The Cotswolds Distillery launches two new limited edition single cask releases, Spanish Oak Single Malt Whisky and Flaxen Vale Single Malt Whisky

Cotswolds Distillery’s limited edition Spanish Oak Single Malt Whisky is crafted using Spanish Oak Oloroso Sherry casks with Cotswolds Distillery’s Signature first-fill ex-red wine and bourbon barrels.  The Spanish sherry casks are from the Jerez region in south west Spain and provide the whisky with rich, fruity and full-bodied flavours with aromas of vanilla, dried apricots, custard and star anise.

As the first Whisky Club exclusive from Cotswolds Distillery, the release celebrates their loyal customers who have supported the distillery and their spirits since it was founded in 2014. Whisky aficionados who are not yet Whisky Club members and who wish to purchase a bottle, are able to sign up here. Club Members are entitled to a range of benefits including first access to the latest limited-edition releases and news from the Distillery.

The 70cl bottle is presented in a luxury gift tube which is deep burgundy in colour and adorned with gold floral leaf artwork.

50ml Cotswolds Sherry Oak | 10ml Rosso/Sweet Vermouth | 10ml Pedro Ximenez PX Sherry | 3 Dash Orange Bitters

Stirred down with ice, and strained into a chilled martini glass and garnish with an orange zest

Tasting Notes:

Nose: vanilla, sweet cooking spices

Palette: dried apricots, custard, star anise

Finish: subtle wood tannin, lingering vanilla

The limited-edition Flaxen Vale Single Malt Whisky is the second release in Cotswolds Distillery’s Harvest Series and is a blend of select American Oak PX and Spanish Oak Oloroso casks. The smooth and mellow blend is described as being as harmonious as the Cotswolds landscape at the end of a fine summer and celebrates the rich and fruity character of the Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky.

Cotswolds Distillery’s Harvest Series is released once a year and celebrates the beautiful local landscape through the art of painting and whisky blending. In this series, Cotswolds Distillery draws on the rich palette of the many high quality casks stored in their warehouses to create a blend worthy of the landscape which graces the bottles. The illustration used on the outer tube this year is the work of celebrated Cotswolds-based artist, Annabel Playfair. It depicts the colours and features of the landscape around the distillery at an important time in the farming calendar.

Signature Serve: The Whisky Harvest

45ml Cotswolds Flaxen Vale Single Malt Whisky | 20ml Hazelnut Liqueur | 20ml Lemon | 15ml 2:1 Honey syrup 

Place all ingredients into a cocktail shaker, add ice, shake & fine strain into a chilled coupe glass. 

Tasting Notes:

Nose: sweet dates, touch of peat 

Palate: caramel, charred oak, dried red fruits, toasted hazelnut 

Finish: moreish, lingering wood tannin
