The Restaurant at The New Ellington - Great food and service. Took some friends for the first time, who also thought is was a great evening. Both the restaurant and the gin bar are recommended

Amazing food again, well worth the visit! Average service again though
Fab food and ambience BUT..... It was 40 minutes before they took our order and a further 45 further 40 minutes before the starter turned up. So service was extremely slow. The main courses could have main courses could have been warmer and my purple sprouting broccoli turned up smothered with almonds - I have a serious nut allergy and the menu said it had 'n' for nuts, but not against this...That and an extra bottle of wine on our bill that we did not have ......and they didn't seem able to decide where or how my friend's coat was going to be returned to him.....shame, it has the makings of a fantastic restaurant but serving staff let the kitchen down
We went to the The restaurant at the New Ellington in Leeds for a family meal, It is the restaurant of a small boutique style hotel. We had a drink in the bar area before the meal and like all hotels drinks were a little pricey. The food was excellent, service good and not too overbearing, , all in all a good experience and we would go back
Excellent food, good service & all set in a very nice & relaxing atmosphere. The gin bar upstairs is also very nice. Well worth the visit & can't wait to go again!
Good mid-week meal with great service and a well thought out, beautifully presented menu
Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Unfortunately it was incredibly slow - expecially considering our table of 4 was the only table in the restaurant for half the evening - for the second half of the evening there was just a table of 2. Not sure why it took quite so long for our food!
Nevertheless it was a good evening, especially with the free wine, and I am sure I will return.
The New Ellington (Leeds) what a fantastic and exciting restaurant. The service from the moment you step through the door was fantastic. The food was sublime from the starters to the puddings. The atmosphere was elegant and relaxing. After the meal we went up stairs to the Cocktail Bar which again was very good and very relaxing. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
We visited the Restaurant at The New Ellington in Leeds for the second time in 12 months and weren't disappointed, when we tried the 7 course tatsing menu which was excellent, as their high standards have been maintained. Definitely to be recommended and we intend to return again some time in the future.
Well presented food with a nice combination of flavours, and good service. Mid-week the restaurant wasn't too busy, and it's impeccably designed - recommended.
We were very impressed with The Restaurant at The New Ellington in Leeds. Whilst we hadn't booked the taster menu, we asked if they could do it and the chef readily agreed 7 courses and only 1 was not to our particular taste. Excellent quality food and service, though, unfortunately only one other table was booked so it lacked atmosphere. It certainly is worth a visit.
My husbands said " I always wondered what all the fuss was on master chef, now I know"
My partner and I really enjoyed the 7 course tasting mene at The New Ellington in Leeds. The food was excellent, and they changed a course for me as I cant eat cheese. The service was great and all in all it was a really enjoyable evening.
4th visit and unfortunatly not the best. Menu has shrunk food still excellent prices increased and service not as good as in the past. Felt like we were being pushed out no coffees offered on a very quiet Tuesday evening
Staff very friendly and helpful. Starters were good, main course very nice. Lovely atmosphere.
Mixed time at the New Ellington, the service from start to finish was fantastic but the food just didn't hit the right notes. Some aspects were cold, some meals were far smaller than others and the pastry on the tar dessert was far too hard. Overall good but not sure whether I would come back purely because of the food.
New Ellington Restaurant, York Place, LEEDS.
My first visit to this restaurant while being briefly back in my home city and I have to say I was impressed on pretty much all counts. Trendy yet cosy interiors good service a menu with a local nod to it and ambitious coooking that is well executed. If I had a gripe it would be a minor one which is the Chataubriand that we shared ought to have a few more of those lovely chips, not loads more, but more than the handful offered for a dish for 2 !
The New Ellington Hotel, Leeds Lovely interiors and dinig area although goldfish dotted around in very small bowls which I didnt like. The service was very good indeed. The frogs legs were overun by the strong taste of fat in the batter which was disappointing. For main, I had monkfish which was slightly tough and the batter on the squid was soggy and had a strong taste of fat. The pastry on my dessert the Manchester Tart, was rock hard.Petits Fours - lovely
Family dinner for a special occasion. The staff were friendly and very professional and looked after our party very well indeed. The ambience is excellent. Relaxed quiet modern setting. The food was excellent and the table service was quietly understated but very efficient. An excellent wine list supported the menu. Discovered two excellent wines from the cheaper end of the Wine List. A little gem of a place just off the beaten track, as far as the City Centre is concerned but worth a visit.
Wonderul time at the New Ellington Leeds. Food, service, and surroundings sublime. Really enjoyed the Gin Garden made by blonde haired bar tender, the irish girl in the restaurant was really friendly and the food very good.
A quiet Monday night at The New Ellington in Leeds. But the food was excellent and the service friendly. Highly recommended.
Had a wonderful dinner at the New Ellington, really interesting flavours and combinations. Really liked the afternoon tea style stand of canapes before dinner and the lamb kofta was superb. Must must must try scallops with 'Pork Pie Puree' WOW. Service very attentive but not over bearing and nice chilled out atmopshere.
The New Ellington, Leeds Our evening started with an excellent gin cocktail followed by a delicious and exciting selection of warm breads served in an ambient setting. The menu is concise but still offers good variety of nouveaux cuisine style food with options for both pescetarians and vegetarians. Save room for a desert as these are generally a trio of interesting flavour combinations creating a unique finish to the meal. Good value for money considering the standard of the food and wine.
Had a very enjoyable meal at the New Ellington, Leeds. Food was good and service was fantastic...really looked after by Gareth and Kara, and the guy on the bar was brilliant at creating some pre dinner cocktails for us. Will be back soon.
