Ever thought of super charging your salad? Andean Sol can help…
Andean Sol is a new superfood brand which sources great tasting and organic products from the Andean region of South America – a wild and remote expanse of diverse cultures and landscapes.
From the sun-baked foothills and windswept Altiplano to the peaks of Patagonia, the region offers an abundance of unique and wholesome foods.
Andean Sol only supplies foods that they produce ourselves or that they source directly from local farmers and cooperatives. This ensures traceability and the highest quality product at all times.
The Andes mountain range is the longest in the world and one of the highest, stretching over 7,000km from Venezuela in the north all the way to down to Tierra del Fuego in the south.
It is a land of contrasts with towering snowy peaks in Patagonia down to the sun-baked foothills of Argentina, over to the wind swept Altiplano of Bolivia.
Beside their chia seeds and quinoa, Andean Sol have just launched two oils, a blend of chia and olive oil and a pure chia seed oil.
The Olive & Chia Seed oil, available in 250ml bottle, is cold pressed and is a light oil blend good to use as an omega-3 boosted nutritious salad dressing or dip. We actually used also to cook, for example for a scrambled egg.
The oil is indeed very light and we’d say without any particular aroma either, which makes it versatile enough to use with stronger condiments if so liked, such as balsamic vinegar.
The Extra virgin chia oil is also cold pressed, from the highest quality chia seeds produced in Argentina. Andean Sol suggest to add a spoonful to juice or smoothie for an omega-3 boost.
Of course it can also be used on its own as a salad or vegetable dressing and this is how we’ve tried it so far; again, we found the old light and versatile but also not particularly flavoursome as an olive or sesame oil might be.
Both oils are available directly from Andean Sol website or via Ocado.
