The Crown Inn, Upton with its sister company, The Charcuterie at Parsonage Farm, are now offering Charcuterie workshops and ‘Make your own Breakfasts’
The Crown Inn, Upton, is an award-winning traditional, rural pub/restaurant with a reputation for serving Michelin quality food using seasonal and local produce. Read our review here.
Chef and owner Dave Watts (who trained with Raymond Blanc and Gary Jones at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons) and his team are now offering Charcuterie lessons and a new ‘make your own breakfast’ option.
It’s a half day workshop in the Charcuterie’s Cookery School, where the focus is on the process of curing. Learn how to cure your own bacon at home, which also includes making your own salami which, when ready, will be delivered to you to impress your friends and family.
The day starts at 10am with coffee and homemade cake, and includes a light lunch at The Crown Inn at Upton, where you will also get to try some of its own wonderful charcuterie. Course numbers are small, so everyone gets a chance to have a go and there are plenty of opportunities to ask those burning questions. There’s also an opportunity to buy some of The Charcuterie’s own range of cured meats.
New for this year is an innovative and exciting ‘Make your own Breakfast’ opportunity on Friday evenings from Mid-June until the last Friday in July. David will see you through butchering a pork shoulder, making sausages and curing your own bacon. All this can be taken away with you to have a breakfast fit for a king!
The Crown is also excited to be planning a wine matched tasting dinner for the end of July – date to be announced (keep checking website for details).
Visitors to The Crown can expect to be treated to a choice of the a la Carte menu or the Plat du Jour menu. Both menu choices are available in the evening and lunchtimes most days.
The restaurant also offers a special 3-course deal including sandwich, soup, and pudding for just £15.50 and other classic dishes at lunchtime. Sunday lunches are available on the first Sunday of the month.
The menus change regularly and all of them reflect Dave Watts’ creativity and thoughtfulness and use of local produce wherever possible.
