we go to this restairant nearly every month, nice fab

Great food, great night! I went with work colleagues during an exhibition at the NEC. Definitely recommended

San Carlo Birmingham is a very nice restaurant, the food was excellent and the service too. We arrived later than we should (M6) for a per football meal but they really looked after us regarding getting our food out. Just found the drinks abit pricey, but will go again sometime.

As always we had an excellent meal. We like steak well done and although a lot of restaurants say they cannot garantee steak will be tender done this way San Carlo never fail. I would have like my Bailey's coffe to be hotter in temperature and I wish note was taken when selecting a certain table are my only complaint. We will however continue to return to our favourite restaurant in Birmingham.

Excellent menu.however perhaps could be slimmed down as amount of choices make selection difficult.

Couldn't fault food, well presented, decent sized portion and tasty.

Bill within toptable guidlines, so no nasty surprises, will be a returning guests for sure.

After hearing reviews that the food is fantastic, and service is poor, I was surprised that it was actually the other way around for us! The food was average (maybe we caught them on a bad day?) but for £27.00 per head, I expect a bit more than average. Lovely setting, big menu, big portions, average food

Thoroughly excellent!

San Carlo Birmingham - No reasons to complain but no reasons to shout from the rooftops either. Competent, attentive, good food, slightly expensive, stuck in a corner in the basement...

Good food and service. Menu is very big - too much choice!

Oh dear, we were greeted at the door at 12 noon when the door was opened and promplty shut in our face! The gentleman who opened up shut the door in my colleagues face and walked off. We were shown to our table which was fine. We then waited at least 20 mins and had to ask someone to take our order. The food was excellent. On the way out we waited for the drinks waiter to walk up the stairs and he didn't even acknowledge us or thanks us. Great food, terrible service and manners.

San Carlo, Birmingham: wonderful Italian cuisine from a comprehensive menu combined with a fantastic atmosphere and a superb team to ensure unrivalled service. The wine selection was quintessentially Italian and the dessert menu served to cleanse the palate perfectly. The whole experience from start to finish was superb and we will be visiting again very soon!!

San Carlo, Birmingham - great food

fantastic dinner!best remmondation-- Scallops!!

A group of us went to San Carlos located Temple St, Bham. Great food, great location. We ordered a variety of dishes and in my opinion best italian in birmingham!! Our booking was at 7pm and by 8pm the restaurant was full.. which is a good sign. Will be booking again very soon.

San Carlo, Birmingham - usual moody/curt waiters but you can't fault the food

The food is nice, but not as amazing as some people make this restaurant out to be. As with all other visits here I found the staff to be extremely rude and still lacking in English. Who would that asking if they have decaf tea would turn into such a drama. I don't think I'll be going back for a while. Children running round a restaurant such as this one doesn't make it a pleasurable atmosphere.

San Carlo, Temple Street, Birmingham,Really good food , service and atmosphere. Great for after work dinner or any weekend too.

Our first visit to San Carlo's in Birmingham was on Saturday lunch time. We arrived nearly an hour early but although it was very busy they managed to fit us in. The food was excellent, one of the best Italian restaurants we have been to. The service was very good, but we had a long wait to order desserts. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Excellent food and reasonable price.

Excellent. San Carlo in Birmingham is upmaket dining at a fair price.

Good service and fantastic food. 10 out of 10

San Carlo in Birmingham delivers to a consistently high standard for business lunches. Watch out for extras being added to the bill!

Food was good. The flammable ice cream was good.

First time visitor to San Carlo, Birmingham (accompanied by the Missus). Smart, modern appearance. We had oysters to start, fillet steaks for mains, sides, puddings and a good bottle for £120. Attentive service whilst eating, we felt welcome to stay and chat after finishing our meals. We went on a Sunday afternoon & the restaurant was fairly busy with one table being serenaded with 'Happy Birthday' in Italian! Nice atmosphere & a return visit is most certain.

San Carlos in Birmingham was everything you would expect from a quality Italian. Friendly service, a nice ambience and great food especially the Tiramisu!

Attend the Spring Fair at the NEC every February. Returned to the San Carlo after two meals there in 2011. Enjoy the atmosphere and the buzz of this busy restaurant. Although we enjoyed our meals, we seem to remember the food being better on our prevoius visits.

San Carlo Birmingham, Good food can't be faulted there! For 2.00 pm Saturday afternoon main restaurant was doing very good business quite full! One main course arrived about 5 minutes after the other 3 this was really the only let down! We paid exactly £35.00 per head including drinks and 10% service (included in the bill), we did not have any bottles of wine so it felt marginally expensive!

