Food excellent, but service was quite poor. When we ate on a Saturday lunchtime there was one waitress responsible for the whole dining room. She tried her best, but rushed service isn't what you would expect from this type of restaurant.

London Carriage Works, Liverpool

Sunday lunch was a very a quiet affair but this may be have been due it to being day after the Grand National.

Service was good, food was better than good. The only let down was slight lack of attention to detail

First class - really enjoyed everything from start to finish

The London Carriage Works Hope Street Hotel, Hope Street, Liverpool, L1 9DA

What an AMAZING dining experience. Great food & great service. We will certainly be back when next in Liverpool.

Love this restaurant! Brilliant comfort food on freezing Saturday night. Great value set menu. Pigs cheek starter amazing. Liver main delicious but huge! Fab ginger creme brulee

We attended the London Carriage works at lunchtime. The food was good, although some of the potato on my main course was undercooked (al dente, not a good thing for potato!). However when I mentioned this to the waitress it was dealt with quickly and professionally. The creme brûlée was excellent. Great surroundings and overall very good.

We had a really nice evening at The London Carriage Works. The restaurant was very chic and modern. The starters were excellent - mine was beetroot and goats cheese. I had duck for my main course which was also very good.

Appalling. Waited 75 mins for starter. Nothing was hot. Maybe its still Waring

The London Carriage Works was fine. Unfortunately a power cut affecting the whole area brought our meal to a premature close. We enjoy the restaurant and the prix fixee is good value. Service OK, but one of the waitresses kept confusing our order with that of another table.

London Carriage works - Liverpool Yet again an excellent meal thoroughly enjoyed. I chose it because I have never been left down and was celebrating a special occasion.

Staff were a little less attentive than usual but still received good service and good food.

Visited the London Carriage Works for a pre theatre meal.

Excellent value for the quality of the food

Service can be a little slow when very busy as they were.

A mixed experience - starters were great. Mains were well ver cooked and had obviously been standing there for a while or the chef can't cook. Second time we had this problem so won't go back which is ashame as some of the food is really good.

Staff were not attentive, wine was not chilled, food was good when it was eventually delivered to the table. There are better places to spend your money!

Fantastic food and really good service at The London Carriage Works.

Food and service were perfectly acceptable, but I was slightly disappointed by the atmosphere at The London Carriage Works. On making the booking I was called by Toptables to ask whether the reservation could be bought forwards by 15 minutes as it was fully booked at my requested time, which was an absolute lie as it was empty!

Visited The London Carriage Works, Liverpool for a birthday celebration with daughter and three of her friends - excellent meal, couldn't fault the food, but the champagne we chose was not available. And if that is the only minus, it can't be bad!

We visited the London Carriage Works for a pre theatre dinner.

At any price the cooking is excellent but the Prix Fixe makes it phenomenal value.

Friendly service which seemed a little slow but actually got us in and out in time for the show.

Great ambience.

The London Carriage Works in Liverpool was a pleasure to visit. Friendly service and good, well-presented food in decent size portions. The early bird deal is very good value, although we didn't make use of it on this occasion. Will be back soon for sure.

We had a wonderful evening at the Carridge Works. Even though our booking was for 5:30pm the restaurant was busy and buzzing by 6pm. The food and service were very good. The staff were attentive and helpful without being overbearing. The food well presented and unrushed. The only bugbear (and it's only a small one) was the cleanliness of the toilets. They need to be checked and cleaned on a more regular basis. The overall experience was a very positive one with a great choice of menu and price

The London Carriage Works Liverpool was very nice, great quality food.

We travelled up to Liverpool from London to see a football game and wanted to go somewhere nice for lunch beforehand. Having researched restaurants on Toptable, we decided on The London Carriage Works. The food and service were excellent. Thoroughly recommend it.

The London Carriageworks, Liverpool, Hope Street. Fantastic food, ambience, service -wonderful. I could have chosen 90% of the menu. Opted for king scallop starter and a lobster main, both were to die for. Girlfriend asked for a change from the starter list and staff were wonderful in offering an alternative. Consistently a good restaurant to visit.

