Honest Umami has launched its new Sprout Mix, a limited edition MSG flavour boost that’s ready to take festive greens up the pecking order on overfilled plates.
MSG gets a bad rep, blamed for ‘Chinese Restaurant Syndrome’ amongst other things, but that is rather unfair.
Honest Umami want to end one of the world’s biggest food myths, misinformation and misconceptions around monosodium glutamate. Made naturally from fermented plants, their MSG Flavour Boosts pack a punch with every pinch, and are now available on Ocado, as well as from independent retailers across the UK.
For this season of giving, they have created a blend of Alder Smoked Sea Salt, Muscovado Sugar, MSG, Garlic and Pepper, that’s guaranteed to turn even the biggest sprout hater into a super fan.
Rob Miller, co-founder of Honest Umami, says ‘if you don’t like the flavour of a sprout, there’s a good chance it’s because their slight natural bitterness is putting you off. And one of the amazing things that MSG does is to dial down bitter flavours, which allows the sprout’s natural sweetness and umami to come through.’
Our limited edition sprout flavour booster is a bit smoky, a bit garlicky, a bit peppery, and has lots of MSG to boost the natural sproutiness of your sprouts. MSG should probably stand for ‘Makes Sprouts Great’.”
The Honest Umami Sprout Mix is available to purchase at independent retailers across the UK, priced at £3.95 per 100g pot. The full range of MSG Flavour Boosts includes Pure, Chilli, Salt & Pepper and 3-2-1 All-Purpose, which can all be purchased from Ocado and honestumami.com.
