With the lockdown restrictions due to relax to allow seated outdoor hospitality of groups of up to 6, as well as single household holiday accommodation, Tinwood Estate in West Sussex can throw open the gates to guests once more.
The recently-built tasting room already boasts a vast outdoor south facing terrace, overlooking the vines, and a Tinwood marquee will be added in case the Spring weather is not so favourable.
Just over an hour from London, next door to the world famous Goodwood Estate, Tinwood is perfect for a day trip.
Meet the winegrowers themselves and gain an insight into how they grow the vines and make the wines, with a vineyard tour and full tasting experience.
Taking 1.5 hours, you will be shown around the vines and estate, and then taste 3 glasses of delicious sparkling wine. After the tour you’re welcome to stay for an extra glass or a cold bottle!
Since the first vines were planted in 2007 at the foot of the South Downs National Park, Tinwood Estate has quickly established a reputation for producing the very finest English sparkling wines, including the Estate Brut, the Blanc de Blancs and a Rosé.
They recently released their 2018 vintages of all three varieties.. Owner Art Tukker says, ‘The weather in 2018 was the best year we’ve ever had at Tinwood, and we’re expecting great things from this vintage. I would go so far as to say this was the vintage of a generation.’
In 2016 three luxurious lodges were added to the estate, with views over vines towards the setting sun. Complete with a barrel sauna and jacuzzi for guest use, a continental breakfast is delivered in a hamper each morning to the lodge door.
Sparkling Afternoon Teas will be held on Sunday 25th April, and then the first Wednesday of each month throughout the summer.
The afternoon teas will include a guided vineyard tour, full Tinwood tasting (3 glasses) and afternoon tea. The menu includes finger sandwiches, plain & fruit scones, macaroons, chocolate brownie, flapjack, fresh fruit tartlets, chocolate coated strawberries & Ferrero Rocher.