San Carlo, Birmingham - OK, considering it was quiet they were not very attentive

We had a wonderful meal. We both had steak which was tender and the pepper sauce was just right with lots of flavour. I would however have liked a choice of either boiled potatoes or mash instead of chips or saute potatoes (round chips). The other vegetables i.e. peas, spinach and mixed vegetables were fine. The white house wine was excellent. Thoroughly recommended.

San Carlo, Birmingham. Went here with business in a large group (14). Despite people arriving/ordering at different times they were excellent in facilitating us, making sure the food arrived close together.

We sat downstairs, which with it's abundance of mirrors, has a really light and spacious feel to it. Every table was full, but spaced enough to provide privacy and not too much noise/echo.

Food was exceptional, price was v. good considering quality

Definitely recommend

nice food, romantic, friendly staff. the signature lobster egg pasta didn't disappoint me, mussels with white wine and cream for starter, very rich sauce.

Atmosphere was electric, service great but I have to say food did not blow us away

San Carlo Birmingham is very similar to the other restaurants in the San Carlo chain and always combines great food with a good atmosphere. The range of choices on the menu is excellent and the prices are reasonable.

Meal at San Carlo, Birmingham was disappointing. We booked as a special treat for our mother 5 people (inc. 1 child). Having dined at the Leeds restaurant we were looking forward to a fabulous night instead it was rushed, despite spending over £300 we were asked twice if we wanted the bill then if we wanted coffee. Starter, bruschetta, soggy. Main, Steaks over cooked & tough. Desert a very nice ice cream. Maybe the restaurants should cross train to maintain constancy. Never again...

This is our favourite & special occassion restaurant that we love going to on mine or hubbys b'days or anniversary. Great atmosphere fab service lovely decor and most importantly food is delicious!!! Would definately recommend this restaurant especially for a special occassion or just fancy a special meal out. we have always sat upstairs the bar is downstairs and they have tables downstairs which I personally don't like so make sure you wait for and request a table upstairs. San carlo B'ham

4th visit and gets better each time . Recommend to all . Will be back soon For sure. Lovely good and great atmosphere .

the San Carlo in Birmingham is a light, airy and noisy restaurant providing an excellent ambience for 2 people or a larger party. We made it our venue for the Christmas party. excellent service, a good choice of food and drink. Many thanks

Perfect restaurant for italian food lovers! Great service even though they were busy deffinitely going back!

Birmingham - food and service very good, as we have come to expect

I booked san carlo for my friend's birthday and we both enjoyed it. service was excellent and the food very nice but a little dear, but this is in central birmingham!! This my second visit to this restaurant and we would go back for a special occasion - specially as the mussels were so nice

San Carlo - Birmingham We had a lovely time - the food, service and staff were great. I would definitely recommend it.

We had a nice lunch in San Carlo Birmingham. Service is good and food is tasty.

Both food and service were great! Will come back :-)

Disappointed by my meal out at San Carlos recently. It was supposed to be a romantic meal for two but enddedup being squashed onto a table in the corner and behind a massive column. Although the food was lovely as usual the whole night was ruined by the table - uncomfortable seats, no ambience and not being able to order drinks . When we did get the waiter's attention for drinks they never arrived but were on the bill, so all in all not the experience I expected from this restaurant.

This was our first visit to San Carlo. We booked this for lunch during a pre Christmas shopping trip. The food was excellent with a very good selection on offer. It was also good value for money. Overall we enjoyed our visit and we will return in the future. The only thing that does let this restaurant down slightly is the service. We were left to poor our own wine but when we did so the waiter did not appear to be pleased. The waiters were all a little surly in their attitude.

Excellent food

San Carlo, Manchester. Busy and lively restaurant. (Sunday 11 Dec.). The place for an romantic evening. Be sure to book a table. Have patience on food and wine - but pretty good value. Typical italian but a varied menu. Recommendable and I will certainly be back.

San Carlo. Birmingham. This is my second visit to the restaurant and it was better than the first time. Food is excellent. I will be returning again in January

San Carlo, Birmingham. Great service right from walking through the front door. Felt a bit cramped but not a big deal. Food lovely ! Would recommend you give it a go.

A nice evening at San Carlo, Birmingham. A pre-Christmas gathering of friends and all enjoyed the selection on the Christmas Menu. Incredibly popular at this time of year and so rather noisy but that was perhaps to be expected. Nevertheless, the service was very friendly and attentive and no complaints. Will return in the New Year!

Absolutely perfect. The Christmas decorations are out of this world. Like a fairy grotto! The food was wonderful as usual.