The London Carriage works, Liverpool. Took colleagues out for dinner .The food was nice and a great wine list. The menu however isnt all " fine dining" bits of it are rather like a gastro pub menu. But service good So all and all well worth a visit.

Our second visit to the London Carriage Works, Liverpool. Food is generally well cooked and beautifully presented, service pleasant and the contemporary decor stunning. However the Eton mess dessert with only 2 strawberries and 1 spoonful of cream was oversweet and overpriced. The toilets are located down 3 flights of steps - not convenient. In a great location, it benefits from being part of a boutique hotel but is pretty pricey for Liverpool - especially the wine list.

The London Carriage Works in Liverpool is significantly above average. The menus and presentation could be fine dining, but the room has a much more casual feel, more along the lines of a bar/bistro. The largish number of diners makes attention to the fine detail of the plate difficult. However, this does not detract from a well constructed menu and a very comprehensive wine list. Service was excellent - exactly the right balance of friendliness and formality. An excellent dining experience.

A great meal experience. My goats cheese and beetroot starter worked well, and Mark's carrot and coriander soup was great. My beef was perfectly cooked, and Mark ordered blanquette of veal. Whilst not being served as expected, in sauce, it was beautifully sauteed, served with a good l'ancienne sauce. No room for dessert, typical Liverpool portions. Service was attentive and informative, and every effort was made to serve us prior to a large party which arrived as we did. Bravo, back again !

Good location, good food and good service. Can recommend anybody who is visiting Liverpool. Been there twice and never disappointed.

The London Carriage Works is a stylish looking restaurant. The choice of dishes on the fixed price menu and the price are both excellent. When one of our party suggested the fish could have done with a litle more cooking, the dish was immediately whisked away with sincere apologies by the waiter and a fresh replacement, perfectly cooked, returned within ten minutes. Couldn't ask for better service. Will certainly go back again when next in Liverpool.

Really disappointed with afternoon tea, and surprised given the positive reviews. Our booking was lost, despite calling to confirm as we were a large group. Then from then all it was just an amusing trail of errors, taking ages to order, taking 40 minutes to bring out our sandwiches (we had pre-ordered afternoon tea, how hard is it?!), bringing the wrong thing, all the waiting staff were young panicky. Also, the loos were very messy, surprising for a supposedly boutique hotel.

Best restaurant we've been to recently in Liverpool. Bistro style with tables well spaced out. Service & food were above expectations. Will definitely return.

Lunch for two at the London Carriage Works, on Hope St, Liverpool. An excellent set lunch menu at £20 for 3 courses. Deep fried duck egg with asparagus, and carpaccio of beef as starters, then gurnard with lentils and samphire and slow-roast pork belly as mains - with some chunky chips too, although they weren't strictly necessary, as the portions are pretty generous. So generous, neither of us could manage more than sorbets and ice-cream for pud! Charming service too.

I was pleasently surprised that both the food and wine were both really good. Service was friendly too. I would recommend my friends to visit

The London Carriage Works, a wonderful experience, handy part of Liverpool, food amazing and great attentive staff, many thanks.

On our second visit to the London Carriage Works we enjoyed the same atmosphere and service as before. I was looking forward to my Caesar Salad as I had had far too few vegetables and salad stuff whilst away from home and eating out for the 6 days we were in Liverpool. I was therefore disappointed to find my salad totally coated with a thick mayonnaise/ dressing. Apart from that we enjoyed our meal .

We liked the London Carriage Works so much that we booked again. We found precious few good restaurants in Liverpool so were delighted to find one to which we could happily return.

We went to The London Carriage Works in Liverpool as we were staying in the hotel it is attached to. It is impressively decorated with large shards of decorated glass surrounding the tables. Food was good, with an interesting menu and an impressive (if expensive) wine list. Service was friendly and staff were well informed, but somewhat lacking in efficiency. The restaurant was expensive, considering it was outside London and lacked some of the finesse you would expect at the prices charged.

