The Tower, in Edinburgh, had a lovely atmosphere and was light and airy. The wine list was extensive, and there is a pretty good menu. However, I felt that the quality of the food was not as it should be and this let the restuarant down somewhat.

This was our first visit to The Tower and was excellent. A warm welcome by the staff with a table suitably positioned by the window (as requested) gave a great view of the sun setting over the city. We ordered the venson wellington to share which was fabulous but slightly (only just) overshadowed by the scallops my guest had as a starter. Desserts finished off a wonderful dining expereince which was complimented throughout by insightful help from the sommelier. Will be recommending!!

Booked for the Special 2 course lunch at The Tower Restaurant, Chamber Street, Edinburgh but the offer menu didn`t appeal so went for the 3 course at £30.00. We found this very disappointing and expensive for what was offered. Lovely view of Edinburgh Castle and nice ambiance but unfortunately the food let it down and wouldn`t rush back.

The pre-theatre menu at the Tower, Edinburgh is reasonable value. Venue and wine were great. However, they've being a bit greedy on profits as dishes were not at all similar to a la carte e.g. the choice was fish pie or meatloaf, compared to rabbit and venision, and portions were mean especially for the mains. Outside of the deals expect London pricing, could be worth it for the view but the food would need to be spectacular.

The Tower, Edinburgh has fantasic views over the city and excellent service. The food is good, however slightly on the small side

The Tower restaurant, Edinburgh

Lovely views, and a pleasant meal - although almost all of the dishes contained cheese, which was disappointing. As we had an early table booked we were the only people in the restaurant to begin with, which was a little awkward. I would therefore recommend going later in an evening. The puddings were delicious, although choice of wine was a little restricted.

Lovely view and setting but food didn't quite match up. We ate of the 3 for £30 money - some dishes were really good (mustard crusted pork) but others disappointed (seabass). Would probably go again and just be careful what I ordered.

Afternoon tea with champagne here is lovely! Gorgeous view of the castle and perfect afternoon with my mum. The toptable offer with glass of champagne was good value too.

The Tower Edinburgh. We went to The Tower, which is based on the 5th floor of the National museum of Scotland . The view from the window was stunning, overlooking a beautifully lit Edinburgh Castle. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the service was impeccable. The food was delicious and well presented. We had hand-dived scallops with fried pork rillettes for starters, a bouillabaisse for main and a rhubarb custard tart to die for. The atmosphere was relaxed as well . Smart - casual.

Went to the the Tower in Edingburgh, the food was nice and the atmosphere and service good. But nothing extra ordinary. Think its nicer in the summer then I think you can sit on a roof top terace.

Pleasant venue, went with some overseas visitors - mainly to benefit from the view. Food enjoyable enough, but would aim to go for set menu next time to get more value for money.

Afternoon tea at The Tower Restaurant in Edinburgh was most enjoyable. It was peaceful, with a lovely view of the Castle so we felt very relaxed. The food was of a very high standard - the scones and victoria sponge cake were especially good!

nice meal, though I think I'm beginning to get frustrated with really fancy restaurants' set menu deals. They're never up to the standard of the restaurant. I accept very little choice, and less fancy stuff, but I think many places aren't making enough effort now. The choice was made very easy from the Tower's menu, so we all had the same. Starter was lovely. Main was good, but not outstanding. Very small portion of fish on a lot of pasta and surprisingly lacking in flavour.

enjoyed lunch very much...great attention and very nice presentation...immediately acknowled the offer deal and options...spotless facilities and reasonable price for high market qualitty...we will be back for more ...The Tower , Edinburgh

Offer menu very poor -George decided to change to other set menu but meal doubled in cost.

Very good food, well portioned and lovely atmosohere

price doesn't match quality of food otherwise good spot

This was brill!! One of the best places to eat in Edinburgh. Menu was divine and the selection great. The view is something out of this world. All the quality of its sister (the witchery) with a little modern twist!

My daughter and I had the sharing venison wellington for lunch and it was fabulous - a unique dining experience - to celebrate mothers day and my birthday.

The Tower, Edin for Mother's Day - pleased with the two courses for £15.95 as this is a spectacular venue. On arrival though, the menu was less than inspiring, so ended up opting for the more expensve 3 for £30. Waldorf to start - not worth it - tiny salad & mean sauce. The rissoles & squid were equally poor. The main (pork) was excellent, though we really didn't need the upsold carrots. Desert much better, but avoid the cheese - tiny slice! Mediocre meal, great restaurant, not usual standard!

I had not been to the Tower for a few years but it still delivers on all fronts. The food was superb - particularly the banana baked alaska - and I would recommend it. The waiters were very personable and helpful, but could have known their menu a little better. However, that was a small point in otherwise impeccable service.

A lovely setting overlooking the castle, and a nice atmosphere with friendly enough servce, but I'm afraid the food simply did not have the wow factor for us. Do NOT have the crab finger starter - it was the size of my little finger and at £11, a rip off. There were a few issues with the meal, but the manager did not have any interest in discussing them with us.

Nice restaurant with great view of the castle with friendly service. Starters of rabbit fritter and crab fish finger, both average. 1st main was the sirloin steak which was really delicious, as good as any fillet I've ever had. Served with mashed potato, spinach, shin beef parcel and red wine jus, all beautiful. 2nd main, mustard crusted pork with spinach pancake, again delicious. Just 1 dessert, panacotta with cherries, cherries were nice, overall dessert was bland.

