The house in Brighton was a perfect choice for our large group. Fantastic service and hugely flavoursome food.

The House is fast becoming an absolute Brighton favourite - the menu is varied and interesting, the food's fantastic and the atmosphere relaxed. Highly recommended!
We went to the House Restaurant in Brighton for a special dinner - and it was OK. The steaks, their speciality, were excellent. Really very good. But the accompaniments were average at best, and the service was patchy throughout. It took half an hour to get our bill and in the end we had to go to the counter to pay. Drinks were good, they do a really nice irish coffee, and the wine was nice too. Overall not bad, but not excellent, and it's not cheap.
The House, Brighton is tucked away but worth discovering. Lovely steaks, nice atmosphere. And nice outside area in the square for a good day
The House Restaurant in Brighton is a bit of a hidden gem. We enjoyed a celebratory dinner of steak with mushroom sauce and the most fantastic plaice veronique - with juicy dark mushrooms and an almost addictive sauce which I can still taste. Desserts were a little dull, and the daintily presented starters would be better served with bread but service was friendly and efficient. There are tables outside for summer evenings. Look forward to a return visit.
Ok food, not as described on menu. Servivce was very good however. Bit overpriced for what was on offer.
We ate at The House on a Friday evening, the restaurant was fairly busy, but very relaxed and the service was excellent. My partner had the squid to start which was very good. For mains we had a simple (but delicious) fish and chips and a steak (cooked exactly as ordered). Our waiter was on hand to recommend a suitable wine and all staff were very friendly and attentive. Would recommend highly for an informal envireonment with a high standard of food. Great value too.
The House in Brighton is rapidly becoming favourite restaurant of choice for a chilled out Sunday dinner - the menu's great, the atmosphere relaxed and understated but stylish, the food's fantastic - especially the crayfish thermidor starter, yummy! Very highly recommended!
Small and friendly with a a feeling like coming home . This is the ideal bistro round the corner place where it could easily be somewhere you could become a 'regular'. Interesting combination of flavours- I had the rack of lamb with a goat's cheese and roated vegetable accompaniment which was delicious. Portions generous. House specials like the terrine of ham hock delcious.
The meal was delicious, I enjoyed fresh whole seabass with a light tomato sauce and some new potatoes. For desert I sampled the Apple crumble which was truly a delight. For me I would like to have had a little more custard, but I do appreciate that it was served in a way that maximised the presentation. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant it's self beautifully decorated, with candles and just the right amount of lighting. I will definitely be going there again.
Had a lovely Mothersday lunch. 1st visit but will be going back.
A great steak and a great atmosphere. Relaxed and easy going, but still the kind of place where you can dress up a bit and make a night of it.
The House Restaurant is ticked back off the main street but definitely worth visiting. The cooking is generous, quirky but interesting. Friendly service, intimate but suit all kinds of reasns to dine out. We had a salmon encroute in a delicious combination of leek, onion, mushroom and juicy salmoinb fillet wrapped in pastry on a rosti potato cake case and topped with a seafood enhanced light leafy topping. We shared a potted ham hock starter beautifully served. Seek it out!
Good attentive service and fairly nice food. I ordered a rare steak and it came medium-well but the sauces were pleasant. The atmosphere is nice, but all in all it was quite pricey at over £40 a head.
One of the very best meals my wife and I have ever had. Not only was the food good but there was no price uplift just becasue it was Valantines day. Brilliant would highly recomend
The House in Brighton is proving to be a new favourite for me - it's cosy, the menu is fantastic, the food super and very reasonable for the quality of every dish and the location convenient. Highly recommended!
We visited The House restaurant in Brighton for lunch before our daughters graduation-it is not easy to find tucked away in a corner off East st! It is like being in someones house-wooden floors nice decor warm and comfortable. We had booked 2 'wellies' in advance and they were very good-recommended. Other food was good -and reasonably priced-only thing was that everything was slow-one lady on another table walked out as she waited so long for her food!! Overall a pleasant dining experience.
Another nice meal at The House Resdtaurant in Brighton. Tasty, good food. Would recommend.
The House was a great choice! Amazing steak which was just perfect melt in mouth! Great friendly service... Would definitely come back when next in Brighton!
Gorgeous idea for a restaurant!
Visiting Brighton over Christmas and trying new restaurants. The menu looked very inviting but unfortunately food ok but nothing special. Soup rather watery as was dressing for Pear and stilton salad which in fact contained very little stilton. Fish and chips good. Would not rush back but probably fine for quick lunch. Seated upstairs and service erratic.
Very nice ambience. Even though they were extremely busy, due to a number of Christmas dinners taking place, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The service was good and food very tasty. Would recommend you visit when in Brighton.
First visit took my boyfriend for his birthday. Would definately go again. food excellent, service good. Very nice indeed
The House Restaurant in Brighton was a great find. The service was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals - a sizeable sea bass beautifully cooked and fish pie which was packed with salmon, cod and prawns. No room for pudding but I am sure they would have been great. A very reasonably priced bottle of wine helped make the meal really enjoyable. We would definitely recommend.
We went to The House in Brighton. Great decor , good menu and the food was delicious. The garlic ciabatta which we shared as a starter was lovely. I had salmon en croute which looked spectacular and was very tasty. My girlfriend had fish pie and that was very nice too. The service was attentive without being overbearing. We'd definitely come back if we visit Brighton again.
