The brainchild of Spaniard Roberto Mata, El Pirata Detapas is the modern sibling of the Mayfair establishment, El Pirata. Offering cocina nueva, courtesy of fellow Spaniard and head chef, Omar Allibhoy, previously of Maze, this contemporary restaurant reinvents traditional tapas, serving it in the most enchanting of neighbourhood restaurant surroundings. Combining Spanish stalwarts with contemporary, innovative dishes designed for sharing.
Special attention has been paid to the all-Spanish wine list. Carefully chosen by Roberto, the extensive selection showcasesthe best Iberia has to offer at every price point, from a delicious Terras Gauda 2007, Albarino Rais Baixas, to a fine and rare Aro Muga 2004, Tempranillo and Graciano, Rioja. Spanish brandies and liqueurs are also on offer as well as regionally inspired cocktails such as Agua de Valencia, a mix of muddled orange, Grand Marnier and Cava.
