It’s enormous, it’s beyond enormous, it’s pretty much a small country. And we got a preview.
You’ve probably already had a beer in a BrewDog, but you ain’t seen nothing like this. We had our jaws on the floor from the moment we walked into their latest opening, a 60-tap craft beer immersive BrewDog experience taking centre stage in the rejuvenation of Waterloo Station.
At 26,500sq ft in size, BrewDog Waterloo is over twice the size of their previous largest location, DogTap Columbus in Ohio. 1,775 people can fit into its two stunning floors, with the bar just a short walk from the platforms at Waterloo.
We sampled some, but obviously not all, of the 60 taps of craft beer on offer. The bar’s on-site brewhouse produces a range of bespoke classics with the house beer, brewed on site, ‘Trainspotter’, available on keg in Waterloo or can be taken away for the train in a freshly-filled crowler can.
Food? You got it. BrewDog Waterloo has a massive range of food options, including oak-fired chicken, Neapolitan pizza made fresh from the wood-fired pizza oven and the brewer’s full menu of loaded burgers, wings and pizza.
We tried as much as we could, the burgers are brilliant by the way, and the chicken is clucking great. This is ‘pub food’ on steroids. We even filled a ‘doggy bag’.
If you don’t fancy a beer, what’s wrong with you? Seriously fear not as BrewDog is also collaborating with multi-award winning bartender, writer and presenter ‘The Cocktail Guy’ Rich Woods on a very different kind of Lost Property Office; Waterloo’s cocktail hideaway.
The signature experience of the Lost Property Office will be a ‘Martini Roulette’, a trio of miniature martinis, identical in size and colour, but showcasing the evolution of the iconic drink through a timeline of cocktail history. These exceptional cocktails will also showcase the spirits crafted by the BrewDog Distilling Co.
It’s not all beer at BrewDog
London legends Grind offer bottomless brunch, coffee and full breakfasts while Hackney Gelato meets punk with an epic BrewDog collaboration, a Jet Black Heart gelato. One of the many creations served from the old-school ice cream truck parked on the first floor.
Other features include quiet call pods named ‘Zoom Rooms’ and a free-use co-working area, with tables that turn into ping pong tables after hours, duckpin bowling lanes (kids bowl free with a paying adult), and After the Rain; a not-for-profit florist supporting the London Development Trust.
Tomorrow on opening day, Thursday 18th August, two lucky customers will win a trip to the opening of BrewDog Las Vegas. The following day prize of free beer for a year will be up for grabs and on Saturday 20th August at 8pm special guests The Futureheads will be playing an exclusive live set.
