superb. Flavorsome, tasty and good value. Well worth a visit.

Excellent curry enjoyed by everyone. Would recommend a visit.

Our first visit to Saffrani for some time but it was good to see that standards remain high. Welcoming, attentive staff. A good selection of dishes - mostly old favourites but beautifully cooked and presented. One of the best wine lists I've ever encountered in an Indian restaurant. And reasonable prices. What more could you ask for? Highly recommended.

Pleasant staff though overall felt it was no better than average and feel there's better out there.

Having been a few weeks previously and had a great experience we returned with friends. We were disappointed that the second visit wasn't as good, and a little embarrassed after telling our friends how great it was. One starter was still frozen and had to be sent back (although deducted from bill without prompting), and a main course arrived several minutes after the other five. The food was generally good, so would likely return in future.

Nice place, decor a little outdated but all very clean. Good food and service fine. Quiet on a sat night

Our visit to Saffrani turned out to be a great chance find. Tucked down a side street near South Bridge area we were immediately welcomed as soon as we stepped inside. Throughout our visit staff were very helpful and attentive. Menu has a good selection of dishes without being excessive, along with a good number of vegetarian dishes. Food was excellent, sauces were thick and not excessively oily, with a nice spiciness without being too hot. Good value and will be back soon.

A group of 17 of us went for a family meal Saffrani Indian restaurant in Edinburgh. The food was delicious and they catered for a large group very well, very attentive and very friendly. A little cramped for so many of us but the food, friendly staff and atmosphere made up for it.

Saffrani Edinburgh was spot on for what we wanted. Fantastic food, surroundings fine, not too plush, really lovely unassuming service. Dinner for ended up 42quid - totally reasonable. Free parking on South College St 3 mins walk from Royal Mail was nice too!!

We enjoyed our late meal at Saffrani Edinburgh last night. The service was good and the food pleasant.

Our meal at Saffrani was enjoyed by all four of us, living up to the more positive reviews we read about it beforehand. Although it was a quick meal before the Tattoo, the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive, ensuring that our meal was completed in comfortable time for us to be able to get to the show. Likely that we'll repeat the experience on another visit to Edinburgh.

We enjoyed our meal at Saffrani in Edinburgh. The venue was very busy due to the festival being on, but we did not feel either rushed or neglected. The food was good but not amazing. However, it was very good value for money.

Small menu with a lot of fish. Really friendly service and the food is probably the best in Edinburgh.

Outstanding!!

Excellent meal, good prices, ideal for a pre-theatre meal.

Another excellent meal at Saffrani. Good service and high quality food. Highly recommended

We had a very pleasant meal at Saffrani. The only problem being that I tried to pay with a credit card and the machine was not working. Therefore we paid cash but on arrival home there was a message on our ansaphone saying we were owed money so presume the credit card transaction eventually went through. A bit of a hassle!

Fish dishes very much appreciated by my Bangladeshi friends, though food and atmosphere ( on a Monday evening ) was less good than usual weekens experience

Food was tasty and served relatively quickly. Sauces were individual and subtley flavoured rather than homogenous sauces you get elsewhere. Prices were reasonable.

Had a very enjoyable meal at Saffrani. A little cramp and basic ambiance however food was excellent and very good value for money. Would definitely recommend.

Saffrani Edinbugh - decor good. atmosphere very pleasant. Toilets, both ladies and mens - good. Service v friendly. However, new waiter, served us hot water, did not know the dishes, and despite my wife and mother asking for mild curries, they got medium-hot and medium curries! Although the curries of themselves were very tasty, except mine, which had no real taste at all. You'd need a pick axe to get into the pistachio ice cream - I had to stop trying! Good pricing though.

Our meal at Saffrani in S. College St, Edinburgh, was excellent.

Overall our Dining Experience in Saffrani in Edinburgh was fantastic. The waiters were extremely helpful in recommending dishes and the wine list was excellent. Unfortunately there was only one rose wine on the list, but we opted for it and it was very good. The meal itself was excellent. We throughly enjoyed it!

Excellent food- value for money.

