Island Poké has opened a new restaurant in Wimbledon, bringing its fresh pacific flavours to the South West London neighbourhood.

Island Poké’s new site opened on August 12th at 8 The Broadway, Wimbledon, following a Poké party the night before.

Rooted in the traditional Hawaiian cuisine, which typically features fresh fish and vegetables on a bed of sushi rice, Island Poké is passionate about using sustainable and high-quality ingredients.

Made fresh to order every time, there are poké bowl options ranging from the Classic Ahi Tuna to the Yuzu Lomi Lomi salmon, as well as vegetarian, vegan and chicken options.

Customers can also ‘build your own’ bowl, allowing them to choose from over a million poké combinations to suit their taste buds.

The new Island will also feature their brand new Poké Bao, a light and fluffy bao bun perfectly steamed to complement the filling. 

Island Poké founder James Gould-Porter said: “We are so glad to be opening our doors in Wimbledon and bringing our fresh pacific flavours to the area.

“It’s our mission to bring people a great and fresh alternative to the traditional lunch and dine-out offering and we think that the residents of Wimbledon are going to love it.”

Wimbledon residents can keep an eye out for the brand’s infamous £1 poké bowl day, which is coming to the new Island on Saturday 3rd September.

Founder of Island Poke, James Gould-Porter, first got a taste for poké after spending his childhood summers between the beaches of California and the tropical islands of Hawaii. He noticed London’s lunch scene was lacking in fresh, healthy options packing both flavour and quality ingredients.

He spotted a gap in the market, quit his job at an art gallery and started selling bowls of his tropical island paradise at a street food market. Island Poké’s first-ever Island opened on Soho’s Kingly Street in 2016.

Over the last five years, the team has made impressive achievements. From developing Europe’s first vegan poké, to creating over ten successful collaborations with London restaurants such as Chotto Matte, Rosa’s Thai Café and Palm Vaults to name a few all whilst putting sustainability at the heart of what they do.

Island Poke also went international opening their first restaurant in France in 2020. Island Poké’s mission is to grow their ohana – family even further across the world by delivering their Fresh Pacific Flavours, going beyond the bowl and creating unforgettable experiences.
