The Chameleon in Birmingham lived up to the PR on it's website. The place looked every bit as good as the website suggested. We were in for the 6pm dinner slot, we did not feel rushed and the staff were friendly, attentive and professional. The food portions were absolutely perfect, not too big and not small either. Overall it was extremely good value, £90 for 3 inc two bottles of bubbles. We all then had a good dance at 10pm when the music kicked off. Great night, highly recommended.

Good food and absolutely fantastic club
Yummy, yummy, yummy. Lovely oasis in the centre of Birmingham.
this place is gorgeous!!! rather pricey though, a cocktail for £8! luckily it was two for one (on a monday) which they actually failed to advertise anywhere, i thought the bartender had just got my order wrong. im a very fussy easter and struggled to find something suitable on the menu, theres a variety of steaks and sea food though, all very posh sounding items! would definately recommend if wanting to go somewhere up market, but be prepared to pay for it
This place suffered from a little of style over substance. It is glam, looks good and has a buzz to it. But, the food is not all that. Its a fairly straightforward grill menu but they managed to overcook one of our rib-eye steaks and we sent it back. No fuss and we got a free coffee. 2 steaks, 2 bottles of wine and a few other bits, £100 so OK. Finish eating by 10.30 though as the volume in there goes hyper-sonic! Good "all in 1 venue" but don't go expecting a Michelin star.
Excellent service and the food was as good as ever.
Really nice restaurant good food prompt service overall great atmosphere. After dinner went to bar and dance-floor was the type of place you can spend whole evening in. Would recommend.
10 other people joined me for our Christmad evening and all had a great time - especially the ability to dance in the restaurant, so not having to brave the cold.
One or two people's steaks were served luke warm and the creme brulee was a disaster, but the restaurant made amends by supplying a dessert platter.
Everything else was a good as usual.
This was mu fourth time eating at the Chameleon and for the fourth time wasn't disappointed.
Quality; quantity and ambience remains outstanding. I'm so keen on this restaurant that I'm holding our Christmas Evening there.
although it was a monday night, not much ambience. Very few people in. service was poor, 7 in party ( business dinner) one of the guys did not get his starter till 10 mins after we had finished ours. steaks not cooked as asked - rare came out medium to well! we were sitting not far from the door, which was not closing properly and we had to keep getting up to close it.staff standing around having a laugh., we have been here before ( may 11), which is why we came back, but wont come again.
This was my first visit to The Chameleon in Birmingham. Quite quiet for a Friday lunchtime but that's more to do with the City being generally quiet. I had a great pizza and my colleague had a whole line caught sea bass which he was very pleased with. A good experience.
A group of us visited The Chamelleon in Birmingham on Friday. They were quite busy already in the restaurant, but service was exceptionallly good. We were made to feel very welcome, any queries regarding the menu were easily answered and the service was efficient and polite. Overall the food was good, but a couple of the group felt some of the main courses like the tempura salmon were a bit on the small side. Desserts were very good especially the baileys pannacotta. Overall a good night.
Dinner at the Chameleon in Birmingham was very enjoyable - the restaurant had a nice atmostphere and the music was good.
Great atmospehere. Very cool vibe and good value
Very nice food and atmosphere
This was my second time eating in the Chameleon in the past two months and it didn't disappoint.
Service and food was again excellent.
I particularly enjoyed the starter selections and the main courses were outstanding.
Staff were very friendly, and our food was good (except for a panna cotta which had probably been in fridge too long), but the service could use a bit of sharpening up - we received a drink in an obviously dirty glass, and the wrong fish with a grill order. All happily fixed when pointed out, but I think just a little more attention to detail would have made it a much better meal.
This was my second time at the Chameleon and i didn't disappoint. Decor, food and service was all as good as the first time.
Chameleon (Birmingham) - sophisticated surroundings, good food and friendly service. Great for a long lunch.
This was one of the best meals that my guests and I have had in a long time.
Though the wine was a bit pricy, the food and ambience, together with the service and attention to our wishes was top class.
The Chameleon, Hill Street, Birmingham was AMAZING last night. The service was wonderful, the food was spot-on and the atmosphere was buzzing. We recommend this bar and restaurant without any trace of doubt. A really special dining experience.
The Chameleon, Birmingham Went to eat here last Friday. The atmosphere was good and there seemed to be a good crowd. Our food was too average for such an 'upmarket place' and there wasn't much of a variety in the menu. Ontop of this they had run out of most of the food we had selected and our waitress had no idea what she was doing! I think Chameleon is a really cool bar but I don't really rate the food-sorry :(
Excellent food, great atmosphere, although a little pricy, but well worth it.
A lively and fun place to eat. Staff were excellent.
The Chameleon, Birmingham.
Nice setting, went and it was still quiet (table booked for 18:30) but arrived 15minutes earlier. Place looks nice, service was good..although they didn't have the Kobe burger which is what I wanted to have!!