Very good attentive, intelligent and considerate service. Every one of our party of 6 (from 5 coountries in Europe, Asia and Africa) thoroughly enjoyed the varied, freshly-made and beautifully-cooked food. The restaurant was full and buzzing even though it was -12 deg C and sheet ice outside. We could not find fault. I didn't visit the loos so can't comment on those! All in all, very good indeed

Saffrani in Edinburgh was one of the best curry houses I've ever eaten at! The four of us ordered a few different dishes and shared them so we could try them all. Every dish was fantastic. We would all jump at the chance to go back again!

Warm welcome to very pleasant surroundings. The menu was interesting and different to the normal run of the mill indian cuisine. We enjoyed a two course meal that lived up to expectations and everything was cooked to the highest standards including fresh herbs and wonderful flavours. A good choice of wines that weren't too expensive added to a very pleasant evening and we will definitely return. A McC

Yet another lovely meal at Saffrani's. Delicately spiced fish curry, flavoursome mutton curry, all delicious. Not your average Indian restaurant, well worth a visit.

A return visit which was duly rewarded by another well prepared and well priced meal. Saffrani really is a little gem and is becoming one of my favourite Indian restaurants. I defy anyone to visit it and not relish the experience.

Riany horrible night...big welcome just let Boss choose your food..lovely selection mild medium and hot, great taste and chat...definately be back

Saffrani - Edinburgh

This is a wee authentic Indian restaurant. The food was just above average, I have had better Indian food in Edinburgh. The service was excellent, and there wasn't anything particularly wrong with the food, it's just not the best I've had.

Really enjoyed it, lived up to the other reviews. This is very definatley not your average curry house. They actually make the food and each dish is different. Excellent!!

The second time we have eaten at saffrani and everything perfect again.Staff friendly and helpful although it was really quite busy. Also had lager on tap for the lager drinker - dont remember them having that the last time. 10/10

One of the best curries i have had in a long time. All 6 in the party commented on how good the food was and the service was very friendly.

Really nice food and a relaxed atmosphere. Reasonably priced and the staff were very attentive. Will definitely be going again soon.

Saffrani in Edinburgh produced very tasty food. The service was a little slow at times but would definately recommend it.

Another fantastic meal at a restaurant where the food never ceases to impress. The staff go out of their way to make you feel at home and assist you. My partner and I had a fantastic meal of seafood which was very well cooked and most tasty. The best Indian restaurant in Edinburgh.

The Saffrani is well situated for eating out during the Edinburgh Festival. There is good choice at reasonable prices - worth a visit.

Saffrani, Edinburgh Small restaurant with menu more interesting than the usual Indian restaurants. Food very good and not too expensive.

Edinburgh's Saffrani is one of the few Indian restaurants I've eaten in recently where I left feeling satisfied as opposed to bloated. A fairly small but interesting selection of dishes with the emphasis on lamb and fish. I had the bhuna gosht which was excellent. Highly recommended for those looking for a good value Indian meal in the city centre with a pleasant atmosphere and excellent service.

Yet another outstanding meal at Saffrani, definitely the best Indian food in Edinburgh. Their tandoori fish is the food of gods. This time I was accompanied by a Bangladeshi colleague and his family who commented that the meal was the best they had received during their month-long vacation in UK. Worthy of note is a very reasonably priced wine list - with some excellent wines well matched to the menu.

Absolutely amazing. Such a different menu from the norm, really interesting and delicious, we took American guests with us and they were in heaven! The best meal they had had all holiday. Front of house was fantastic really made us very welcome and had a terrific sense of humour and fun, can't wait to go back.

We went to Saffrani on a Tuesday night, we had never heard of the place before and but we fancied and Indian meal and went on the reviews of other TopTable reviews and we weren't dissapointed. When we first arrived the place was empty and the waiter was new and a little lost to be honest but the owner had just left briefly and once he returned you could tell the restaurant got straight back in to the swing of things, lmenu great some really different food, meal great definately going again!

An unpretentious, small scale, place with a warm welcome and great food. Saffrani is slightly off the beaten track in University land but good for that. Mashed, spiced aubergine in its shell and cod fillet pakoras with a lovely sauce for starters. Halibut in mehti leaves and a beautifully tender and spiced lamb sag for mains. There are several out of the ordinary seafood options plus others such as kidney. Godd choice of rices and breads too. All at an amazing price. Go for a happy curry !

Our meal at Saffrani was fantastic. The food was delicious and extremely good vaue for money. Can't believe we've not eaten here before. We will be back.
