Who doesn’t love a banging good banger? But why settle for plain old pork? The UK’s banger makers are an inventive crowd so why not order up some of these sizzling beauties to ring the changes?

It’s Sausage Week (30th October to 5th November) so here’s  a list of the 10 best bangers from across the UK including the mighty Marmite Sandwich Sausage and the Breakfast Marmalade Sausage.

The list is made up from winners of the Q Guild Butcher‘s annual Smithfield Awards 2017.

All the sausages in the list are gold winners – the highest accolade in the craft butcher competition.

2017 saw a record number of entries into the Speciality Sausage category into which these were all entered.

The bangers were judged in a blind taste test to find the best of British butchers’ produce.

  5.      Pork & Marmite Sausage from Tilehurst Village Butchers, Reading
  6.      Pork, Cranberry and Orange Sausage from Williams and Son Butchers, Cornwall
  7.      Pork, Orange and Chocolate Sausage from Aubrey Allen, Leamington Spa
  8.      Breakfast Marmalade Beef Sausage from John Lawson, Uphall
  9.      Pork & Mango Sausage from Turnbulls of Alnwick, Alnwick
  10.    Curried Lamb Sausage from Owtons at Country Market, Bordon
