Boutique hotel Vintry & Mercer, located in the heart of the City, is launching its mystical Magic of Afternoon Tea on 26th October, in time for Halloween.

With both an adult and children’s version for wizard enthusiasts, the new offering is inspired by some of the team’s favourite characters and stories and the tea will be enjoyed at Do Not Disturb, Vintry & Mercer’s discreet, underground speakeasy.

On offer will be a selection of savoury treats, scones and bewitching pastries. Sweet treats include a wide variety of beautifully crafted, magical pastries, such as the Excalibur, a white chocolate and mango cheese cake, served with dry ice, the Blood Moon, a raspberry and grenadine mousse and the Witch’s Owl, a White chocolate owl with a blueberry macaron.

Excitingly, the Box of bones creation is made up of chocolate soil and bones and arrives with a miniature shovel for guests to dig to reveal the spooky surprise. Savoury options include a twist on a classic Sunday lunch with Roast beef, horseradish and gravy in a Yorkshire pudding and Truffled egg mayonnaise in a brioche bun; an afternoon tea is never complete without a scone and guests can enjoy a classic plain and raisin scone with essential Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam.

This tea can be perfectly paired with your choice of tea or a glass of Charles Heidsieck Champagne Brut or Champagne Rosé. You can also sip on a cocktail of choice with three out-of-this-world creations on offer, including the Witches Brew (Bourbon, mango syrup, chilli, lemon and Earl Grey tea), the Enchanting Hat (Rum, coconut cream, coconut liqueur, coconut puree and rum foam) or the Mystic Orb (Rum, Everleaf Mountain, strawberry shrub, blackcurrant & hibiscus tea).

Each of these cocktails have a non-alcoholic alternative and guests can also opt in for the Magical Tea Pot Tails artisanal tea selection.

The Magic of Afternoon Tea is an immersive treat for children, and the Wizards Tea, includes the same wondrous pastries and scones, whilst savoury options are seen in a Sausage roll with ketchup, a Jam sandwich and a Witch’s hat cheese straw. There is also Truth Spell, a hot chocolate with marshmallows and the Hocus Pocus Elixir which blends Pea tea, apple shrub, and elderflower with edible glitter.

Vintry & Mercer is in the heart of the City, located just a short walk from Cannon Street station and a stone’s throw from the Thames.

Available every Saturday and Sunday from midday to 5pm daily starting 26th October. In addition, Do Not Disturb will be serving this during 26th October 2024 to 3rd November and 23rd December to 5th January (excluding 25th December) daily from 12 noon – 5pm.

The Magic of Afternoon Tea will cost £49.50 per person or £64.50 with a glass of Charles Heidsieck Champagne brut or £59.50 with a non-alcoholic Magical Tea Pot Tail and £69.50 when with a glass of Charles Heidsieck Champagne rosé. The Magic of Afternoon Tea Kids menu costs £37.50 per child.
