To celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, Threadneedle Bar at The Royal Exchange will be dedicating a selection of glamorous cocktails to five famous female figures this March.
From #MeToo to #TimesUp, women are speaking out louder than ever – Threadneedle Bar at The Royal Exchange are encouraging women to raise a glass to some of the legendary individuals who influenced society and shaped history.
The 5 drinks on offer include the COCO ROUGE (dedicated to Coco Chanel), known for her love for champagne and claims that red wine will keep you young- Tanqueray gin, Martini Rosso, Hennessy Fine de Cognac and apricot brandy topped up with rosé Champagne.
SOME LIKE IT HOT! – A homage to one of Marilyn Monroe’s most famous films- Ketel One vodka, cinnamon syrup, strawberry puree, lime juice, egg white and fresh blackberries.
THE PEARL OF CLEOPATRA- Legend has it that Marc Antony once bet Queen of the Nile, Cleopatra, that she couldn’t spend a small fortune on one meal. In a show of wealth and power, she proceeded to take out her pearl earring, dissolve it in a glass of vinegar, and drink it. -Pothecary gin, rhubarb liqueur, lavender syrup, blue curacao liqueur, lemon juice and soda water.
TIME’S UP- This year marks 100 years since some women gained the right to vote. This cocktail is devoted to suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst– Silent Pool gin, grapefruit juice, lychee puree, lemon juice, sugar syrup, pinch of lavender and violet liqueur.
LET THEM EAT CAKE- Undoubtedly a lover of all sweet things, Threadneedle Bar, Royal Exchange promises this cocktail would have satisfied the sweet tooth of Marie Antionette. – Ketel One vodka, Mozart Dark chocolate liqueur, sugar syrup and Baileys foam top.
Cocktail lovers will be able to enjoy these beverages, inspired by some women of history, for just £6 each, between 5.30pm and 7.30pm, Monday to Wednesday throughout March.
