Sartoria is a classy Italian establishment with brilliant white table clothes attracting those preferring higher end restaurants.
I recall visiting it for wine tasting almost 10 years ago now in one of the private dining rooms.
There is also a bar and an outdoor terrace with weather finally starting to warm up the terrace would be ideal now.
For us in the evening it sadly was just a tab bit cold so we settled by the window behind a wide round table admiring the terrace from the warmth of the indoors.
I favour a good mescal in cocktails so Smokey Almond is my first choice. As expected a little smoky with milky hints of bianco amaretto and a splash of lime for acidity.
A well rounded and easy to drink cocktail. My guest stole my next choice by ordering it in the first round.
Italian Passion is a little bit like pina colada but much lighter and with no coconut or pineapple in it. Yet it resembles pina colada for me somehow.
The passion fruit is stunningly smooth and practically absent on its usual acidity.
We pair it with a few bar snacks. Courgette fries must be mentioned first, a lavish tall stack in a cup with fine courgette straws.
It’s a large portion yet we can’t stop reaching out for more. Light with a pleasing chef’s special coating of thin batter they are perfect as they are, no need for condiments unlike potato fries.
They even somewhat appear like fried anchovy you would order somewhere in southern Italy by the coast. Fried courgettes always remind me of that.
We also try burrata. Burratas are mostly indifferent everywhere with just two variations: incredibly light, almost absent taste and milky.
Or creamy with more density and elasticity in the outer layer. Sartoria’s burrata is the latter.
Last but not least is truffle spaghetti. Al dente to the bite with a rich sauce and ample truffle shavings, made impeccable.
With the bar snacks complete, our attention turned to dessert. Tiramisu to share but with this one comes with a twist. Like the limited edition Adriatico Cocktails the secret ingredient is amaretto soaked sponges.
Instead of traditional intense coffee liqueur amaretto lingers leaving subtle roasted almond notes.
The tiramisu is neatly stacked dusted with a liberal coating of coca powder, which proved a little challenging to eat without scattering the powder all over the table.
But the challenge well worth taking on for it’s exquisite flavour.
If you are in the area Sartoria is a good call for a casual drink on a terrace, or a few Italian classics. But better make it quick, Adriatico menu is only here till end of July.