Menu choice is ok, overall think it was a nice place, not the place you'd go to for a quiet meal (unless it was early in the week).
Classy restaurant! Lovely decor very large ceiling, grand. Meal came quick good for lunch hour had teh minted lamb burger - I recommend. Would be great for after work drinks/cocktails too.
An enjoyable meal somewhat noisy Very nice and helpful staff. the onle coment I would make is that the chicken tangine was somewhat dry
Good food at the Chameleon and good atmosphere. Would recommend.
loved the atmosphere, great place to visit with friends!
Ditch the gigantic chairs, improve the toilets, accept American Express, then you have one hell of a venue.
Please accept American Express - trust me, you won't regret it!
'Bouncers' on the door looked at my feet and said I could not come in. This was because I had smart dark blue Deisel trainers on! I showed my Top table receipt and a manager let us in.Next we were told we did not have a reservation, as the system didnt work. We were asked to wait at the bar and were overcharged £5 on a bottle of wine, the bar manager refused to refund us and took the wine back. The main manager later kindly gave us a free one. The Japanese steak tasted of gas bbq fumes.
We had the "selection of fresh bread" to start. This was beyond disappointing. There was no selection, just one type of 5 finger sized pieces or hard, what I would feed to the ducks, bread. The Kobe burger, thankfully, was lovely.
Still very disappointing they don't accept American Express.
The toilets are not the best either.
My husband and I went to the Chameleon in Birmingham for dinner last night. The food was delicious, especially the Oysters, yummy. The steak was a little underdone to begin with but they soon rectified that and the meal overall was very good. The service was also good.
Probably now my favourite restaurant in Birmingham!
I'm so pleased to see a place have Kobe fillet steak on offer in the city. Although a little pricey for me at £40 I did sample the Kobe burger, which turned out to be something very special - the best burger I have ever had. The scallop starter was as equally amazing. No service charge added to the bill which made a refreshing change.
The only thing the Chameleon needs to do is to accept American Express for the frequent business users.
We had a great time at The Chameleon. The staff were welcoming and very friendly. I was slightly disappointed with my main course which was the lamb tagine. I thought the lamb itself lacked flavour and did not taste authentic. However, my boyfriend had the steak and oysters (as a side dish) which was lovely. I only wish i had ordered what he had! But the venue was great, as was the atmosphere and the staff so it's likely i'll be going again!
The staff at the Chameleon in Birmingham were extremely attentive and polite, which made for a very pleasant atmosphere in which to dine and entertain business colleagues. We will definitely be returning.
nice decor but not ideal for large parties as limited seating area. also not ideal if looking for quiet romantic meal as eating area next to the bar.
good food selection. ate raw fresh oysters and scallop for starters (very nicely prepared and presented). steak main cooked perfectly.. opt for the rib eye.
waitress attentive and patient.
I organised a surprise birthday at the Chameleon in Birmingham for a Saturday night. We had a party of 20. The staff were all very helpful and helped make the night run smoothly. Nothing was to much trouble. The food was fantastic, everybody commented on it, along with how good a venue they all thought it was. I would highly recommend The Chameleon for anybody who wants a good meal and then a bit of a boogie on the dance floor afterwards.
Extremely enjoyable lunch and very good value for money. Ideal for lunchtime entertaining!
Beautiful decor, feels very luxurious. Staff were very pleasant. Food delicious and very filling! Although a couple of dishes (lamb curry and bolognese) could have done with more seasoning, very bland. Would definately go back there.
Went to the Chameleon in Birmingham with my daughter for lunch yesterday, i would highly recommend it, the food and was excellent, its buffet syle for £5 and you can add a cup of soup for £2.50 it was excellent value for money, very trendy and not far to walk from Birmingham Town Hall.
We enjoyed our meal at the Cameleon We had the plater to share as our starter I would recomend they added a dip in oil to the plater. My husband did not recieve what he ordered but they were quick to fix it and gave him the belly he ordered the staff were very good
Visited the Chameleon in Birmingham on Thursday evening. Had a very nice meal, well presented if a little overpriced. The service was excellent and the ambience good. My only complaints are the ladies toilets, which whilst very clean and modern, were a bit smelly and it was freezing cold in the restaurant as everyone kept leaving the doors open, despite the gallant efforts of the waitress to keep closing it.
Chameleon Birmingham is a hip place to be, the food was great although deserts a little un-impressive. Great service
Lovely meal but my only real gripe is the location of the men's toilets and the confusing sign directing you to them!
The Chameleon restaurant/bar in Birmingham is somewhere we will definitely return to!The impression as you walk in is class and luxury with big lighting features and nice decor. All three courses were wonderful, the sticky toffee pudding and white chocolate ice cream was a pudding lover's dream. Only comment would be that the bar area was very busy, and this created a different eating atmosphere. Not somewhere we would take our parents but will return with friends as very good value £30/head
My son and I thought the Chameleon in Birmingham was very good indeed we really enjoyed the meal and the service was very good we will certainly go again
