On Tuesday 1st February, The Gantry, a newly launched East London hotel, will be hosting a special Chinese New Year dinner and offering diners a complimentary overnight stay, in partnership with the luxury sparkling tea brand, Saicho.
Welcoming the Year of the Tiger, the dishes on the bespoke menu have been devised to pair with Eight Immortals, Saicho’s newest and most exclusive tea, from the Guangdong province in China, alongside other unique blends.
Available from 7pm-9pm, the insert menu will feature an array of dishes,such as the Hubei sticky rice pearl pork meatballs, pickled carrots coriander cress, or for a more substantial dish the Ginger scallion seabass, steamed in banana leaf with chiyan lake salt & Szechuan pepper served with steamed rice and bok choi.
For those after something sweet guests, can end with the Tiger tangerine chalice, grand citrus jelly, hot stone mango, sweet lotus option.
Saicho’s newest tea pays homage to the legendary myth of the Eight Immortals, revered in Chinese art and literature spanning back to the Ming dynasty, and lends itself perfectly to Lunar New Year toasts.
Designed to be served chilled in a Champagne glass, this rare tea provides aromas of nectarine, ginger, sweet baking spices, and confit peach, with an underlying earthiness on the nose.
As a one-off, at the end of the evening dinner guests will be able to enjoy an overnight stay in one of the luxurious rooms (normally priced at a minimum of £125), which boasts stunning views, top-quality finishings, and impressive contemporary design.
