Did you know that outer space smells like rum? Well astronomers’ and astrobiologists are telling us that it does and it has inspired this new pioneering British rum brand that’s perfect for cocktail mixing or sipping neat.
V Rum is a premium, sustainable British rum brand that comes in two expressions, each crafted with a cosmic twist.
It’s made from scratch using locally sourced, premium quality natural ingredients at the brand’s state of the art sustainable distillery located in Hampshire.
Production is led by V Rum’s Head Distiller, Mikey Melrose, and overseen by husband-and-wife entrepreneurs, Carl and Nicole Churchill.
Now mentioning white rum always leads to the B word, Bacardi. Many a teenage party has ended badly after too many Bacardi and cokes. This is unfair on white rum.
Many adult cocktails can be made with white rum, including of course Daquiri, Pina Colada and Mojitos, theres a great choice on Vrum’s website.
V Rum offer a Premium White Rum(40% ABV) and a powerful Overproof White Rum (60% ABV).
V Rum crafts and distils its rum with the planet in mind. The distillery operates using 100% renewable electricity, isca pioneer of green gas provided by Ecotricity, an advanced heat recovery system to mitigate emissions,and the use of molasses from UK sugar production to limit air miles.
As the business grows, V Rum plans to install solar energy panels at the distillery and switch to lighter packaging solutions.
V Rum 40% is a crystal clear white rum which on the nose has notes of vanilla fudge, lemon mousse, ripe pineapple and cut grass. On the tongue, pineapple and toffee are prominent with spice, cream of soda, sticky molasses and nuttiness following, creating a moreish sip.
The V Rum Overproof 60% is a bold, powerful rum. On the nose, a complex bomb of tropical fruit, white pepper, anise and lemongrass. The palate is surprisingly smooth when drunk neat boasting flavours of pineapple, banana, toffee, molasses and nuts, with the spice and body expected from an overproof rum.