We visited the House Restaurant in the Laines in Brighton. It was a very pleasant evening and the food and service were great. Recommended.
Took my fiance to The House Restaurant in Brighton for a birthday dinner. We both had the steak which was excellent, possibly a little overpriced if I had to be picky but great food in a lovely relaxed restaurant.
Everything was fine and the food was very good, however I was a bit disappointed at the beginning when I ordered some wine and they didn't have it so I had to choose a different and I ordered the plate of the 'today's special' and they didn't have it either. They should have rubbed off. It wasn't a good start but the friendly service and an amazing food quality helped to be a good to very good dinner!
The House Restaurant, Brighton
Loved it. Pea and bacon soup to start, with a succulent fillet steak topped with pancetta for main. My wife also enjoyed her fish stew, and I almost had food envy when it arrived.
Great service, great food.
We visited this restaurant this weekend for a birthday dinner. The staff were very attentive and made sure we were warm enough as we sat outside. We both had steak and the meal was fantastic. The choice was varied and the wine list was very impressive. If we lived in Brighton we would visit this eatery weekly
The House restaurant in Brighton was a pleasant surprise. The peppered sirloin steak was delicious and cooked to perfection and my sticky toffee pudding was light and covered in just the right amount of sauce. Other diners at my table complained of not enough custard with their crumble but more was brought happily by the waiting staff. A happy Mothers' Day lunch for a reasonable price.
Offered choice of table in the restaurant . Hsd crayfish cocktail an updated version of an old classic then fish pie which was lovely full of chunks of sallmon, prawns and creamy mash. Service attentive and unobtursive Would definitel y visit again
The House restaurant in the Lanes area of Brighton is homely type of venue, with a different feel to many larger restaurants in the area. While sat in the bay window is a lovely position, views are limited to a few passers by due to the narrow street outside. Service was attentive and pleasant even with weddings and birthday parties taking place upstairs. Food was very good, served quickly enough but not rushed. Certainly worth another visit.
Really great find. A tucked away cosy restaurant - House in Brighton. Food was very good and well priced. Service really good too. Would go there again.
The House Restaurant - Brighton
We loved this restaurant. The menu was fantastic as it was very varied especially with the choices of steak. The Beef Wellington's were amazing. We had our own room as the group was very big which made it extra special. Staff were very attentive and everything was extremely organised. Slight delay with one of the main dinners but it was cleared up very quickly. Would definitely recommend!
The House - Brighton. We have been three times now and over the vists the food has been improved but a slight deline in the overall ambience. The baclground music was too loud.
We went to The House in Brighton for NYE. The food was superb and service was excellent. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant.
The location and atmosphere is very good. Unfortunately the food was average at best. The starter wasok, but the main course 'Pork Belly' was very poor. The Creme Brulee didn't recover the meal either. I wouldn't go back in a hurry
The House Restaurant and Brighton Food was excellent, just a shame that the lighting was so poor it was difficult to see what it was you were actually eating!!
The House Restaurant, Brighton should be commended on its excellent food. Between the six of us we had a good cross section of everything on the menu and it was all great. The lighting could do with some attention to improve the atmosphere. The service was friendly, attentive and good humoured.
The house in brighton is a small cosy restaurant. The food was fairly priced the steaks nice and tender. The wine list wasw varied with some good priced decent wine. All in all we would go back.
The House Restaurant in Brighton was a lovely place to eat with friends. Staff were really friendly and accomodating, moving us to an upstairs table at our request. Loads of vegetarian choices too, so a good choice if there's a veggie in the group, just for some main dishes sides had to be ordered seperately.
The House Restaurant in Brighton visited at lunch time had a very attentive and welcoming waitress - who was still pleasant after being told we still had not looked at the menu several times because we were busy chatting! the menu is extensive + specials. All the fish dishes that we had were fresh and beautifully cooked. The ambience was cosy, like being in someone's house!
The House was quiet on Sunday at 6pm which was fine! Nice a quiet and good for a meal for a couple. Good selection of food on the menu although for a restaurant I'm sure I've seen advertised as Italian, only one pasta dish. Food was good and served in good time.
The House restaurant was excellent, lovely food and good service.
The House restaurant in Brighton is a little difficult to find, off the beaten track. Food was good, with the exception of the side order of mashed potatoes. Very bland and watery. Could have done with the addition of butter. Carpaccio starter was very small but tasted great. Fish stew main course was huge. I wasn't told it contained large quantities of potatoes. I would not have ordered mash had I known. Service was friendly and efficient.
Lunch at House in Brighton on Saturday was fabulous; couldn't fault food, wine or service - would highly recommend.
The House was extremely good and the food was delicious. The service was also good.
Fish stew was excellent and I would highly recommended it. My wife had the chilcken salad which was also nice but maybe not so memorable. Staff were very pleasent and attentive, the place lacked a little atmosphere inside but outside was very buzzy and next time we'll sit in the square!
Very pleasant evening, sittingin the outside seating area. Great atmosphere & pretty decent food. The steaks was tasty & well cooked. Everything we had form the chili prawns to start ot the chcolate pudding and coffee was decent & enjoyable. Nothing fancy but really good value. We went for a cuple of glasses of fix & red wine and were impressed by the quality of both
