This half of foodepedia’s ‘two-headed monster’ (pa, the back half) works at Canary Wharf, and is often asked where to eat or drink – the answer has invariably been ‘somewhere else’. The small taste of Lower East that we had has certainly left us intrigued to go there and eat.
Mestizo launch their Gastronomic Week
Mestizo’s Gastronomic week was launched on Monday with a bustling party. If the canapés served at the launch party are representative of the dishes that will be featured during the Gastronomic week, and the atmosphere created at the party is anything to go by, this promises to be an interesting, fun week and something not to be missed.
Kasturi launches its fish festival
For those of you who don’t think that seafood works with curry, we can say, that provided that the mix of spice is right, it does. Kasturi’s menu is very reasonably priced and it is well worth going along and trying the fish menu, or just selecting one or two dishes as part of your meal.
Call My Bluff at the Meet & Wine Club
At their meeting on Tuesday 1st September, at the Meat and Wine Co., the Club tested our taste buds and knowledge of wines. Accompanying the tastings we had canapés, and afterwards some lovely steak, cooked medium rare, which had been cut into bite sized pieces and chips, for us to pick at. At a cost of £20 per head it seemed to us to be remarkably good value for what we had.

YO! Indulgence
The people at YO! Sushi have recently created eight new dishes in their YO! Indulgence range. These are available only at the YO! Sushi outlet in the food hall of Selfridges, each dish priced at £6 per portion. Having heard about this development we went along to try them.

Babur celebrates 24 years in style
To help them to celebrate their 24th ‘Birthday’ Babur have created a themed tasting menu for their customers. The concept was developed by Babur’s head chef, his idea inspired by each year representing the number of hours in a day and the four meals: breakfast; lunch; dinner and midnight snack, that you might have during the day. This is a limited opportunity as the menu is available only till the end of August, and is well worth trying – we heartily recommend it.
Yeo Valley Organic present a cooking master class with Arthur Potts Dawson
The lower ground floor lecture theatre in Waterstone’s, Piccadilly was the setting for aYeo Valley Organic Master Class recently. The main feature of this was a cookery demonstration by the executive chef of Acorn House restaurant, Arthur Potts Dawson, in which he used Yeo Valley produce as part of the make up of each of the dishes he prepared.
