PizzaLuxe – the premium pizza and cocktail brand with venues in Manchester, Leeds, Peterborough and Cambridge – returns to London this spring with the launch of an al fresco restaurant at 3 Henrietta Street, Covent Garden.
PizzaLuxe is the latest restaurant to join 3 Henrietta Street’s extensive portfolio of restaurants to offer its iconic thin-crust and freshly made 13” pizzas on the Covent Garden piazza.
Each pizza is hand-crafted using the brand’s signature 96-hour slow-proven sourdough, topped with fresh tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese, with gluten-free and vegan options available.
Although the current weather is less than appealing for al fresco dining I couldn’t resist sourdough pizzas so we headed in or out is more appropriate since it’s al fresco style.
The good news is that PizzaLuxe has heaters and plenty of blankets to keep diners warm.
The staff are also very quick at service and prepping pizzas so we weren’t waiting for long. The menu has a few tempting choices such as the Cinque Formaggi featuring mozzarella, gorgonzola, feta, halloumi, and goat’s cheese.
And the Pollo topped with pesto chicken, black olives, artichoke heart & mushroom. I on the other hand went for Chorizo with grapes and honey. I recently became quite a fan of honey on pizzas.
There is something about it, savory meat and cheese topped with floral sweetness of honey just works. The Chorizo did not disappoint, it has plenty of goat’s cheese, salty chorizo slices balanced by halves of sweet grapes and runny honey.
All that comfortably sits on perfectly roasted thin and crispy sourdough. The pizza is super light leaving plenty of space for drinks and desserts. I am too tempted by the second pizza though so we decide to go for a more unusual flavour the Salmone Bianca.
The pizza uses smoked salmon and roasted salmon, with gremolata, piccalilli and crème fraiche. I was most intrigued by it so of course I had to try it.
While it comes topped with generous amount of two types of salmon I’m not going to lie the it also looks rather different from a standard pizza. There is no tomato sauce as the name suggests.
Instead it’s topped with bright yellow sauce thanks to piccalilli in it, which also gives it quite a sour pickled and mustardy taste.
There is a lot of the sauce so I think it could benefit from a bit less of it but it does come on the same super thin tasty base. We scrape off the excess sauce and it then it starts to make more sense.
PizzaLuxe also serves a classic list of aperitivos such as Aperol Spritz, Espresso Martini, alongside roasted nuts and Garlic Bread with Mozzarella starters and nibbles.
The PizzaLuxe 3 Henrietta Street terrace is perfectly located on Covent Garden’s lively piazza, offering the ideal location to soak up the buzz of the area and sun when it’s warm.
The brand was founded when Paul Goodale identified a gap in the market for fast, fresh and super-thin pizzas, made without reliance on the Neapolitan tradition of the pizzaiolo, instead creating unique Roman-style recipes using a combination of carefully sourced British and European produce.
Initially starting as a humble market stall on Brick Lane, PizzaLuxe rapidly evolved and has expanded with numerous restaurants throughout the UK.
PizzaLuxe is a good spot for good quality and light when you don’t want to fill up too much pizzas and great Covent Garden vibes on a warmer day.
