After encountering a couple of botanicals known for their aphrodisiacal qualities, the gin gurus behind London’s Portobello Road Gin have created a series of Ginstitute sessions for the singles amongst us this Valentine’s Day.
From Monday 8Th February to Sunday 21st February, guests at Portobello Road Gin’s home – The Ginstitute – will have the chance to create a gin using botanicals historically linked to aphrodisiacal properties such as Ginseng, Asparagus, Avocado, Cayenne Pepper, Galangol, Horny Goat Weed, Lovage and Wormwood.
The sessions are the brainchild of Chief Gin Instructor at The Ginstitute, Jake F Burger, who says: “we’re not claiming that using these botanicals in your gin will have definitely have a discernible aphrodisiacal effect on whomever drinks it, but some of these plants do have a wonderful flavour when distilled.
This is really just a bit of light hearted fun for Valentine’s Day, come on down and create your very own Love Potion Number Nine Gin!â€Â
Priced at £110 per person, the session includes a bottle of your own blend, a bottle of Portobello Road Gin and four drinks throughout the session. The session lasts approximately three hours and needs to be booked in advance. www.theginstitute.com