I took my boyfriend to the tower for a valentines meal. We had the set menu (3 courses for £30) and made feel very welcome. The waiter was very attentive and jovial! The food was delicious (particularly enjoyed the dark chocolate pannecotta) and the selection of wines was extensive. It was a lovely meal and was only slightly deterred by the rude woman sitting next to us who ordered mash potato with her soup and then complained when it didn't arrive!

I took my mum and brother for a birthday lunch at the Tower restaurant (above the museum) in Edinburgh. We had a great view of the Castle and the service and food were very good. We had the "light lunch" menu - 2 courses for £16.95 which, given the lovely surroundings and quality of food, was pretty good value.

Food at the Tower good and varied.

Afternoon tea at The Tower in Edinburgh. We had an wonderful time the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was to die for. In particular, the tiny meringues with fruit on top were light and delicious and the scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam were the best I've ever tasted. The view of Edinburgh Castle was amazing.

The Tower, Edinburgh. A very enjoyable birthday meal.

Tower Restaurant, Edinburgh. We have been here several times and the food is wonderful. A good was to kick off our Hogmanay celebrations, but deep breath needed before paying the bill!

I had dined at the Tower Restaurant Edinburgh a couple of times before but my friends hadn't so I had my fingers crossed that the food and service would be up to scratch. Fortunately everything was just great. I particularly liked the little pot of "apple crumble" that came with the pork I ordered.

The Tower at The National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh is a very special dining experience in a very special location. The food was excellent, and the staff very attentive without being intrusive. It is pricey, but for a celebration it just can't be beaten.

The Tower Restaurant is a restaurant which serves excellent food, whilst you enjoy some spectacular views of Edinburgh castle and the city's skyline. The menu suits all tastes and I would definitely recommend sampling from the festive menu.

A great restaurant with views of the caste from the rooftop terrace. Faultless service and a friendly welcome. Great food and good value at 3 courses for £30. Will recommend and return.

We all enjoyed our evening. Rating dropped as the mackerel dish was like two fine dishes on the same plate - but they did not go together. Mackerel was far too strong a fish for the delicate oriental tastes. Otherwise was lovely meal.

The Tower restaurant in edinburgh has great views of the city centre. The food portion sizes are a little on the small side. But I did enjoy it. The waiters are for the most part foreign and at times it was difficult to get exactly what you ordered. I just gave up when I tried to explain that none of us wanted sparkling water and we only ordered the still mineral water.

Decent place, good if you are visiting a child at uni, nice atmosphere.

We had a really wonderful dinner at the Tower Restaurant in Edinburgh which we had chosen to celebrate a special occasion. The staff were very friendly and attentive and we went for the 3 courses for £30 deal which was fine, although at first the lack of choice was disappointing. The food however was excellent and we given a table with a view (as I had requested). The staff were very obliging, allowing us to bring in a cake which they set up for us with candles lit! A great experience!!

Wonderful restaurant. We return every year. Great value on the set menu but the a la carte is wonderful. Great for lunch or dinner. The beef is always fantastic. Look forward to next year.

A great new addition to the Edinburgh scene. The views are fantastic, service attentive but not intrusive and only problem is a la carte too tempting for us to stick to the set menu so we spent rather more than planned. No regrets though and already looking forward to a return visit.

We went to the Tower Restaurant, Edinburgh for a family celbration. The service was excellent, and the staff took great care to ensure everything went smoothly from the beginning bringing the champagne at exactly the right time right through to ensuring there were taxis ordered for us at the end. The a la carte menu was quite expensive, however the set menu (3 courses for £30) had a good selection on it and was very good value. The restaurant has great ambiance and stunning castle views.

The Tower, Edinburgh. The city views are fantastic and the £30 set dinner menu, although limited is great value.

The Tower - Edinburgh

The food was lovely, but could have done with a bit more variety on the 3 courses for £30.00

We booked the Tower to complete a busy weekend at the fringe. We were not disappointed. I thought the price was a little on the high side for all the courses, but the food and wine choices were tempting and both the presentation and taste of the food was excellent. I shared the monkfish for 2 and the finished with the strawberry and rasperry desert selection and we were delighted with our choices. The ambience and views of the Castle were particularly pleasing and the staff and service attentiv.

Service was great, but some of the food was unimaginative and most was poor value for what it was. I would expect more inspired food from a premium restaurant. Having said that, it is a great location and view in an elegant setting.

This was my second visit to the Tower Restaurant and it did not let me down. The views are stunning. The food was fresh and delicious. The service was attentive and smooth. Overall great. The £4.50 for a coffee was a bit steep but otherwise brilliant.

The Tower, Chamber Street Edinburgh. Well pleased with meal and location, would recommend and will definitely return. Great

I had heard a lot about The Tower and it lived up to it's reputation. My friends and I all enjoyed delicious food and a great view.

The Tower in Edinburgh is a lovely space. The waiting staff are charming. But boy, the al la carte menu is over priced. Delicious but ruinously expensive. The offer menu was not attractive so I went a la carte. Both courses were very good. My husband went for the pre theatre menu which was very tasty indeed but not much comfort if you were very hungry.

I had read some negative reviews about The Tower Restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a venue of apparent luxury that offered a beautiful view of Edinburgh castle although the food was nowhere near as good as they think it is. I went with the 3 for £30 menu, which was sparse, and the only good dish was the sardine starter. My breaded veal was average, but the potatoes that went with it were gritty (no scrubbing in the kitchen?) Strawberry dessert was largely forgettable.

We had the set lunch menu - good value and great views while we ate. Lovely whiting with tartar sauce for starters. Fresh bread also good, as was main course. An excellent place for lunch - business or pleasure
