This year Montezumas a sustainable chocolate brand is adding something special to their Easter Eggs range to help the bumblebees.

I had a pleasure attending the chocolate testing this year to try the new Easter range and learn about Montezuma’s work with The Bumblebee Conservation Trust.

Their range is amazing, I tried from their intense dark Absolute Dark, which is just cocoa to the super smooth white, which technically not a chocolate by definition as such.

In order to be called chocolate it must contain cocoa powder, which gives chocolate that colour, depending on the percentage it varies from light brown to intensive dark brown as the case with Absolute Dark.

While the Great White is certified organic containing all organic cocoa butter, milk powder, vanilla and cane sugar.

I am a dark chocolate gal but wow I’m really impressed by the quality and stunning aromatic vanilla hints in this bar.

Compared to all the other white chocolate brands I’ve tried. Even the finest belgian white still taste unpleasantly oily, waxy even and just plain sweet.

Equally I also love the 100 dark, Absolute Dark, It’s made from just cocoa solids and nothing else. We are told it’s also their best seller.

Those are the opposite sides of the chocolarte spectrum, Montezumas of course have milk and dark ranges inlduing Black Forest Cherry, Happiness, milk chocolate with salted caramelised hazelnut pieces, Dark and Mint, Dark and Chilli, Milk and Peanut Butter and many more.

There are also chocolate buttons, truffles with limited edition flavours and for the Easter, the Easter eggs. Montezumas will also be donating 25p from each of their honeycomb eggs to The Bumblebee Conservation Trust to help bumblebees.

Like bees bubblebees are just as vital to our ecosystem. They are hard working pollinators, they pollinate crops as well as wildflowers.

Sadly due to habitat loss and excessive use of pesticides in gardens and farming they are on the rapid decrease. The Bumblebee Conservation Trust carries out research into how to save the fuzzy insects, focuses on creating bumblebee friendly habitats, educating the public and influencing environmental policy.

This Easter sunflowers seeds are also included in each Montezumas Honeycomb Egg so the public can plant their sunflower patch, a flower, which is very popular with bumblebees and other pollinators
