really impressive. Had a delightful waitress who was very knowledgable and very attentive without being a pain. The Food was excellent, I will be returning to Northern Quarter very soon.

Came here with a large party on a Saturday night. We had pre-ordered and the food was good given the numbers they had to get out at the same time.

Excellent staff. Very friendly, attentive and courteous.

The Northern Quarter Manchester. What a lovely place. Very ordinary but smashing food and excellent service. We enjoyed the meal, and the wine, and read the paper (talked too, of course!). Great.

Went to TNQ in Manchester for Valentine's Day. This is one of our favourite restaurants and the value for money for the quality of the food you get is always great.

Valentine's Day is always a night when you expect lower quality food and table turning, but there was none of that in TNQ. The food was as excellent as always, with the pork belly starter being particularly good. The service is sometimes a little 'too' relaxed in TNQ, but it was attentive and detailed on this occasion.

We had a very pleasant time at The Northern Quarter. We had a very late booking, but were greeted very warmly. We skipped starters, to leave room for the desert. Because we were the last bookings, some dishes were no longer available. The main courses were really good and tasty, accompanied by a descent Rioja. The desert we shared was fantastic. Very well presented and superb. The cherry on the cake however was the service; everything was done with efficiency and a smile. Excellent!!

Had a great time at The Northern Quarter in Manchester last week - great service and a really relaxed atmosphere.

We visited the Northern quarter restaurant in Manchester city centre at 1830 on a Saturday night. The welcome by the staff was fantastic and my partner and I were very well accommodated all night. The food choice was good with a choice from 2 menus. The quality of the food was fantastic. Overall value for money was also very good and would rate this 9/10. We will be returning in the future.

Was impressed by the good food and great service. Lovely bottle of reasonably priced Pinotage too. Was also impressed by how graciously the staff dealt with a franly insane man on an adjacent table who repeatedly sent his food back and accused the chef of 'laughing at him' .

The Northern Quarter - Manchester

Food was great and presented beautifully. Waitress was absolutely great as well. Mix up with drinks at beginning of meal saw us get a free glass of champagne each, which was a nice touch.

There's just something missing for the price of it all. The whole experience just doesn't feel traditional, different or special enough to justify paying £20 for a main course.

The Northern Quarter, Manchester

Sorry, not so good. A shame as we were looking forward to it. Average food - not much better than pub grub - but at high end prices (up to £20 for a main, £75 bill for 2 course, 1 drink each).

There are much better to eat in Manchester

Not the cheapest place in manchester but the food is excellent. The wine list looks like Bibendum sourced which is great but could be more informative (e.g. show years).

Good but not special.

The food was very good and well presented. However, the service wasn't that great. The restaurant manager was friendly and efficient but the two other members of staff weren't really all that bothered. When we first arrived, there was a wait to be noticed and eventually our table was pointed out across the length of the restaurant, instead of being taken to it.

The Northern Quarter, Manchester. Small but cosy restaurant, very busy and a bit noisy, but that was probably the sound of people enjoying themselves. I had the roast lamb which was delicious, although informed that it would be cooked pink, it wasn't, pity. I could have done with more potato, but had the option to order some extra as a side dish, will do that next time. My wife had the smoked haddock and is still raving about it, particularly the potato cake. Great experience.

We visited The Northern Quarter on a busy Saturday lunchtime. The service was friendly and attentive, the lunch menu was excellent value, and the food was beautifully cooked and presented, the Sea Bass was especially good.

I would certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a more relaxed experience but still with top quality food.

Had a lovely Saturday evening at TNQ. The restaurant was busy but the service from the staff was very good. We started with the summer soup and it was delicious and flavoursome. The fish main course again delicious and the cheese and dessert wine to finish excellent. Will definitely go again for lunch as the 'lunch special' looked very good value.

Enjoyable, and very tasty dinner. Our waitress was very polite, and knew the specials. Service took a little while to get going, but once ordered it wasn't long before the food arrived. Everyone enjoyed the meal, and the only two issues were that the price was a little inflated for what was presented, and it was very warm in there.

The Northern Quarter, Manchester. Top quality food across the board let down by a badly timed kitchen (starters arrived too soon after aperitif, mains arrived immediately after starters, side order not until half way through meal) and half hearted service (served by 4 different waiters, forgot the wine glasses for the wine, forgot to offer desserts or coffee, cutlery sticking to the table). Real shame that the service clouded the clever menu and excellent food.

Northern Quarter, Manchester...

Food was fantastic, especially the suckling pig ragu and chocolate and orange mousse. Lively atmosphere with lots of bars around, so good place for a night out

The Northern Quarter, Manchester Food and service excellent. Would definitely recommend the crab and avocado starter, and the plaice main course. Nice airy restuarant with a chilled out atmosphere. Only one toilet for the ladies so there was always a short queue!

Excellent food, excellent service! What more can we say? We were 30 minutes early but it was no problem.

Having been previously before, we chose to take some close family members along to show them what Manchester had to offer. I am so pleased to say that the Northern Quarter restaurant did not disappoint to the least.

The waiter staff were so friendly, and the food was amazing. we were really pleased that NQR showed them just how amazing Manchester food can be.

The Northern Quarter: the restaurant has simple but stylish decor with a large viewing window on which the chefs plate up, meticulously. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We shared a starter of crab: pretty and fresh tasting. My rib eye was tender and perfectly seasoned. His coq au vin had pieces of tough meat but the sauce was very good. The banoffee cheesecake was also good. There was a lack of ambience, perhaps unsurprisingly for a Monday night. Will definitely return when next in town.

