LIMIN Winter Lodge, a new winter lodge with après ski experience, just arrived to London.

And it comes with an unusual twist – a Caribbean one. While the Caribbean and the Alps may not have much in common, chef-owner Sham Mahabir is bringing the best of both worlds together to create a unique experience like nothing else the city has to offer.

Nestled in Gabriel’s Wharf, LIMIN has been transformed from a beach bar into a magical alpine retreat complete with a private ski lodge, fir trees, and the twinkling fairy lights your Instagram could only dream of.

LIMIN’s new menu now features spiced up mountain bites: think Scotch Bonnet and Christmas Spice Glazed Ham; a delicious Croque Monsieur with Trini ham, melted cheese and truffle oil; a soul warming garden and mountain risotto; dive into a cheese and charcuterie platter with your faves.

Or try Doubles, an iconic Trinidadian street food staple with curried chickpeas served between two flat breads. While quite tricky to eat and a little messy it’s an interesting dish to try and share.

The filling is both warming and satisfying while the bread adds that carbs hint. Along some Caribbean classics of course such as chicken wings and freeta.

Our other highlight were the chicken wings, which are marinated in coriander, smoked paprika and garlic, steamed and then fried. The wings are served coated in LIMIN’s signature scotch bonnet sweet and sour mango jam.

For dessert it’s a choice between Trinidad Christmas cake with vanilla or white chocolate Baule balls.

Meanwhile the classic Caribbean cocktails menu was also given a mountainous edge. Meet Winter Berry Mojito, filled with mixed berries, rum and a hint of mint. It was a highlight for me.

Or the Creme de la Creme with double cream, Limin rum, carnation milk, nutmeg and cinnamon. It’s creamy and warming.

Or consider trying Val-d’Isère Passion Fizz and the Morzine Mojito which promise to take customers straight to the slopes. Plus a traditional warming mulled wine with Sham’s twist. The LIMIN’s signature rum punch remains as classic.

Along the dishes expect an array of entertainment throughout the season: some of London’s best DJs will be providing funky tunes, customers can get signing at the karaoke bar; while groups can get competitive with candy cane limbo; and be dazzled by fire breathers, chalet hostesses, burlesque shows and so much more.