We went to The London Carriage Works in Liverpool on a Saturday night with friends- a party of 4. First impressions were good- a great atmosphere and our table was ready. The food was excellent with plenty of choice and the staff were very helpful. There was one unfortunate incident where they brought us a warm bottle of white wine and insisted it was cold! This was eventually cleared up but was completely unnecessary and did dampen our enthsiasm. Would go again though.

we booked for 15 for lunch on Saturday and we were v disappointed. The booking process was great and everyone very helpful. On the day, service started well but dropped off significantly - we had to ask for coffee and then for spoons to stir it with - apparently there were none so we were given desert spoons! Most of the party chose pork loin and it was overcooked and very dry - may plates went back unfinished - no-one seemed interested - I was very surprised. Been before - were we unlucky?

The London Carriage Works Liverpool.

Took advantage of th £20.00 fixed price, excellent value for money, would recommend.

The London Carriage Works is my wife's favourite restaurant, ideally situated between Liverpool's cathedrals and very close to the Philharmonic Hall where we were to attend a concert. The bargain "early bird" menu (£15 for 2 courses; £20 for 3) is served from 5-6.30 even on busy Saturdays, and proved excellent as ever, with beef carpaccio among the 4 starters, and lamb and hake main courses equally delicious. We shared a good portion of home-made chunky chips (£3.50) - yet found room for sweets!

We visited The London carriage Works in Liverpool on 20th March. It was very good food. The Capacio and lamb was excellent. The fix menu at £20 for 3 courses was excellent value. I will definitely go again.

The London Carriage works Liverpool. A fantastic meal in a superb setting. The staff were helpful and polite and most importantly the food was great. Also for celeb spotters there were plenty of celebrities eating at the restaurant. Give this one a try it is well worth it.

Our first visit to The London Carriage Works in Liverpool saw all of us very happy with both the presentation and the qualty of all the food we received. A variety of dishes for the six of us, including one vegetarian, and we were all very pleased with the evening. Service was very able and not intrusive, courses arrived reasonably quickly and together. Will certainly come here again, and I think our guests are likely to do the same.

We visited the London Carriage Works one weekend after going to Anfield to watch Liverpool play. First of all we were pleasantly surprised because Luis Suarez was out at the same restaurant shortly after starring for Liverpool earlier! The food was absolutely delicious and well presented and the wine was also very good. Had a fabulous dining experience and would recommend to anyone in Liverpool or just visiting!

the london carriage works liverpool

absolutely stunning -inside is lovely -real modern and great atmosphere, staff extremely attentive and knowledgeable, had the prix-fixe menu 3 courses for £20 which was great value for money-coud have done with a bit more steak-but cooked to perfection so cant reayy grumble-food all well served and place was really nice will def return

The London Carriage Works in the Hope St. Hotel in Liverpool has a pleasant and warm bar area with comfortable suites. The food was well presented and very good value for money. Our only problem with the venue was the lack of directions for the toilets in the basement which proved tricky to find. The service was pleasant, not slow -but unrushed. In all a very pleasurable experience.

what a beautiful resteraunt Stunning food and on teh particular night we were there - full of soul stars!!!! Great pre - fix menu

The London Carriage Works in Liverpool is a great restaurant, good food, great atmosphere and excellent locally sourced food. We took 2 bottles of the sommeliers choice wine and these were just fantastic and not expensive either. A great night was had by all.Lindyloo

amazing meal, perfect food, perfect atmosphere and perfect service! cannot wait to go back!

My pre-theatre meal at The London Carriage Works restaurant in Liverpool accompanied by my wife was most satisfying. The service from the friendly staff was excellent with sufficient time between courses to be almost perfect. The food was of the highest standard and the wine list was particularly extensive with some superb wines to choose from. I thoroughly recommend the restaurant and will definately visit again.