My husband and I had the lunch menu, which runs until 7pm, for an early dinner. It was great value at £13.95 for 3 courses and the food was excellent. The food was all fresh and even the caesar dressing on the salad was handmade. A very refreshing change to the chain restaurant fodder it is easy to get in Manchester. The service was attentive and there was a pianist and guitar player, which was an added bonus. A lovely meal - would definitely recommend.

Had a nice meal with my parent and girlfriend here. NQ strikes a nice balance between good quality ambience and not being too pretentious. Service was friendly and enthusiastic without being exceptional. Food was a mixed bag - excellent desserts on the whole (creme brulee a highlight) and interesting starters (sweetbreads, cerviche, duck, crab were good) contrasting with unnspiring main course. Wine was pretty average although decent list. Would go again but a bit $$$ for what it was.

Obviously a busy time with Take That performing that night and the sun shining meant that the street tables were busy. So service was slow with too long a time between courses. A 30 minute wait for the starter was a bit too long. However all done with a smile!

The food was good but I felt overpriced, but weare not city folk so I suppose this is probably typical. I felt the main at £19.50 should have come with an additional side dish without the necessity of paying another £3 odd.

The Northern Quarter was a brilliant experience, staff were very accommodating and friendly without invading our space, they went out of their way to look after our group requests. The menu selection was excellent and each dish executed well. I was really pleased with the variation of fish dishes and thoughtful vegetarian food also. Would definitely return again.

What a great little find! Tucked away in the Northern Quarter of Manchester amongst all the funky vintage shops is a great little restaurant. We had Sunday lunch. The service was great, there was a good atmosphere in the room and the food as brilliant. "TNQ" were changing their menu so there were a few extra items on the list - the Moules were great for starter, the ginger chutney I had with my world class guinea fowl and fois gras terrine outstanding, and the menu throughout was great value

The Northern Quarter was a convenient pre-concert dinner venue for the MEN Arena and both the meal and the show (Elbow - brilliant!) were top notch. One of the best steaks we have enjoyed for some while pre-ceded by superb mussels and servrd with a smile by the young, personable waiters. Will return!

Great Christmas meal, food was mostly delicious, the Mussels were particularly good.

Excellent food and atmosphere

Lovely restaurant, great ambience, food delicious, service slow. With the offer food is great value

The Northern Quater, Manchester We went for the early diner menu and was pleasently surprised at the choice and value. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. A lovely atmosphere, I would definetly go again of recommend to a friend.

The Northern Quarter in Manchester. We had a fantastic meal, great value at 2 Courses for £9.95 and with one of us having a starter & one having a dessert then sharing it felt like a 3 course!! The guy serving us was very pleasant & helpful and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Lovely meal, great service:)

A nice well made meal in pleasant surroundings. Good service, quality and value.

The Northern Quarter in Manchester is in a converted building which has retained many original features. During my lunchtime visit it was very quiet but food was reasonably good (the portions were on the small side) and I expected the duck leg to be warm (it wasn't!)

The Northern Quarter - Manchester. Great service and food, although as we went at 4pm we were the only people there and so can't really comment on the ambience - aside from that, would highly recommend!

The northern quarter is a great venue in Manchester for a meal We as a work group really enjoyed our meal, we were booked on the special deal of a 2 course dinner at a little under £10, and despite the fact that two of our party arrived 1 hour after the finish time for the offer they were offered the same deal as the rest of us. The wine list is good and fairly priced, we enjoyed both the meal and the wine, and the service was excellent

Short on staff, waited long time for food and service. Food was excellent, need to improve services.

The Northern Quarter Restaurant in Manchester was a welcoming restaurant with great food, great service and great value for money. We have lived 10 minutes away for ages and never got round to going but would make it a regular haunt now even if we lived an hour away. Would highly recommend.

The Northern Quarter Manchester, A great restaurant really friendly staff and great service . The food was delicious and really well presented. We were in a rush and they made sure we didn't have to wait too long ! Brill !

The Northern Quarter Restaurant - Manchester I'm glad to say TNQ is still one of the better eateries out there and has weathered the current economic storm. We had the £9.95 option of 2 courses. Service was very good. The Chicken Ham Hock Pie was devoured in mins by a rather hungry young lady. My squid was just the right side of tender altho there was a weird aftertaste, somthing missing in the sauce. The crispy duck leg was just that, tasty and succulent, cold noodles?? Overall great, go eat

Fine if not much atmosphere - service a little slow as purely down to one person

Meal at The Northern Quarter in Manchester was nice and good value for the offer, though the Salt & Pepper squid of my starter were a little lacking in flavour, and the peas purée in my main course were on the lukewarm side. Still, the rest of the food was enjoyable.

Thoroughly enjoyable after work treat. Nice venue, good food, great value.

Had a lovely meal at The Northern Quarter in Manchester, the two courses for 9.95 offer is really good value and the service was excellent.

The Northern Quarter, Manchester

Good food and service but with a bottle of wine and being tempted into the 3 courses for £14 deal, 2 of us ended spending a similar amount to other restaurants without special offers. The wine was very expensive so we went for house wine which was poor.

Another excellent meal at The Northern Quarter Restaurant. Fabulous food, great service, good value (£25 for 3 courses and unlimited wine!) Lovely to be able to sit outside.