We had a lovely meal at the New Ellington in Leeds - portion size too was just right (nothing worse than having to buy a bag chips after a stunning meal). Relaxed atmosphere to sip and enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail. Staff were really friendly and responsive but we did seem to have been forgotten about between getting cocktails and being ready to go down to dinner and had to remind them again about the deal when it came to paying the bill. Would heartily recommend nevertheless.
The New Ellington c/o Ellington Hotel in central Leeds. Fairly central location. Designed around a jazz theme with nice decor. The welcome and service was exemplary and the waitress in particular was very good. The food was of a good standard with very good presentation. Good range of wines. The meal deal offered here was of reasonable value. Would recommend.
First time at The New Ellington and wasn't disappointed by the food. The chefs are cooking their hearts out here and producing food of the highest standard - really knocking on the door of 3 rosettes and even michelin start territory. The problem is the service - this really lets the kitchen down. Staff who don't serve the wine, who don't know what's on the plate when they put it down and a manager (i think) that didn't seem to care when I told him the front of house is letting it down. Sad.
The New Ellington is a very smart restaurant with great food. However, I did think that whilst the starters were great the venison dish was 'messy' and had very confused tastes. Needs to be a bit sharper and more defined.
The New Ellington, Leeds. The food was excellent, with our starter, main and dessert all being of a very high standard. Service were very attentive.
Beautiful food, excellent service.
Very nice atmosphere and setting for dinner. The breads, starter and dessert were delicious, but both main courses were a little disappointing.
This was the second time my husband and I have dined at The New Ellington in Leeds and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed lovely food and a very nice complimentary bottle of wine (courtesy of making the reservation via top table).
Apart from the cold red wine (which they did fix when asked) it was an excellent meal and a nice place for dinner for two
The New Ellington in Leeds has delicious, ambitious food, a well priced wine list and amazing cocktails. We visited on a snowy night, so the atmosphere was rather subdued. The service was excellent. I had amazing pork belly, venison and chocolate dessert. My only comment is that the lighting is oddly dim and cold and, while the bar upstairs is stylish, bright and fun, the downstairs restaurant itself has sombre yet tacky decor - a hard combination to pull off!
Another fantastic evening at the New Ellington. Big fan of the new menu and the Chateau to share was devine...cooked to perfection. Really attentive but not intrusive staff and a really nice vibe.
The Restaurant at the New Ellington, Leeds. Lovely meal, the chateaubriand was cooked to perfection and the service we received was excellent. Good value for money.
Dinner at the New Elington, Leeds on Friday evening. The bar was a lovely atmosphere and very helpful staff. The dinner was divine. the Chateaubriand was perfect and the fat chips fabulous. My dessert was superb, banana souffle, banana cake and banana icecream. The service was excellent throughout.
Another fabulous evening at The New Ellington, Leeds. On arrival we had a cocktail in the relaxed bar atmosphere and were then taken to our table. We both had scollops which absolutely melted in your mouth and for main course we chose the venison and the lamb which were equally good. The service was second to none and food presentation wonderful. What a lovely venue and evening we had. The New Ellington really is the hidden gem of Leeds and a must for all appreciative food lovers.
The first visit for a while and the first time we've been disappointed. Cooking, ingredients, menu and food temperature all lacking quality. A huge fall from grace, but let's hope it's a case of everyone has a bad day. Desserts were the saving grace.
brilliant experience, liked so much first time treated parents to a meal here for Xmas present. Expensive but with the 2 free bittles of wine comes in about right,
Best place to east in Leeds for me.
Restaurant at The New Ellington - Leeds Had a wonderful meal at The New Ellington, everything was spot on! Service, food and the cocktails before dinner were all fabulous. Gareth and Jenni were both very helpful and really looked after us, many thanks...will definately be back!
We had a fantastic time last night, unusual for us both to enjoy a meal as I'm a veggie and the other half is a committed carnivore but The New Ellington delivered on all fronts! Great service, great food, the only thing that let them down was the espresso - apparently the machine was on the blink. We will definitely be back!
Had yet another lovely meal at The New Ellington. Food was fantastic - the pre-starter was amazing! The only negative was the lack of people in the bar, for a Friday night in Leeds it should be buzzing! Will definitely return & recommend it to others!
This was the second time we've been to the new Ellington since it reopened. Not sure it's quite what Albert roux had in mind with the original Ellington but its certainly one of the best menus in Leeds. Innovative, well presented, good quality food. I really hope this manifestation of the Ellington lasts longer than the last one.
The New Ellington Restaurant in Leeds had stylish decor, great service and cocktails, and interesting and original cuisine. Pity it was too quiet for a good atmosphere on a Thursday evening between Christmas and New Year. Highly recommended.
great food, nice place. atmosphere was nice. will go again
The New Ellington Leeds. We ate there onto celebrate my son's birthday. The whole experience was made even better due to TopTable's offer of a free bottle of wine per couple. The bar was great I had a sweet Manhattan and my son's girl friend had a expresso martini which were both super. The menu featured some less than usual choices including rabbit. The high point though was the dessert I shared a banana creation which was brilliant.
Brilliant as ever, fantastic rabbit main and salt cod starter, everyone loved the food and wine offer is great
Excellent as always
This restaurant never fails to impress.
We booked this restaurant as a 'Leaving Meal' for a family member who was going back to Australia after the Christmas break.
Despite the obviously gloomy mood amongst our party; the ambience of the restaurant, the quality of food and the meticulous attention-to-detail of the staff lifted everyone's spirits. First class.
